Ant-Man and the Wasp is a bit of harmless fun. Or something. It has mad sins, though.
Thursday: some older comic book movie sins.

Why isn't anybody bothered about breathing in quantum realm? They are smaller than the oxygen molecules in there
Edit: for everyone commenting suit/helmet helps, I'm talking about how Janet stays in the quantam realm without any protective gear and when hank arrives, he's seen without the helmet as well
Yadda Yadda
prajwal prakash probably cop-out with psuedo-science: They are smaller than oxygen molecules, meaning they are receiving more oxygen at their size than the oxygen in real-time.
Because this universe has aliens, gods, giant green monster men, sentient robots, nazi-ghosts, and wizards. But the oxygen is the thing you can't suspend your disbelief for?

They shrink by decreasing the distance between atoms without changing mass but all the time things act as if the mass was changed. This is the biggest sin in my oppinion
Decreasing the space between atoms: how to blow up things. The 'science' in this movie is 'stupid science'.

9:43 uhhh but if what Scott said in Endgame (5 years here = 5 hours in quantum realm) then wouldn't it technically be 30 hours for her?
Woozy.y it’s not exact. That was just his experience. Yea it’s inconsistent but that the entire reason they were able to do what they did in Endgame. Think about it, every 5 hours they spent fixing everything would have been 5 years in the OG timeline, but instead it was the other way around...they spent as much time as needed in the past but in the present only a few minutes had gone by. So no that doesn’t really apply to Janet’s age...but you are right...it doesn’t make since. But hey there are fucking wizards in this universe, what can you do.
The 5 year/5 hour thing wasn't just from being in the quantum realm. There was a throw-away line in the Ant-Man 2 end-credit scene about the risk of getting stuck in a time-vortex. Scott just happened to slip into one and survive, and that's what gave the Avengers the idea to try and control that possibility. Janet didn't travel in time.
To be fair to Jeremy, no-one knew that yet. Also Michelle Pfeiffer still aged in the quantum realm, which is brought up in the EWW Endgame video.
They just say time works differently in the quantum realm. There is no 5 years = 5 hours rule, that was just random.
They said that time works differently, not that years seem like hours. Scott got caught in the time vortexes Janet mentioned, and it sent him five years into the future. Janet did no such thing, as she obviously knew to avoid the vortexes due to spending three full decades down there. Scott traveled to the future the same way the Avengers traveled to the past.
The Main problems in these movies is the fact that in the first movie everything that shrinks down keeps its weight which means that a building weighs nothing or the movie ignores its own physics.
Old comment but I just had a thought: Perhaps Pym built the building and its contents on the small scale then blew it up.
@@TheDarkFable Nice idea, but then wouldnt the building blow away when it is big?
@@Elleaf1 Some sort of anchoring perhaps?
There’s not one lick of consistency with the magic tech in these films. Just assume Hank figured out a way to change the shrinking method so that you can pick and choose which mode you want...
It's totally plot dependent. The same scene will have a shrunken character cracking the floor and then being light as a feather as needed.
Man I don't care if prison is a genuine risk or not. if CAPTAIN AMERICA comes to you asking for help, you suit up.
erosion271 Not if you have a daughter you love and miss dearly who you know you may be separated from for years when you get caught, because I doubt Scott would have really expected to escape and not have his secret identity revealed. Then again, movie logic

@@mschuhler I question your math skills...
Every person doesn’t have a 50% chance, because this way more then half of humanity could be wiped out if alot of people are just unlucky, that way, if they are REALLY unlucky, the whole of humanity could be snapped away, so you have to look at it as a percentage of the entire human race, not just individually, just like sheckii told you but you told him every person has a 50% chance which isnt true
Does shrinking make objects lighter or do they remain same weight?
Yes
Their mass stays the same, their density increases so weight is the same? More?
@@asgardninja9674 An increasing density would mean the lab-building should be sinking into the earth like a bullet. If its mass stays the same, and so does Earth's gravity, it should still weigh as much as a full building.

