what you said about keeping the history of the pony was really beautiful and i think you're right. even though they might be mass produced, every pony is special because they've all been loved and gone on their own unique adventures
I agree. I use the same approach when I restore wood furniture - focus on structural integrity, restore it to its original state as much a possible (I only paint it modify if the piece is too far gone to refinish), and honor its history. It doesn't have to (and probably shouldn't) look brand new.
I like your philosophy about restoration. The goal isn't to erase the history of the object, and sometimes the best approach is to leave something alone. I have several Barbie dolls that have green staining at the earring holes, a common problem, that I have chosen not to restore. The reason is that the dolls are otherwise perfect, and restoring the green has the chance of causing damage that isn't currently an issue. The chemicals can cause paint to bleach and fade, and I don't want that for these dolls. So I just accept the green as part of the dolls' history.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 That's also a great point about the "price" of restoring something that you know might affect the rest of the toy. Every treatment we do to these figures we are usually shortening their life (I think that's the case with acetone, for example, so I always try to wash it off completely). There are also materials we have only been using for a few years and don't know what long term effects they may have. So, yes, I agree 😊
I watch the channel of a gentleman who conserves and restores paintings, ranging from modern to medieval, and he and the owners of the paintings have the same philosophy:you want to restore the artists' vision but not take away the paintings' history.
I think there's something special about old things, they have a history to them and this pony's residual marks are cool! I love the colors and markings on this one, thank you for making these videos!
the extra long tails are cute and make me feel sentimental, seeing how long they've survived with the stubby and stained tails. Considering how the soft brushable hair was so important to their identity as a toy, it feels like they're getting to express that quality even more in their second life
Thank you so much for your message and for sharing your memories 😊😊 I also loved cutting the hair, but I can't understand exactly why. It was like a drive... Just wanting to see a change? Unable to picture what it would look like short? xD
I think for me cutting dolls and pony's hair was exciting and new as we were never able to cut our own hair! I remember once trimming a tiny bit of my fringe (bangs) and my mum went crazy haha! Whereas cutting my barbies hair was okay as she didn't have to go to school the next day with a wonky fringe!🤣🤦🏼♀️
For blushing I've seen most doll repainters use pastels. I wonder if paint would have given you better luck if you watered it down more. The blush is super cute so I hope you keep exploring options.
@@RetroGeekCrafts chalk pastels work fine. Most of the repainters i watch use mungyo soft pastels, since theyre quite vibrant. However unlike paint, pastels need a protective layer to lock it in since its just dust. They use Mr super clear matte to seal the pastels, best to use a spray. That spray actually dries matte but im not sure how it will look if you only spray the pony head, the whole pony is already matte vinyl.
Yes! Soft pastels won't crack or flake off like paint. Poppen Atelier's recent Glinda the Good Witch video is a great example of using soft pastels to completely change a doll's skin tone. (She first uses the opposite colour on the colour wheel, like putting pink or red over green, to neutralize the original colour, and then layers on whatever new colour she wants it to be.) Dollightful has a similar video from 2018 where she created an anthropomorphic version of the Pokemon Umbreon and used soft pastels to turn a doll's cream-coloured skin pitch black. HeXtian's recent Juno Birch video shows changing a cream skin tone to pale purple, then blushing it. His Bild Lili doll video shows using soft pastels for body blushing. And he sometimes uses actual human makeup on doll faces, like blush and highlighter. Hope those are useful! All three artists have publicly available lists of all the supplies they use, too. 💜
@@collectablechaoseng Yes, the comment I was replying to already mentioned Mr. Super Clear, as do the videos I recommended. And all the dolltubers I recommended videos from have experimented with a variety of sealants. I never said pastels would work on every surface, but there's no harm in experimenting to see whether they could be useful for what RGC wants to do.
I really appreciate that you list what types of products you use, ex: oxi clean, 40 volume hair developer… etc. it’s really helpful for ppl just starting out liek me who are trying to restore old childhood toys. Not very many CZcamsrs actually do stuff like that.
I feel like your reasoning with keeping the marks on the pony is something that I've always enjoyed about coming across older toys when going through antique shops and thrift stores. While they may need some work, there is a hidden history that while we may never know it, they're a reminder of the things they've gone through and came out of.
I think you wanting to keep the ponies' marks and signs of age is really lovely and well said! While it is really nice to see a toy restored to "factory condition" (or as close as a person can get), it's also equally nice to see them being restored and allowed to carry their memories of play and the damage that may come with that! Keep doing what you love and caring for these ponies!
