Whittaker is on a completely different level, than to that of Henry cejudo. Who is an amazing fighter. Whittaker is super natural. The high level competition he had to beat, in order to earn that championship belt, is truly terrifying. What a dangerous man. And people are putting Izzy stylebender adesanya in line for a title shot next (if he beats Silva) but he hasn't faced half of the high level competition Robert has.
Zoe it’s just good business to give Israel the next shot. He is the biggest name in the division right now especially if he beats Silva. So then Robert gets a huge boost for taking out a rising star or if Israel wins you have multiple fights that are headliners like Yoel and jacare getting another chance at the belt cuz they hadn’t already fought Israel on his way up.

I think what a lot of people might be ignoring is the cardio factor. Gastelum has only gone 5 rounds once and lost to Neil Magny. Whittaker went 5 rounds twice with Romero once with a torn ACL and once with a broken hand and both times finished strongly, in his 3 round fights he has shown an ability to finish strong in the later rounds.

For the guys commenting that Roberts body has been beat and is not the same. What about kelvin? In this case every fighter sucks after their first fight because they’ve been hit and they’re body is not the same? That’s why you train and heal. They also fight for a living so I’m pretty sure a good amount of money goes to their personal health.

Gastelum and Whittaker might be in the same weight class but are not in the same class. This fight won’t be close and I have Whittaker as a current top-5 UFC fighter. The fact it’s in Australia is no good for Gastelum either considering the Aussies generally dominate western fighters there for some reason.
That said, the best fight to bet on which I consider “free money” is Jim Crute who is only a -135 favorite to beat Sam Alvey (who is stepping in on short notice). I believe those odds move to -225 by fight night and I see it as the best value UFC bet of the year.

Very good point. I see Gastelum either trying to pace himself and just trying to survive and outpoint Whittaker, or just coming out super aggressive and swinging for the fences and try to knock him out in the first round. I feel like it’ll be the latter.

Romero is a very powerful, explosive guy but Gastelum is a better boxer than all of Rob's opponents by far, I think Kelvin boxes him up and sparks him in round 1

On paper Whittaker should win this. But the thing about KG is that he’s almost always expected to lose his fights yet he usually wins. If you’ve followed his fighting career since TUF, he always seemed like he should be losing his next fight yet he goes out and wins when he’s least expected to.

I've followed Whittaker since CFC days.. the most dangerous aspect of a Whittaker fight is his heart. He doesn't need a chin when he has mana flowing through his veins, and his heart is willing to withstand what ever comes his way. Everyone now knows what we Aussies/Kiwis have known for years. I want to start by saying I love Rob he's a classy, none dramatic person and a hell of a competitor. However, Yoel beat him the second time and if it weren't for him missing weight and not having the extra to do so he would have been champion. Being that said Kelvin hits hard and also a good wrestler, nowhere near the wrestler as Romero but good nonetheless. So I see Kelvin knocking out Rob, but I also see Rob punishing and aggressively outpointing Kelvin. This might be another war.
Yoel lost 3 rounds in the 2nd fight and arguably 4 in the 1st. Yes he almost finished Robert but he lost the fight.
Nah it should’ve been a draw. Robert won rounds 1,2, and 4 and scored 10-9, while Romero had round 3 on a 10-9 and had the only 10-8 round for the 5th. Score should’ve been 47-47

Watch UFC embedded. Yoel had basically the full 2 hours. He came out with like 10 minutes to spare in the the two hour limit. Also Whittaker won rounds 1,2,4. Yoel hurt him but couldn't finish the job when he had the opportunity.

Robert has really good footwork and picks his shots really well, he has alot of heart aswell. He gets better after every fight he seems to learn and grow more as a fighter more rapidly than most fighters at his skill level. Its gonna be a good fight I'm sure of that but Robert is the champ for good reason.
