    I bought the bike last year and I did around 5000km with it and I would only agree (partially) with your first negative comment - the seat. Seat is harder than some other bikes and I would also wish that as a touring bike Suzuki would put a bit softer seat on it. Windscreen - I remember when I first time test drove this bike I was amazed how good the windscreen is. I got no noise no buffeting no nothing. For my height 181 cm this is the best windscreen I've ever had. Breaks are good, I think they fit the touring bike, for the sports bike I would agree with you, they don't have enough bite, but for touring I think it's perfect, especially if you ride with a pillion ( less helmet smashing ). I think all reviews are personal, I think each review should introduce the reviewer a little bit before he/she starts telling his opinion about a bike. For example, if you rode all your life a BMW GS the Suzuki GT would be too sporty for you, but if you are coming from super-sport bikes then it would be super-soft-gentle cruiser. I have another major negative thing about the bike which Suzuki promotes but it only causes grey hair ... Suzuki MySpin connectivity, this is a joke! you will end up having your phone mounted on your handlebars. It would be great to see an update from Suzuki anytime soon .... Cheers!

    I appreciate hearing your perspective. I think the screen and seat can be highly subjective. The screen in particular is fiendishly hard to get right, one reason to at least make it adjustable. The height of the screen can mean buffeting at the top of the helmet for a shorter rider, or defeating wind noise at the base of the helmet. Very hard to get it right with a fixed screen.
    WRT brake feel, it’s a perennial struggle for Suzuki. It used to be brake fade, now it’s lack of bite, always due to cheap components. I wonder who test rides these bikes for the factory.
    As a GSX-R owner I’m very interested but I could tell the shortcomings from the moment it was announced. They are so obvious but unfortunately it’s a bike built to a price point. I’m hoping Suzuki makes this bike available in a more premium spec and address the issues.

    Interesting commentary. I am 6'4" and have enjoyed the Suzuki GSX s1000 GT for 16,000 + miles. I have not experienced the negative issue you have described with regards to the seat and windscreen. Both have functioned for me perfectly. I can appreciate someone not liking a motorcycle seat or windscreen. But these are very subjective components that should not be listed as a negative for the bike. They are a negative for the bike for you, the reviewer.
    The brakes have been described as woody in every review, including review on Suzuki sponsored press rides. The brakes are excellent and require improved brake pads to shine as intended. The stake pads are adequate in they stop the bike predictably. But they are greatly improved by shelling out additional dollars for improved pads.
    Issues I have experienced - the quick shifter; It is not as smooth and crips as many reviews have described. Lately it has become "clunky." The Key; The main lock and key feel cheap. At times I fear the key will snap in half. Always something I treat with extra care. Would be a great improvement with an improved key system. Finally, storage - There is ample storage with the hard cases. Without the cases, there isn't room for an extra slim wallet. In fact, I placed my state divers license under the seat. It was pressed and indented when I retrieved it later.
    Is it perfect. I agree that flaws can be found with everything. However, none of the issues I have experience would cause me to avoid the bike nor am I sorry for spending my money on the Suzuki GSX s1000 GT+.

      If he thinks the seat sucks, he can list it as a negative for the bike. Simple as that.

  • @ChucksterJax

    I agree with your assessment of the windscreen. The first time I rode this bike on the interstate I was surprised at how much I was being buffeted by the wind. For a bike with full fairing it should have much more wind protection.
    The seat seems OK for me, but I only weigh 150 lbs.
    The front brake seems weak when you first engage them, but the more you pull in on the lever, the stronger it brakes.

    I’ve seen dozens of video reviews of this bike as I am interested in one in the future. Almost every one points out the brakes and windshield issues. I don’t remember the seat comfort issue. I do believe the positives outweigh the negatives. There are a few other negatives like no center stand, no heated grips or seats, and no top box. There is more but I still believe the bike is good value.

    • @strudelNL
      @strudelNL Před rokem

      There's heated grips just not Standard... But if you want them just get a good brand aftermarket as they are better looking cheaper and probably also better than the Suzuki one which costs 3 or 4 times as much as a well known aftermarket brand

    Thank you for the honest review. I took into consideration the negatives you pointed out but found that, for me, they were non-issues. The bike is stupendous for mixed sport/touring duty. So far, I've been using it more as a sport bike than anything. Once I get a bit more comfortable with it I may take a longer ride with luggage. Again, thanks for sharing.

    Yes, and I appreciate that constructive criticism you have raised, and I think Suzuki will listen to such call outs. I'm still dreaming on that GT, and I hope they already fixed those issues when the time comes where I can afford to buy one.

    As a 'reviewer', you need to understand that people have different shaped bodies.
    I LOVE this seat. With the Iron Butt ultra distance rides that I complete, I can ride all day on this bike and only have a sore behind after a solid 8 hrs in the saddle. Ive come from an MT09 Tracer and for my body, the Yamahas seat was hard as a rock. I could only last 2.5 hrs maximum on that bike.