And the scene with his daughter.
Also, I would've loved a sin removed for the music at the "child-Scott" scene. Itself it was a fun-ok-ish scene, but music really had me rolling
Also that, as stated from the beginning of the first movie, the technology reduces the space between particles that make up atoms. So you could never be smaller than the sum of all the particles that make up your body.
Also, the closer the particles become, the more likely they would collide and release huge amounts of energy, probably setting off a chain reaction with all of the atoms in your body, causing you to explode like an atomic bomb.
Also the whole inconsistency of weight changes depending on whether or not it's relevant to that part of the movie.
“Adaptation is part of it, but some of it is... evolution”
Hold on a minute...
Hay, evolution is plausible. Haven't you ever seen the X-Me.................ooooohhhhh.
@@samueltheprideofafrikarobi9319 I think Samosa Nathan was getting at the point that evolution is the result of a series of adaptations of a species to new environmental conditions - members with successful adaptations pass them onto future generations while members with failed adaptations are killed off before they can mate.
Dargonhuman yup. "Adaptation is part of it, but some of it is... adaptation" hmm
"Adaptation" is not the same as "evolution".
"Adaptation" ususally is for a short term and not genetically involved, whereas "evolution" is in long term and has to be a change that can be passed on to the descendants, therefore genetics is involved.
@@locochoify Evolution, however, is a form of adaptation (of species, to environmental stress), thus the sentence still sounds kind of redundant. Now if she said that it's adaptation, and then expanded on this thought by saying it's a continuous adaptation resembling evolution, then it would make more sense.
Also, a single organism is not subject to evolution, a collection called a species is.

I'm sorry but mass and size are not the same things, if a building was shrunk to the size of a suitcase, it would still weigh the same as the building
Yeah, I was wondering about whether the mass condensation of going subatomic would be enough to create a black hole. I sense it wouldn't but would still be a fun problem to solve.
Vah0n1 Manuel-Scott Yes and No. They aren’t the same, A smaller version wouldn’t weigh the same as the building Mass and Weight are two different things Mass deals with the amount of matter and weight deals with the force of gravity on that object
@@drew9384 Which means that the building being shrunk to that scale would weigh exponentially more than the unshrunk building and punch a suitcase-sized hole through the ground. They said in the first movie that the mass of the object stays the same, just the space between the atoms is reduced, so compressing that much mass down to that small of an object would make it weigh thousands of times more. Hell, the mere speed of shrinking that much mass so quickly would have caused enough suction as the air rushed to fill that massive volume of suddenly-empty space to cause hurricane-force winds that would have knocked Scott and Hank on their faces and possibly even flipped the car on top of them, to say nothing of the sudden depressurization blowing out all of the windows of the nearby buildings.
Why are you all still using this logic when we saw a tank keychain last movie? It's obvious that Pym Particles don't keep the same mass since Scott is able to ride a fucking ant. Everybody keeps using the one line from last movie and not their own eyes.
Dargonhuman it’s not that it would weigh more, since both the mass and the force of gravity would remain unchanged, which are the two components in determining weight. However, the building WOULD punch a hole thru many, many layers of earth because the same mass would be focused over a smaller surface area.

How? How does he "mindcontrol" animals, when all his technology is about quantum physics?? It's bullshit in the comics and it's never explicitely mentioned in the Ant Man movies because it's bullshit. The comic book writers who invented the character apparently went "His theme is 'ants', right? So, when he gets small he gets super-strong, like an ant, right, and he can, like, talk to ants, because reasons."
The thing that angered me the most was that they waddled the who building briefcase all over the place. Meaning that all the stuff inside should have been turned over and out of place.
In defense of Pym not using this technology for the benefit of all, the opening of the first Ant-Man established that Pym did try to present his tech for the benefit of all, only to have Howard Stark steal it and try to make weapons out of it. After that, Pym determined that the danger of it becoming a weapon was too great to offset the benefits to humanity.

Then in Infinity War, the post credits scene should be Hank, Hope and Janet getting dusted.
When Scott sees the emergency, he decides he can’t go to New York because last time he helped The Avengers unannounced he got arrested, so he wants to keep his family safe by staying with them instead of leaving and repeating the same mistakes.