Oh thank you! That's really nice to know 😊😊 I lost my only pony a looong time ago, but I think I might be able to recognize it by the marks. Of course, I would prefer if it smelt nice and wasn't all rusty like this one :P
I totally agree with your sentiments about damage on Retro toys. I recently got some old Bakugan from an etsy seller and one of them had some pretty bad yellowing in the plastic so the seller offered to trade it for one in better condition, but I declined because I've grown attached to the damaged one. Those spots are like beauty marks to me, and it means my toy is a unique. Though it sounds cheesy to actually type that out lol
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 It's so nice to read that you took the yellowed toy! A lot of people wouldn't have, or just throw them away. I have a teddy bear (since I was 1 year old) and it's missing the nose... I started sewing one, and it looked so strange I took it all off immediately!
@@RetroGeekCrafts i know exactly what you mean. I did a small bit of work on this toy just to get rid of any rust and so that it opened/closed nicely but I left the yellowing alone because at this point he wouldn't look right without it 😭
I want to say I really appreciate the closed captions! Most creators wouldn’t go out of their way to add such nice captions and it helps me a lot as a disabled person! Love your video and gave lots of nostalgia. ❤️
This is surely one the hardest works you had to do with pony's. The stains were too strong, personally I would gave up at the first glance lol. And I totally agree with you about the history with old toys, I have some old dolls in box that I never got the price tag off because I found it really amusing that they were sold for less than 10 bucks and now are out there for hundreds of dollars. I love your channel ❤️
Thank you 😊😊 To be honest, I get super excited when I see a pony in a terrible state, because I can imagine what it could look like once it's restored! I'm always looking for a challenge :D I'm very curious about your collection! Please feel free to share pics of your boxes!!
people in the vintage 'star wars' community will leave the price tags on, too. most people see it as part of the charm, or at least a lesser evil of collecting, plus it often puts the thing in a place and time.
I think blushing the cheeks would be super tricky without airbrushing and you did a great job. I’m glad you showed this part because old ponies tend to lose that feature.
I'm a customizer, and very rarely restore dolls and toys back to factory condition. But I like your philosophy on leaving marks of the past. This pony was horrifically rusty, but you put the love and attention into her to help that fade. She just has a reminder of all that you've for her! I'm going to "update" a few of my old Barbie dolls because their hair was ratty, but otherwise I just want to clean them up and make them pretty again. Your work is always so soft and careful, and I love what you do.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 Cleaning the toys up and styling their hair is normally all you need to bring them back to "life". Although it's nice to restore something that looks as bad as this pony did; it makes me so happy to see the before and after!
I agree about keeping the history of ponies intact. A few of the ponies in my collection have names and initials on their hooves, it reminds me of how I put my initials on my old, long lost childhood ponies.
@@RetroGeekCrafts Yeah! I grew up with G3, I surprisingly still have a single one from my childhood, a raggedy little Water Fire, initials still on her hooves! I'm gonna try fixing her up one of these days :D
i think the blushing turned out super well!! i also wanted to mention how much i love the voiceover part, i like watching your videos especially when i'm doing something with my hands (this time i'm villager hunting in animal crossing, but usually it's while i'm cooking!) and it's really nice having someone talk about what they're doing while doing it!
Thank you so much! 😊😊 That's great to know. Awww Animal Crossing sounds so cute, I don't have a Switch but I'm considering a second hand one for these holidays. I love Stardew Valley (PC game, pixel art, similar atmosphere) but it's very lonely in comparison!
@@RetroGeekCrafts ah i love stardew!! i've played it so much on PC and you can actually get it on the switch as well. sadly, you can't install mods on the switch like you can on the PC version, but i still love it! i definitely recommend getting one second hand if you can!! animal crossing has genuinely brought me so much joy and playing the switch release is a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the series! as an update: i got the villager i was hunting when i commented originally!! his name is sasha and he is very cute!
She looks so pretty!!! She was all rusty, couldn't really move, and quite sad. I'm positive that she appreciated the rust removal and bath. She feels great and alive again! Keep doing what you are doing, bringing the spark and life back to these toys!
Thanks to you i successfully restored a pony!! I found a lovely sweet tooth twice as fancy from the 80’s for cheap, i cleaned her and fixed her up all nice following your videos and she came out almost perfect. So thank you for your work!
I’ve seen doll repainters use pastels, or barring that, real blush make up to add the blush, the only issue is it can wear off if it isn’t sealed with a matte spray. I can’t believe you got that much rust off. I recently found out that the washers were originally used to help balance the ponies because the heads were so heavy they’d fall forward (in my memory they still did). I don’t remember the family sets, but this pony reminds me of one I had called Blossom, I think.
