  • The rollout of the on-board unit (OBU) for ERP 2.0 has sparked questions: what are the possible placements for the processing unit? Why are there three components for motor vehicles while motorcycles have a single-piece unit? And, just how much power does the OBU need? Dive in with us to find out more.

    Is the card unit that makes the whole installation bad. So big! Why can't they make it slimmer .

    Easy to fix this. Make a processing unit which can be stored out of sight and 1 dashboard unit with integrated card reader, antenna and heads up display.

    With digitilisation, one would have thought that electronic devices will be more compact and smaller. So it is really hard to understand how LTA can end up with three separate components for the new ERP sysytem instead of the previous one. That to me is retrogressive. I believed LTA you can do better than that.

    Time to reduce the external temperature OR remove the Minister for Sustainability since there don’t seem to be any available solution in sight?

  • @JetsetJive7
    @JetsetJive7 Před měsícem

    I cannot believe under direct sun, the temp is only 39.4 Degrees. Many items are burning to touch when left under hot sun. Furthermore the ONE piece IU is waterproof (I assume) and hence not ventilated what is the OPERATING temp in HOT sun ? Didn't LTA specify the need for the new IU to be operational under heat in the tender? or was this missed out?

  • @markc915

    A 2.0 OBU? Now that's cutting-edge technology! Because who needs a sleek, all-in-one smartphone when you can have a three-part brick collection for your dashboard? Forget minimalism, the future is chunky!
    Security concerns, they say? My smartphone with its fingerprint scanner and constant updates feels pretty secure, thanks very much. Maybe the OBU needs a moat and a drawbridge for ultimate data protection.
    Dedicated functionality? Don't they know we multitaskers can handle both a phone and this clunky contraption while navigating rush hour traffic and juggling a lukewarm latte? Efficiency redefined!
    Look, all I want is something that works and doesn't require a user manual the size of a dictionary. Until they miniaturize this behemoth and integrate it seamlessly with my phone, I'll stick to the good old days - when technology wasn't quite so... cumbersome.

    Interesting, i didn’t know equipment that function like a mini computer must be hidden from heat. I guess all head units installed at the dashboard, especially EVs with mega screen that seems like a mini computer in Tesla or BYD must be hide at the footwell or underneath the seat away from direct sunlight as it might over heat and affect the reliability of equipment.
    Asiaone should try better and get real driver to ask the right questions instead of this facade.