It's the weakest super hero movie of last year. Doesn't mean it's bad or anything, but it's definately not memorable imo.
It's not a bad movie. It's not amazing, either. It's just very awkwardly placed in the mcu, due to it's pretty low stakes and being quite detatched from the overall mcu, after we've reached the high stakes of Infinity War into Engame. That said, I did like the ending scene with him stuck in the quantum realm, after the Thanos snap. That was a nice touch that took advantage of its awkward place in the mcu.
@@Five050 very well said, and thats what annoys me about it, Ant-Man and the Wasp had the potential to be so out there and a really unique sequel, and while it was an enjoyable couple of hours, it never reached its full potential, further proving the first one was even beginning to be memorable because of Edgar Wrights work on it
I cant believe you didnt comment on how impossibly impractical the smaller cars are. I mean say a normal car is ten feet long and travels a mile it covers 520 car lengths in however long it takes but if a car is one inch long then it has to cover 63 k car lengths. So for a tiny car to travel at the same relative speeds as a larger car(as we are shown them doing several times in this movie) they would have to travel significantly faster,... relatively.like 120 times faster, So 45 mph is like what mach 7(5k mph 'ish)
45 mph is 45 mph. Rpm might be different, and car lengths traveled might be different, but 45 mph is 45 mph

The distance the car can travel per rotation is important here. For a large car with a wheel of circumference of 1 metre, it can travel 5 metres in that minute. The shrunk car's wheel has a circumference significantly smaller, lets say, 1 cm. Therefore, the smaller car travels at 5cm per minute.

In the first movie it was set up that an object keeps it's original weight just becomes more dense as the space between the atoms shrinks... there for one Tiny car should still weigh over 1000lbs and that's for a lighter car. The Van with all of the field equipment should be over a ton. Therefore this plastic case with 12 cars in it of varying makes models and sizes should weigh at least 6 tons all the way up to 24 tons... And that's conservative
Also they say Ghost gets in a state where she can't interact with matter, yet she clearly and conveniently always interact with the ground. That's a big issue, I'm surprised this one and yours weren't included in the video.
Jason Jones it was also set up in the first movie that hank can carry a tank as a key chain.
Simple, Hank is just really, really strong.
That's not what the first movie says, and obviously not what it does from looking at anything that happens in either movie. Hank carried a TANK on his keychain in that movie, obviously objects do not keep their mass. And the building??? The movie actually said objects maintain their "density," so you have to watch when tiny that you don't stab people with your fist. Also you're not going to get an actual explanation of what the Pym Particles do or how they work because Pym is so protective of the technology(also because it's utterly insane.)
@@trezapoioiuy ghost quantum tunnels through matter. that means she can phase through things like thin walls, but the floor is thick so she can't fall down. it also looked like she can control it to some extent.

I think real ants made to look enlarged would be a lot more terrifying looking than CG ones. Insects also move very robotically, nothing like what's shown in the movie. It would become a horror movie every time they came on screen.
As a quantum physicist, the way they described quantum entanglement disturbs me. They expect people to not know what it is, so they just use it as technobabble. This is depressing.
At least the only thing they're trying to sell is a movie and now, like, a quantum panacea.
I know it is Cinema Sins's job to hate on every single thing in existence.. But how can you hate on that "de-aging" technology. It's dope as hell! Knowing how old the actors are now just makes it cooler.
If it worked well, maybe. What was shown here was not even uncanny valley material - it was more "bad '90s animation" level bad... :/
@@entropyzero5588 oh c'mon.. it was nowhere near that bad. You're worse than Cinema sins 😜
Yeah, honestly, I didn't even notice it watching the movie (and didn't find it uncanny even when it was being pointed out here). Maybe I just don't read enough tabloids that I have a perfect mental image of what Pfeiffer should look like.
Agreed. I'm blown away how flawless it looks.
I think it looks shit.
are we ever gonna get an everything wrong with Into The Spider-Verse?
_follow-up question: has a movie ever gotten negative sins before?_
Considering they gave even Wall E some sins and that's one of Jeremy's favorite movies, I don't think so.
Yeah there was it was troll one or two (though it was a April fools episode
Wall E went to -5 sins, but it didn't last long.
The creed - Troll 2 didn’t end at negative sins though. It ended going up to zero.
Hateful Eight had -1 sins at the beginning