Thank you so much for the tip! 😊😊 You're correct, the washers were first used to balance the ponies, especially in the first design which would always fall forward. But I still can't understand why they chose to put metal weights in the sea ponies. The ponies that everyone took to the bath! :P
I think it's awesome that you keep the ponies history. You've fixed the problems without changing everything. Restoration and customising are two separate things that share a lot of overlap.
what you said about liking the pony for it's damage was so sweet!! especially with the comparison to your own body it made me smile at the video haha i agree with keeping the pony as it is because im sure she had a great life with her past owner and it would be a sad to erase that
OMG!! I didn't think you could save her! But here she is - and the marks you couldn't get rid of look like they blend in with the flower design. She is so gorgeous!
Oh!! 🥺 This brought back memories of my childhood. In the early 2000s, we moved into a new house. My brother found a whole collection of these my little pony toys in the shed in the backyard. We cleaned them up and they were some of my favourite toys- I wonder what ever happened to them!
This pony turned out perfectly lovely, as usual, which is INCREDIBLE considering the state it was in. I can't believe the transformation! Seriously! I'm just blown away. Kudos to you for your perseverance. 💜 (Also, using zip ties for the tail is just genius. I keep meaning to comment about that and then forget, but it seemed especially relevant for this video. NO RUST EVER AGAIN.)
Thank you 😊😊 I'm really glad you liked the result! (I think I had read about the cable ties in one of the G1 restoration groups on Facebook but I can't remember where! It's not my original idea 😊)
I stumbled on this accidentally. I was born in 81 and had the pony family when I was young. So a lot of nostalgia but I want to say this came out really good. And so did the blush. And the hair being long - more to comb with one those little brushes that came w them :)
I love your attempt at blushing! If you're looking for a more "makeup" type look, the strategy you took is a great one. However, if you would like to try for a more "natural" style of blush, I find that using a color a few shades darker and slightly redder than the skintone of the doll(pony, person, etc) will yield an easy soft look. Either way, I wish you much success!
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 I will definitely try a few new things for the next blushing session, thanks for the tips!
i agree with you about the marks! i dont do much restoration myself, but whenever i find ponies that have marks prior to coming to me, i like finding the little scuffs and stuff. :] it just reminds me that this pony was loved! it's really a beautiful sentiment that you shared. and a wonderful job done!!
This is the 2nd toy restoration I have watched. I watched it because I had one as a kid she was purple 💜 & her name was blossom 🌸 I believe she had white flowers. Looks like she was loved almost to death :/ glad she found a new home :)
Besides the sentimental value of the markings, I actually think the light bleaching makes her look quite pretty, a bit like a paint horse even! MLP has kinda always had a critical lack of interesting coat patterns on the ponies from what I've seen throughout my life, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing I DO think it kinda starts to become bland as time goes on.
As an 80s baby you really did this pony good 👍. I'm loving keeping it original and letting her age show a bit. Thanks I love the apple jack one personally and have quite a few still that my mom kept. For blushing I learned to use like pastels ground up to like makeup and a soft brush then you seal it with Mr super clear to seal the work.
I totally agree with what you said! Keep them as natural as possible. And the stuff they must of whitened in their lifetime. I love that your rescuing so many and giving them the love and tlc they deserve💕
I've never hired or been hired to do restorations, but I can tell you they take a lot (lot!) of hours. And in the majority of the cases, the ponies are not worth that much themselves - except they are made in another country or very rare. This pony, for example, is about $10 on eBay. I put 10 hours of work into it and maybe another $10 on materials. It's still $10. As a hobby, though, it's really interesting to do! 😊😊
A good tip is to add the peroxide cream *inside* the body as well. I've found that works well with rust and inner staining (especially with glitter ponies). And I TOTALLY agree with you about something keeping the marks of the past. There is a charm to it, especially if its your age and older :)
I know exactly how you feel. Things tie us to our past, our personal past as well as ancestral past. I have inherited several pieces of furniture that my grandfather made. They are not perfect but I display both prominently in my home. I never met my grandfather but by displaying his work (warts and all) I feel like it keeps his presence alive in our family. Whether its a valuable antique or a vinyl toy if it preserves good memories than it deserves to be loved.
