    It Can Happen to You
    DVD539-S - 2001
Even with all required roof protection in place, roof falls still can happen. This video stresses the importance of always being aware of your work environment and the ever changing conditions. You will hear from two survivors of roof fall accidents, one a roof bolter, and the other a continuous miner operator.

I use to work in a deep underground coal mine. It is amazing how the mine roof can be messed up in a small area, and that area's mine top be bolted up and yet appear to be safe to legally travel under as a coal miner. And then as you walk on through that small area, you then look back behind yourself and it looks worse than it did to walk through it. 11/7/17

@@jamiewyatt1862 In bad conditions one is already primed up to watch the roof as compared to good roof, but still any roof can get bad, one just has to watch themselves really well.

I have 32yrs in coal mining. During that time, I never had an underground safety meeting held by a MSHA INSPECTOR. And, I worked in the deepest vertical shaft mine on the North American Continent!
