  • Chain Case inspection after bearing failure on test run. Complete tear down. Pt2 to contain the rebuild. Better to happen when its warm than when its 10 degrees and out riding in deep snow in a field

      PS , we are repairing this machine a friend just bought in Northern New York and he lives in Houston TX and I am here helping him with my brother inlaw, I live in Florida but I know a little about the machine because I used to live in Northern Minnesota.

      They are actually pretty simple if you understand basic mechanics. I like the older sleds because they are easy to work on. I have been thinking about getting a newer one just for funsies. I have been looking around for another cheap sled to do repair videos on but the market is flooded with outrageously priced stuff right now. Hard to find the right one. everyone wants $5000 for a $50 sled or when you find one that seems to be priced cheap it is a scam. sucks living in a world full of dishonest people. I miss the good ole days.

    You said failed drive shaft bearing, im trying to fix mine but the bottom gear wont go in far enough. People on the forum are saying check the lock colar? I dont know what that is but how can that make my bottom gear go in farther? The chain isnt straight for me.

    • @thethriftysnowmobiler9801
      @thethriftysnowmobiler9801  Před rokem

      Sounds like the drive shaft isn't fully seated into one or both of the bearings or that the bearing isn't fully seated into either the case or on the belt side.

    change all the bearings looks are deceiving all junk after that failed

    • @thethriftysnowmobiler9801
      @thethriftysnowmobiler9801  Před 3 lety

      Yes, I changed them all. Could be life or death if on a secluded trail and have a failure. Especially if riding alone. The key thing I have always heard is never ride alone.

      @@thethriftysnowmobiler9801 That is good advise, I would not ride one brand new either alone.

      It is easier to change a bearing in the shop than to recover a sled from 6" of snow with a locked up track
