I think i realized why i like upright slap
Its a mix if percussion and string so its like a one man band

In mexico there is a variation of upright bass that is called tololoche, it’s a little bit smaller and uses nylon strings, it’s commonly used in corridos, they uses a similar technique that is called chicoteo, it’s basically a mix of bass and percussion, they also do the same with acoustic basses, check it out!!