Indeed! Thank you so much for sharing this. I have my grandmother's handmade napkins and tablecloths from her wedding and it's one of the most important things I own. It connects me to her (and the entire family line, I feel) 🥰 These toys might not be that old, but they already have a lot of stories to tell!
try mixing the blush colour with the base colour of the pony (in this case pink) for a subtler result :) super impressed with the end result! amazing how you got rid of those severe marks!
It's unbelievable how much you were able to get that stain removed. I was so intimidated by her, so I'm so glad she ended up in your hands. She is amazing.
these videos are so relaxing and it's so sweet to see you give these poor ponies another chance. oddly enough, when you said you appreciated all the marks on the ponies just like the marks on your own body, it made me feel a bit better about myself. your voice is also very nice to listen to as well! your work is amazing, mrs. bright bouquet looks absolutely stunning ❤️
You don't get that far as a good momma without a few body marks and blemishes. Take pride, Momma Bouquet, you raised many many wonderful kids, and the love shows! Hehe, good work. It's nice seeing a well loved toy getting a well deserved refresh :)
i’ve been watching for a little while but never commented, but i just wanted to say i love the voiceovers especially since you’ve been doing them for a little while and gained so much confidence with them ☺️ beautiful work as always! and i agree with you, toys this old with this kind of damage aren’t ever going to look completely brand new again, and i think that’s okay. this pony has a history that’s unique to her, and to me it’s perfectly fine that it shows 💕
Thank you so much!! This is so nice to read. Doing the voiceovers is never easy (listening to your own voice is always strange, especially when you're a ball of anxiety like me) but I actually really enjoy it. I'm really glad you liked the pony, marks included 😊😊
I did not know this was even possible. Thank you! What a gift you have! I have always loved the idea of celebrating vintage toys but wow nothing like this has even crossed my mind!
I like that you keep marks like that on a pony, tbh. It would be fun looking through someone's collection and seeing ponies with all different backstories and histories to them lol. They all have a story.
I personally would've redone it, but that's kind of the special part to keep in mind. Everyone's different. I feel like giving a doll a renewed life is very beautiful, but I wouldn't blame someone for cleaning the doll up and leaving the marks. I have plenty of scars I can't fix up too after all. It depends on your own personal preference, and everyone's is different. 🥰
This was very wholesome; I personally try hard to bring the pony back to its original condition, so removing every little mark is what I aim to do. But sometimes there are those little marks that just want to stay, and they somehow become part of the memory. I have a Perfume Puff pony who has some sort of whiteboard marker stains on one side of her body, and I left them there because I like to think that whoever owned it in the past was getting a bit artsy. You did a great job, and I'll be sure to try your blushing technique!
Thank you 😊😊 I wholeheartedly agree. Sometimes the pony tells you what they want to "be" after the repairs. In this case, I liked the marks but also I was also a little scared that dying the pony could damage the paint -- so it was a compromise. Both :)
Love how she turned out. 🥰 I'm going to have to try to collect this whole family. I've never restored any ponies but with cabbage patch kids with vinyl heads I actually just use my own blush...its really easy to just use water to remove it and I can adjust until it looks perfect. 🙃
Thank you so much for your message and tips! 😊😊 Using "human" blush seems to be a great idea! I just got some chalk pastels but I will also use a makeup sponge.
I think it's nice to see some of the history the toy has gone through. I like seeing a full restoration and this sort of partial restoration too (as well as customs). They all have a unique energy to them. Also adding that for the blush adding a tiny bit of water may help as well as making the color slightly less strong. Worth a try!
8:08 I think the same way with my old littlest pet shops from the 2010’s. My ones from my childhood are too precious to me the fix up. I don’t mind the sun damage and the chipped paint because it reminds me of all the good times I had with them.
@@RetroGeekCrafts That’d be super cool! I’ve seen it done on Instagram but not on youtube yet. One day I’ll repair some too, but not my sentimental ones.
That was really wholesome about liking the marks on the pony and your own body. I always love the “impurities” of my own toys, especially my stuffed animals. It gives them a unique look that I will always adore. They’ll always be perfect to me
That was awesome! I have never seen a pony restoration before and I must say it was really fun! I also love your love for them. Great video thanks for sharing! The result was almost shocking! So beautiful!!!