Janet shrank small enough to fit between the molecules of the metal casing. You can’t both be small enough to fit between the molecules of the metal casing and large enough to do damage to the circuitry. Lest we forget, she continues to shrink with perpetually diminishing returns on her destructive potential. To even consider shrinking as a potential option suggests that Janet was suffering from too many blows to her head and was judgment impaired. That’s gotta be worth a Cinema Sin for the counter.
Maybe she flew into a small hole?
Let’s not forget they were first on top of a intermediate range missile, that used rockets instead of air-breathing engines. So, they would be fighting winds in the 600-1800mph range. (10x that if it was a ICBM, with a terminal velocity near Mach 25, not Mach 1-3)
If she really popped up and had the belt suddenly take all her weight, she would have easily been ripped in half. Not to mention you arms and legs being folded behind you.
They're kind of inconsistent about it but shrinking objects are supposed to retain their original mass. So at subatomic levels Janet would have the same powerful punch as a full sized human. At that size that amount of power to an atom could easily lead to the entire structure destabailizing.
@@BadWolf739 Except she wouldn't be able to see because photons would be larger than her head and not able to enter her eye without killing her instantly. Also, the Schwarzfield radius would apply if she retained the same mass and she'd be inside her own personal miniature black hole with no way of seeing anything at all, ever.
@@stylis666 Yes and Ironman's reactor shouldn't work and there's no serum that would give you superstrength while also turning your head into a red skull. This is comic book logic we are talking about. From a scientific perspective shrinking works one of two ways neither of which would be viable as both would kill a human. I do wish Antman had made a little more effort to establish a zone of "this works this way, it's ridiculous but accept it like this and everything else falls into place" instead of what they did which was have shrinking tech act however was convenient in whatever way they needed but if you're going to start targeting the realism of comic book movies you're going to very quickly realise that they aren't realistic in the slightest. It just comes down to what level of suspension of disbelief they can narratively justify before they lose the viewer.

The Oatmeal Scene was a HIGH POINT! One of the biggest issues I had with the sequel was the reduction of screen time (and especially lines) for Pena, T.I. and Dastmalchion. Also the Truth Serum Scene! These were important for the humor/action balance. I admit that the truth serum scene sounds like it was snatched directly from Deadpool.

The scene where ghost is talking Scott while tide up, reminds me of a scene from loved ones.
5:46 Thanos had the Reality Stone, so the shrinking technology would have been useless against him. He could just use that stone to turn back into his regular size, or make the tech turn into bubbles like he did with Quill's gun
Also not like they knew about thanos coming and the avengers in wakanda wouldn't have time to get to scott or any of her ant man franchise and the other part of the avengers were taken into space so there was no time to get Scott
You're missing something big: In the first movie they stated that when something shrinks, it contains the same weight (the density changing), which is why when Scott shrinks in the bathroom, he dents the floor when he lands. However, in this one, they shrink that full-sized building, and then just pull it around like a light piece of luggage. It should still weigh the same as a building, and be near impossible to move. Not to mention, reducing that much weight into that small size would make it so dense it'd easily dent, if not fall through, the ground. I'm not blaming Marvel for this, I'm blaming you for not mentioning it.
Hank is capable of carrying a shrunken tank in the first movie, and Antony is capable of carrying a shrunken Scott, so that error existed in the previous movies. I don't remember if that was sinned in the Cinema Sins video for the first movie, but maybe it was, and Cinema Sins didn't feel like being redundant?
In the same vein of logic, expanding objects like the toy train in the first one, the ants in both or the candy dispenser in this one wouldn't make them heavier like the movies suggest. In fact, for some of the enlarged objects, their buoyancy would likely make them lighter than air so they'd float away.
Technically she wasn't actually in their for 30 years because spoiler alert, I Endgame we discover that five years is like 5 hours in the quantum realm. So really she was only in their 30 hours? Right.
Marvel establishes that quantum is totally random, though. Scott literally says in Endgame that the heist could work if they could "control the chaos." So yes, it could have just been thirty hours, or it could have been near-eternity. And she's definitely aged a good bit since then, so i don't doubt that she spent at least a good 10-20 years in there. Plus, she talks FAR too experienced for merely spending a few hours down there, and considering that Scott was down there for 5 hours and hasn't shown any quantum-bending powers yet, it's safe to assume that she spent at least a few years and most likely a decade down there.
Ok, rant over.
I've been laughing for three weeks now because the firefighter that saves ghost tells her "Ya fue" which in the place where her backstory happens, Argentina, it would be the equivalent of telling her “screw it” or “forget it.”.
The Ted Bundy reference had me rolling.

I’m surprised you didn’t add something like 20 sins for the fact that the small things didn’t stay extremely heavy like the cars or the lab because the ant man suit is effective because it’s fast and you can’t see it but it stays the same weight so it can punch and stuff
