Greetings Jeff! The exterior is designed to take a lot of abuse from branches, etc, which I took advantage of with narrow forest roads. An externally placed awning would get damaged or torn off. On one occasion we camped near someone with a brand new "offroad" camper trailer which took a lot of damage on exterior plastic vents and whatnot on the road to the site. We just got more pinstripes from the branches.

hmmm.... not to good for rain I guess when it comes to getting in and out of habitat. Fine for sun block I guess.

Yes, it doesn't block rain from the door or steps. I believe there are two reasons why Bliss didn't put a standard awning at the habitat top corner: 1) it's tall and 2) it would be a risk to snap off going through branches/brush. As it is, the habitat doesn't have any outside appendages that can break off in rough stuff.

does your Bliss have a screen door incorporated in the door frame, what do you do if it's buggy out and what to keep the door open? thanks

It has a detachable screen that we can put up. It works to keep most bugs out.

No, it was an option for the Bliss Mobil habitat..