wow, the rust on this! Poor Pony, but you did wonders to her and she looks amazing!! I think I've said thank you so many times by now but I'm truly honored that you showed off the fanart
Very impressed with the outcome on this one. Lots of people would have tossed it as a lost cause. For the blush on the cheeks, a dry brush technique should work. Probably any number of videos on here showing how to do it better than I could explain it. I like knowing a bit about an objects life. It’s old, it has history, some more than others. Sometimes they clean up like new, and sometimes they had a tough life. Let each one tell you its own story and only restore it to the point you want it. I like to restore old and antique hand tools. Sometimes if they saw little use, I can make them look brand new. Sometimes I end up with some that were well used, but cared for. I like to reconditioning those to good working order with with as little change to originality as possible. Let the individual pony tell you what it wants. I like, that in other videos, you leave the name on the bottom of the pony. It lets you know, that some one, years ago, loved it, and it was special to them... btw, if anyone has a somewhat battered c.1984 Megatron with J.S.B. scratched into the bottom of the right foot, it’s mine, and I’d like it back, please and thank you 😸
Thank you so much Jason 😊😊 I like what you said about letting EACH toy tell you what they want to be (how restored they want to get, so to say). There shouldn't be a rule that applies to all. I'll be on the lookout for your Megatron! Who knows, it might show up on a British carboot sale. Oh, and I need to try the dry brushing technique, thank you! I'm getting too comfy with my own techniques instead of learning from others. I should research more :D
i wasn't a big fan of g1 ponies, something about their heads was kinda off to me. but after your videos i softened to them, now old ponies seem kind and charming in their own way!
Wow im so happy this pony could be saved. I still have all my original Ponys from the 80's and early 90's and they all still look like new. Shocking to see how some kids mistreated their Ponys.
I definitely agree with the aging and history of old things. I’m 25 and grew up loving my little pony g4. My mom had me get rid of my ponies a few years ago but I kept one as a special memory. That one was twinkle-twirl because she was really the first pony I got as a gift from my mom and it’s very special to me…
I'm amazed by your skill! I own the exact pony from my childhood days. Now my children are playing with it (and the other family members). Luckily, they're not damaged at all. Just some light stains here and there. I will keep in mind everything I've learned here for the future ❤️
it's really amazing what you did with this pony! many people would've probably threw away a toy so rusted. and i definitely agree with you on the marks topic! they also give the pony a little bit of a character :3
I almost cried when I saw the thumbnail but im glad you gave her the TLC she needed, I only change things when im actually customing a pony I dont usually use G1s for that usually G3s and I keep the G1s origanal as posable when I do a restoration :)
I love your voice overs! this was a supe sweet video and I really enjoyed it! For blushing a technique I use is chalk pastel and a brush! its much easier to control than paint and can give a more even blush. though you should seal it after applying because it can wipe off easily! I think the blushing you did here is great anyway though! beautiful restoration as always
When I do blushing on things I use pastels or add a little white to red. I use the sponge and the finger trick. And also a little water on a napkin if I am not happy. I have also seen q-tip smudging used. But I love watching your techniques! I learn so much from you! Thank you!
It's great to know that the sponge and finger wasn't a bad idea! 😊😊 I need to try pastels, I wouldn't even know which ones to get. But I know they're very popular, especially with dolls, so I'm excited to try. Thank you for the tips!
Totally on board with your opinion about the discoloration, I super agree! And it doesn't even look bad, it's faint enough as well. However, I'd also love to see a video on which you show us how to recolor a pony, it'd be really nice to found out how it's done! Also, great job as always! that was definitely a though one, and you totally nailed it! She looks amazing in the final result!
Thank you 😊😊 I definitely want to try recolouring a pony, because it's not something I'm very good at the moment! So it should be a good learning opportunity!
I love the lived in look. These are toys, to love them often means that you play with them. One of my most sentimental toys is a yellow kitty puppet I drew a mouth on. Ofc I could wash her and get it off but that’s proof little me loved her to bits 🥰
amazing restoration!! for the blush i would recommend using chalk pastels but you will need to use a sealant. my personal favorite is mr super clear, you would spray 1-2 coats so the pastel will adhere to the plastic and then one final coat to seal it all in. the only downside is that it is toxic so you make sure you use a respirator!
I’m my opinion when a toy has some marks that show it’s old then it makes the toy even more special! Because that just shows what happened to the toy when it was brand new :D
I've still got all my ponies, I just googled what generations the first ones were from. So I started off with Lickety Split, but I also have 2 or 3 from G2 from 1983. That´s about when I started, being born in 1980. Mine are all in pretty good condition and I wouldn´t give them away. Thank you for the interesting video! I always wanted to know how they secured the mane and tail on the ponies :D!
