    Up until the last 5 minutes, it was a good story....Then it had to go all Kumbayah.... :(

    Even if we ignore the continuity issues there is the huge problem of a ship captain making decisions that are way above her pay grade. Ship captains do not command fleets and they sure as hell do not make decisions on treaties and technology transfers.
    It would be somewhat believable if they were far from home like in the case of say Star Trek Voyager but the story makes it clear they are close to Earth.
    Just NOT going to happen.
