1983 My Little Pony G1 Parasol Argentina Vintage Toy Restoration Rehair- MLP Hasbro Top Toys Nirvana

- This My Little Pony Parasol was made in Argentina in 1983 (it's what's called a "Nirvana" pony, in this case manufactured by Top Toys). Parasol was sent to me by Paola and Kitty, alongside a beautiful drawing of a rainbow pony :) It needed some work. I cleaned it with soap and oxi, untangled the tail (which took AGES but I feel was worth it in the end), rehaired the mane and repainted the symbols. The pony is now on its way back to Germany.

It's so fun seeing variations of the ponies I grew up with. Great job color matching those funky colors lol!
Some Top Toys (Argie) ponies are really out there in terms of colours. From what I heard, they weren't a fan of following Hasbro guidelines :P I had lots of help from Shimmer Locks matching the hair!
@@RetroGeekCrafts did you keep parasol
Wow! She looks amazing! So exciting to see our hair used on such an amazing restoration! You are incredibly talented ^_^
Thank you! I know you helped Paola pick the best colours. I really couldn't be happier with the result, your hair is AMAZING :)
@@RetroGeekCrafts I'm guessing that English is not your first language huge language barrier here
I was so saddened to see you don't have more subscribers than you are deserving of!! Your format is great and relaxing, and the work you do is lovely. Please continue this series! And your personality is just as lovely and sweet as these ponies!! God bless you and keep you, my dear friend. ❤️☺️❤️🙏🏻❤️✝️
Thank you so much for your lovely message :) I only started the channel recently and I'm learning a lot and having tons of fun doing these restorations, so I will keep uploading even if the community is small-ish ❤️ No pony left behind!
@@RetroGeekCrafts youshould look into restoring Breyer model horses since you like restoring g1 mlp figures
She looks amazing!! I really love the colors of the Argie ponies.
She's a beauty! I really, really like the Argie Parasol -- sorry, non-argies :P
I felt your pain watching you pull apart the tail
She looks lovely!
Haha thank you! I thought it was going to be quite straightforward -- then I realized the hair was not just tangled but "glued" together by rust and dirt. I was close to just throwing it in the bin, to be honest xD
It looks so lovely!! You did a great job! Question though, when do you decide that the hair isn't worth reusing? I would've just started from scratch on her tail after seeing the washer mess! XD Great job again!!
I always try to keep as much of the original pony as possible mostly because there's a limited number of these G1s around. Having said that, 1) This was a challenge and I was definitely close to giving up and happily backtracking on my "vintage restoration rules" a couple of times, 2) I decided to add new hair to the old and I think it worked better. A completely new tail would have been a little too shiny and "perfect" while the combination makes it look more what it actually is: A 40-year-old toy that has been played with and loved by someone. The hair has history xD Thank you so much for watching and commenting :)
@@RetroGeekCrafts oh ok! You have more patience than me haha. Good job and great work! Can’t wait for the next one! 🥰
@@dollylollyplaytime8552 Thank you!!
I'm amazed at all the effort you put into this and how they always turn beautiful and brand-new looking! I hope we can see more videos of pony restoration, good job!
Thank you so much for watching and for your words! I hope I can upload the next one soon, I've been working on a pony for ages but I had some problems with the paint and to re-do it several times :(
I cant believe I’m bingeing my little pony toy restoration videos but here I am. I applaud you for your patience and your skill! Honestly I would have just scrapped everything and repainted/rerooted. And your lines are so c l e a n! You make this look fun- and now I kinda wanna do it!
Thanks so much! 😊 You should definitely give it a try, it's a very satisfying hobby and it's not difficult! Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help.
@@RetroGeekCrafts Omg you’re amazing! I’ll definitely give it a try when I have time!😁
I love her italian flag hair 😆💗
It's a great colour combination, isn't it? I love this pony.
@@RetroGeekCrafts yes it’s adorable!🥰 I absolutely love your pony restoration vids, been bingeing them a lot lately 💗
@@klafairy04 Thank you!! :) :)
Hungarian🇭🇺
I love the Aquafresh color pallete.
The WHOLE time I'm thinking Italian colors 😂 Parasol pulls it off so nicely with that pink body!
I think someone tried to make her into a Christmas pony judgeing by the green mane and tail red and sliver cutie mark.
She's actually like that originally! But her colours are so different because she's made in Argentina (Hasbro worked with a local company called Top Toys in the 80s). Now that I look at her, though, she makes for a great Christmas pony! You can see some other pretty variants here: mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Parasol
@@RetroGeekCrafts oh wow that’s so cool I didn’t know that!!
I don’t know how you keep your hand so steady! Awesome video!
Ah, it's the magic of video editing! :P Thank you :)
So much respect for all your efforts. The results are amazing 👍🏼🦄
Thank you so much 😊😊
La cola te quedó REALMENTE muy hermosa amo la forma que tomo
Muchas gracias 😊😊
Saw the new upload and it immediately put a smile on my face!! ^_^
I love reading that!! Thank you so much :) Now we're both smiling :P
These videos started getting recommended to me and honestly… so relaxing lol loving what you do! ❤️
😊 Thank you so much!
the new/old hair color matches amaze me