Very cute result and I agree with you, restore some time doesn't mean you need to erase every marks from the toy to make it as perfect as possible, sometimes just some TLC is more than enough. For the blushing I would suggest you to pick some chalk pastels, pass them on sandpaper in order to get a fine sand, and then using a cheap make up brush and passing it ligthly on the zone you need to blush and then fix it with some clear matt varnish, like MR. Super Clear from Mr. Hobby, ( careful beacuse it's toxic so you need a mask to use it and leving it to dry for 30 minutes, there are several doll customizers use that trick and it's always amazing the result, like Moonlight Jewels, Enchanterium or Dollightful if you want to take a look at how they do it). 👏 🙂
Thank you 😊😊 I'm buying chalk pastels right now! I had seen them used in dolls but I have never ever tried them (you know how you're sometimes scared of certain products for no reason other than not being familiar with them). I need to get some Super Clean, they don't sell it here but I think I can get it from... Japan? Seems to be the closest one. Thank you again for all the tips!!
I enjoy listening to you speak, and coupled with the sounds, songs and video editing, the whole video feels very relaxing as I watch you restore vintage ponies.
I love what you said about the marks on her vinyl!💜 She turned out beautiful!!! Im so glad you helped her!! My childhood ponies have a few marks that I have left because of the memories attached to them. Ive only given them a thorough clean, hairstyles, and tails to the tailless ones.
I share your sentiment about letting old toys look old. I have a few vintage ponies myself and all I did when I got them was give them a bath and brush their hair. They weren’t in bad condition to begin with so nothing more was needed.
I'm an avid horse/pony obsessed lover. Am 21 years old almost, and those animals have been my life and passion ever since I was in the womb. Been in the saddle since 3 years old. I have a ton of my little pony toys somewhere, unless they've been thrown out that I've had since 2004/2005. One day if they haven't been thrown, I'd like to try and find them. They might either be in the shed in the garden or in the loft of my house.
I feel that your philosophy is a good one. For me, it's fine if the whole body gets bleached when the end result is uniform, especially for a pony with such a soft color to begin with. Very few will ever know just by looking at it, and that's impressive all on its own.
I love how she turned out and I agree with your philosophy. I love these videos so much. There's something very relaxing about listening to and watching you restore these. Thanks for all the great videos! She turned out beautiful!
what you said about keeping the history of the pony was really beautiful and i think you're right. even though they might be mass produced, every pony is special because they've all been loved and gone on their own unique adventures

For blushing I've seen most doll repainters use pastels. I wonder if paint would have given you better luck if you watered it down more. The blush is super cute so I hope you keep exploring options.
That's a good idea! I've never used pastels (wouldn't even know what to get. I need to watch videos!!). Thank you 😊😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts chalk pastels work fine.
(She first uses the opposite colour on the colour wheel, like putting pink or red over green, to neutralize the original colour, and then layers on whatever new colour she wants it to be.)
Dollightful has a similar video from 2018 where she created an anthropomorphic version of the Pokemon Umbreon and used soft pastels to turn a doll's cream-coloured skin pitch black.
I also think using a pink instead of red or something more similar to the skin tone would help!
It is not pretentious to keep the history of the pony. It is respecting and paying tribute to the past. That’s beautiful. ❤️
I really appreciate that you list what types of products you use, ex: oxi clean, 40 volume hair developer… etc. it’s really helpful for ppl just starting out liek me who are trying to restore old childhood toys. Not very many CZcamsrs actually do stuff like that.
I'm so glad you find the videos helpful and that you're restoring toys too! Thank you so much for your message 😊😊
I feel like your reasoning with keeping the marks on the pony is something that I've always enjoyed about coming across older toys when going through antique shops and thrift stores. While they may need some work, there is a hidden history that while we may never know it, they're a reminder of the things they've gone through and came out of.
Thank you for your message, I'm so glad you feel the same way 😊😊
I think you wanting to keep the ponies' marks and signs of age is really lovely and well said!
Thank you 😊😊
I'm a customizer, and very rarely restore dolls and toys back to factory condition.
That's so nice to hear, I also always try to keep the initials ☺️☺️ (I also regret not writing mine on my pony, it might still be out there!)
I think so too 😊😊 Thank you so much for your message!
Thanks to you i successfully restored a pony!! I found a lovely sweet tooth twice as fancy from the 80’s for cheap, i cleaned her and fixed her up all nice following your videos and she came out almost perfect. So thank you for your work!
Ohhh that's so great to hear!! I'm so glad the videos were useful and you got to bring a pony back to its former glory 😊😊
Thank you 😊😊
what you said about liking the pony for it's damage was so sweet!! especially with the comparison to your own body it made me smile at the video haha
i agree with keeping the pony as it is because im sure she had a great life with her past owner and it would be a sad to erase that
I'm so glad you feel the same way 😊😊
(Also, using zip ties for the tail is just genius.
There’s something about watching a pony restoration that just has me in awe
I love her purple shiny luscious mane and tail! So beautiful!
Thank you so much 😊😊 I'm glad you feel the same way about the marks!
Thank you 😊😊
I wish toy restoration and other repair services were more accessible. Always so relaxing watching your restorations.
Ohhhh, this is a great tip! I never thought of that 🤔 Hmmm. Thank you 😊😊
I know exactly how you feel.
Ohhh that's a great tip!!! I need to try that. Thank you so much 😊😊
It's unbelievable how much you were able to get that stain removed. I was so intimidated by her, so I'm so glad she ended up in your hands. She is amazing.
Thank you so much 😊😊
these videos are so relaxing and it's so sweet to see you give these poor ponies another chance. oddly enough, when you said you appreciated all the marks on the ponies just like the marks on your own body, it made me feel a bit better about myself. your voice is also very nice to listen to as well!
your work is amazing, mrs. bright bouquet looks absolutely stunning ❤️
You don't get that far as a good momma without a few body marks and blemishes. Take pride, Momma Bouquet, you raised many many wonderful kids, and the love shows!
Hehe, good work. It's nice seeing a well loved toy getting a well deserved refresh :)
That's so true ☺️ I'm glad you feel this way too! Thank you so much for your message 🥰
i’ve been watching for a little while but never commented, but i just wanted to say i love the voiceovers especially since you’ve been doing them for a little while and gained so much confidence with them ☺️ beautiful work as always! and i agree with you, toys this old with this kind of damage aren’t ever going to look completely brand new again, and i think that’s okay. this pony has a history that’s unique to her, and to me it’s perfectly fine that it shows 💕
Thank you so much!! This is so nice to read. Doing the voiceovers is never easy (listening to your own voice is always strange, especially when you're a ball of anxiety like me) but I actually really enjoy it. I'm really glad you liked the pony, marks included 😊😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts isn't my little pony a girls toy
@@mehchocolate1257 no it can be for who ever wants it and if you have a problem with that then you can stay out of it
@@cushla_de_arteest ur mom can stay out of it 😂😂😂😂
@@mehchocolate1257 what has my mum got to do with this?
I did not know this was even possible. Thank you! What a gift you have! I have always loved the idea of celebrating vintage toys but wow nothing like this has even crossed my mind!
I had this pony as a kid. Brings back memories.
She looks so clean afterwards! I love these videos, they're satisfying and educational.
Thank you 😊😊
I miss when the ponies looked like this! So cute & sweet ☺️ ahhh childhood
I like that you keep marks like that on a pony, tbh. It would be fun looking through someone's collection and seeing ponies with all different backstories and histories to them lol. They all have a story.
That's true 😊😊 Thank you so much!!
I love watching restoration videos.
The ones with the rusty toy trucks were the only ones I could found.
UNTIL NOW! 🙃🤗
Thank you 😊😊 Thank you for the tip about the blushing! That makes a lot of sense!!
I've always loved pony's, and seeing someone restoring ones that seem impossible to fix makes me so happy as I try to do the same
Thank you 😊😊 Do try! It's a great hobby!

I think the same way with my old littlest pet shops from the 2010’s. My ones from my childhood are too precious to me the fix up. I don’t mind the sun damage and the chipped paint because it reminds me of all the good times I had with them.
I'm glad you agree 😊 I love LPS! I'd love to repair / repaint one one day!
They’ll always be perfect to me
Thank you 🥰☺️ I agree wholeheartedly!
That was awesome! I have never seen a pony restoration before and I must say it was really fun! I also love your love for them. Great video thanks for sharing! The result was almost shocking! So beautiful!!!
8:01 “i like these marks like i like i like the marks on my own body” is genuinely one of the sweetest things i’ve heard…
wow, the rust on this! Poor Pony, but you did wonders to her and she looks amazing!!
I think I've said thank you so many times by now but I'm truly honored that you showed off the fanart
Thank YOU again ☺️🥰
Thank you so much. It actually makes me really happy to hear I helped them charm you a little 😊😊
Wow im so happy this pony could be saved.
That one was twinkle-twirl because she was really the first pony I got as a gift from my mom and it’s very special to me…
I do doll restorations and I always enjoy finding out the tools and materials you use to clean up the stubborn stained ponies.