This is such a work of art! You are an amazing, talented artist...to be able to restore these toys is just wonderful to see..thank you for posting and please keep up the great work 🙂
Wow, thank you so much for your message! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, Parasol is still one of my favourite ponies 🥰
This one is sooooo amazing!!!
At the end of the video I'm always like "hmm...yep! That's a pony I wanna play with!"
That's the best seal of approval I can think of 😊😊
Quedó como nueva. Gran trabajo.
Muchísimas gracias 😊😊
yeeey new pony restoration video :D
I'm happy you're watching!
I like that they designed you your own new ponysona. Sweet!
☺️☺️
You are fantastic !!
☺️🥰❤️
I'm pretty sure I had an umbrella pony growing up, though I do remember it having different colors on the mane than the one in the video.
The "normal" Parasol has different colours, this one is made in Argentina where they had different guidelines. If you do a search for "mlp g1 parasol" you can see the Hong Kong version/. That's probably the one you had! (also rainbow hair, but different colours and the umbrellas are pink)
Как всегда, прекрасно получилось!
Спасибо :)
WHY DONT YOU HAVE 100 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!?!?!?!? THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!
Hahaha thank you so much 😊😊
Do you think that this'll work for G4's as I've got a few that have pen/marker on them & I can't get it off.
I don't actually own any G4s (shame on me) so I'm not sure if the plastic composition is the same. Brighter colors are, I think, always a little riskier. I'd suggest you join one of the repair and restoration groups on Facebook and ask, just to be safe! Having said that, blue pen marks are really difficult to get out in G1s, be prepared to be extremely patient :)
I love your videos you’re so Amazing and you did your best great job 😇😇😇👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😊😊
Great work, good luck in the development of the channel, l hope you will have more subscribers!
Thank you! I'm glad there are others who enjoy restorations. I hope to upload at least one video a week :)
Is so so so cool 🤩
Thank you so much for watching :) :)
I absolutely love it!
Thank you so much!
gorgeous 💖
Thank you -- she is :)
man they really loved that flourescent reddish pink hair xD
Haha yes!!
Qué belleza!! Excelente!!!
Muchas gracias!! 😊😊
amazing!!!
Thank you for watching! :P
I'm sorry but doesn't the mane remain you of the Italian flag? 🇮🇹 (flag nerd)
been watching your videos a lot recently and they're so nice and relaxing.
It does!! 😊😊 Thank you so much for watching, I'm so glad you're enjoying them!
I would have played with these when I was a kid, assuming my parents approved. Lol Boys playing with dolls was a no no get beaten for it in our house.
I'm so sorry you had to grow up in what sounds like a terrible home. I hope things are better for you now. I only had one pony growing up that got stolen, so I can assure you it's never too late to get another (or many) :) The collector groups are also really friendly, lots of boys showing their ponies proudly 🥰
have you ever tried boil washing hair? it's used a lot to help defrizz/straighten bratz doll hair (adding fabric softener helps too)
I haven't yet, but I'd love to try! So you boil the hair in a mix of water and conditioner, or do you rinse the hair with the boiling water? At what point do you add the conditioner? Thank you for the tip!!
@@RetroGeekCrafts czcams.com/video/EhzRb9rIMs0/video.html czcams.com/video/Ro6cWlWUbhY/video.html here's some tutorials, but it's mainly dipping the hair in boiling water, combing it, and repeat! you could add conditioner to the water or just comb it through the hair
I don't understand the color choice for this pony lol what we're they thinking?
This pony was made by Top Toys in Argentina... let's say they're not precisely known for respecting Hasbro's color guidelines! That's why these ponies are so collectable, they look very different!
The colors on the tail kinda remind me of the Mexican flag :0
That's true! Viva México! :)
Or the Italian Flag.
As an American whos blood came from italy. Both flags are very similar from each other
Look at that hair,girl
😊😊
Obrigada você me fez perceber uma nova receita para fazer cabelo eu posso ir agora cuidar do cabelo da
Me alegra mucho que haya ayudado 😊😊
Mui linda😍
Gracias 😊😊
Si sisisi
Sorry but I can't help thinking “Italy pony” when I see the hair
Definitely! I need to do an Italy custom (it's where my entire family comes from!) 🇮🇹❤️
My Littaly a-Pony
Green, white and red (pink?) hair? Mexican pony 😁
Yay! Viva México 😊😊
Would acetone remove the pen marks?
Usually, it's not enough. You need peroxide and UV light or sunlight. Pen marks fade in about 2-3 weeks.
@@RetroGeekCrafts Got it!! Also, I love your videos!!
Hola podrias hacer un video explicando el rehair de la cabeza ? y que aguja utilizas ?
Estoy trabajando en uno!!
Acabo de ver el vidio de Anita jajaj
Why did you keep the original tail and not just rehair the whole thing it would have looked better, was there a reason?
I always try to keep as much of the original as possible. Collectors tend to prefer it this way. With this nylon hair, it looks almost the same but because Argentinian ponies are very rare, (believe it or not) their value is actually higher when they have the original!
Why do the cleaning products you use have English writing on them if you live in Argentina?
I was born in Argentina but I live in England :) I frequently buy ponies from there, though, and get them sent to my family who then send them to me.

Yay ☺️
Why did I read a part as: *hot dog water*
LOL imagine that xD