I'm amazed by your skill! I own the exact pony from my childhood days. Now my children are playing with it (and the other family members). Luckily, they're not damaged at all. Just some light stains here and there. I will keep in mind everything I've learned here for the future ❤️
Is beautiful and super adorable 😗😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much 😊😊
I love the idea of keeping some of the marks. Truly special!❤️
I'm glad you liked it 😊😊
it's really amazing what you did with this pony! many people would've probably threw away a toy so rusted. and i definitely agree with you on the marks topic! they also give the pony a little bit of a character :3

I almost cried when I saw the thumbnail but im glad you gave her the TLC she needed, I only change things when im actually customing a pony I dont usually use G1s for that usually G3s and I keep the G1s origanal as posable when I do a restoration :)
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊 I need to use more G3s! I just wish I could find some in need of repairs, they ar mostly in great condition!
Thank you so much for your words and your tips!! ☺️☺️
I love your philosophy about the marks.
Thank you so much!! 😊😊
What a nice tool kit you have! God I LOVE well-organized tooly things!
By the way the pony looks LOVELY!
Thanks so much! 😊 That's my most decent-looking toolbox, the rest of the room is a mess :P
I've found I cant be as creative or enjoy a project as much if I have disorganized tools.
She turned out so pretty, I bet she's loving her make-over.
Thank you 😊😊 I hope she is!!
"Lived in look", I love this! 🥰☺️ Anf a Kitty puppet sounds so cute!!! I lost my first pony but I still have my teddy bear 🐻
This one was so satisfying, rust can actually be easily removed from anything, just need to be prepared !
Thank you 😊😊 Yes! Rust looks scary at first but it's actually one of the easiest things to clean. Permanent marker, though, that's a different story!
amazing restoration!! for the blush i would recommend using chalk pastels but you will need to use a sealant. my personal favorite is mr super clear, you would spray 1-2 coats so the pastel will adhere to the plastic and then one final coat to seal it all in. the only downside is that it is toxic so you make sure you use a respirator!
I’m my opinion when a toy has some marks that show it’s old then it makes the toy even more special! Because that just shows what happened to the toy when it was brand new :D
I agree 😊😊 Thank you for your message!
I like your philosophy, it's comforting to hear.
Thank you so much ☺️☺️
Since I never played with the g1, I love seeing all the different models and the different ways the toys were made
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊
i love how you talked about the pony and explaned the steps to do this its amazing
Thank you so much 😊😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts you are very welcome
i think restoring the blush a bit is especially cute for this pony, the blush matches her unique spots a bit!!
Thank you 😊😊
I really like the message about not getting rid of the past and liking the bumbs and marks that you or in this case the pony have:)
Thank you 😊😊
Very cute result and I agree with you, restore some time doesn't mean you need to erase every marks from the toy to make it as perfect as possible, sometimes just some TLC is more than enough.

You have amazing talent and skill. I’m in awe of you.
awhe i felt so sad seeing the pony all worn out without it's mane and tail :( i'm glad you made it beautiful again
I share your sentiment about letting old toys look old. I have a few vintage ponies myself and all I did when I got them was give them a bath and brush their hair. They weren’t in bad condition to begin with so nothing more was needed.
I'm glad you agree and you took such good care of your toys 😊
I'm an avid horse/pony obsessed lover. Am 21 years old almost, and those animals have been my life and passion ever since I was in the womb. Been in the saddle since 3 years old. I have a ton of my little pony toys somewhere, unless they've been thrown out that I've had since 2004/2005. One day if they haven't been thrown, I'd like to try and find them. They might either be in the shed in the garden or in the loft of my house.
Awww that's so nice to read 😊😊 Thank you for sharing this message. I hope you can find your ponies!!
I feel that your philosophy is a good one. For me, it's fine if the whole body gets bleached when the end result is uniform, especially for a pony with such a soft color to begin with. Very few will ever know just by looking at it, and that's impressive all on its own.
Thank you 😊💕 Now I'd be really interested in seeing a 100% bleached Bright Bouquet!!
i love keeping the marks, they're like scars of past adventures!
I love how she turned out and I agree with your philosophy. I love these videos so much. There's something very relaxing about listening to and watching you restore these. Thanks for all the great videos! She turned out beautiful!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Oh, I remember these ponys 🤩 Never had one myself but I sure remember these toys 🥰
Quedó precioso!!!!!! Felicitaciones!! Un pony con nueva vida. Gran trabajo.
i think the pony is thankful for her make-over!