    Thx for honest review. Also i had same bike. (Black Suzuki GT 2022). Pls share solution of seat :) Will you replace it or add extra padding? Because i find seat uncomfortable too. My Ducati 950 Supersport much more comfortable than this seat :) For me, windscreen is more than enough. I must say, i am not pushing the limits of this bike, usually riding around 150-180 km/h. For those limits also brakes are ok for me :) Safe ride and let us hear you. Cya

    I own the 2022 GSX-S1000 non GT edition. Surprisingly, I am very happy with the riding comfort and seat. I believe the seat is the same on both bikes. One of the main reasons I didn't get the GT was the screen turbulance that a lot of youtube reviewers mentioned.

  • @markm148
    @markm148 Před rokem

    I’m 5’9 189 lbs. I find the screen to be excellent. The seat is tolerable and for me got better after brake in. I, not going to spend $900 and up on a Corbin. The brakes are fine. Every review on this bike complains about the brakes. I think people expect ultra grabby sport bike brake feel on everything now. I don’t. My only complaint was the grip’s outer diameter. I can’t tolerate 7/8th’s grip’s thinness. Replaced them immediately with ODI Vans grips that have a larger than stock outer diameter. Love the bike so far, and it is probably my favorite bike I’ve owned in forty plus years of riding.

  • @George-dl7gv
    @George-dl7gv Před rokem

    The issues you raise are very subjective and personal / individual. I can't agree that this can be considered a 'call out' or 'truth' as it is just your individual opinion. I own this bike and have absolutely no issue with the seat comfort and screen efficiency in comparison to the many other bikes I've previously owned. I do agree however with your assessment of the brakes. Whilst they stop the bike ok, they could be a bit sharper or more responsive.

  • @mikeglick3886
    @mikeglick3886 Před rokem +1

    The seat is an issue. I bought this bike because I want to ride a ton of miles. The seat on my Aprilia Tuono 660, is far better. I have ridden that bike 300 miles on a Sunday and my 57 year old ass was way more conferrable. The knee and arm position are fine but the seat sucks. If you find a good seat please post it. The Corbin seat is $650 in America. I have been riding naked bikes for decades, so the windscreen is actually a step up for me. My Aprilia Tuono V4 over 100 was like riding in a f-ed up wind tunnel and it would do 160. The breaks are for touring. So I don't fault them much. I ride the bike hard and it is no light weight. I think that with some steel break lines. and maybe a better master cylinder will sort that out. But perhaps we are asking too much out of a $13,000 touring bike? I do ride the crap out of this bike and it has been a challenge after riding a 405lbs Aprilia with just awesome breaking. But it is trade off, it is not nibble but it is planted. Not sketchy but solid. It eats fast turns with no issues. I use a lot on engine breaking and only use the front break for trail breaking so getting the long break pull not a problem (just getting used to it).
    All that being said it aint no real sport bike. It hauls ass, the suspension is fine, the transmission is great, and the engine is sooooooo good.

    Are you sure about the front brakes (4:11)? You state the brakes aren't radial-mounted, but the mounting bolts on the USA version look perpendicular to the wheel axle, as opposed to parallel on an axial-caliper, therefore they are radial-mounted. For the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT UK version, the Suzuki UK website states: "The GT+ boasts radial-mount Brembo monobloc calipers, each with four opposed 32mm pistons biting 310mm floating discs for strong stopping power. "
    I'm looking to buy a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ in the future, and think it's a great bike. I was talking to the mechanic in my local dealership about the brakes when I was getting my bike serviced, and he said changing the pads helps a lot. It comes with a 3-year warranty as well in the UK, and that K5 derived engine is a peach. I was looking at the Metallic Triton Blue, but the Glass Sparkle Black looks very nice. 👍

    The wind screen and the brakes comments are in every single professional review I have seen. In fact, I am bored of hearing about those two, same sentences (wooden feel, no feel, MCN said you lose half of the riding experience because of the brakes, pretty bold statement...), almost like it is a must say if you are reviewing this bike.
    I am unsure why you said nobody talks about those two issues, I don't think it's true.
    The seat, it is true that is the first time I hear about it.
    Good on you anyway, liked your video.

    I think the Seat is also very personal! I rode a lot of other bike's and find the Standard Seat very Nice, maybe not perfect but certainly not bad!
    The windscreen is bad? I don't think there's anything wrong with that... If only it were as good as the one on the Suzuki bandit.
    The problem with brakes is something every reviewer points out, also the positive ones.. Also not really anything i agree on but maybe cuzz i never owned a bike which had better front brakes....
    I do agree on the connectivity, that is a joke! It never Works... I just keep my phone connected to my helmet (cardo) hopefully Suzuki updates this...
    And the only problem i have with this bike which i never had on any other motorcycle... This bike gets insanely hot! In summer it burns my legs... And you get a lot of heat on you which i never had any problems with with any other bike's i've owned

    $17,000 hard earned American dollars? In 2022 this bike cost no where near $17,000 dollars in the states. I almost bough one for $15,500 out the door but the bike is not worth that much in my opinion. A Kawasaki Ninja SX for about a $1000 more and even Aprilia V4 1100 for about $3000 more. Too much competition for Suzuki.

    There are tons of press release video reviews and other rider reviews out there that are NOT fake. Believe me, I am insanely analytical and I must have watched all of them before pulling the trigger.
    As I appreciate the video, I do disagree with some of your negatives and will add my own.
    1. I just traded in my 2018 V-Strom 1000 for this bike and I can say, the GT seat is VERY comfortable... not as good as the V-Strom but very good.
    2. My GT came with BOTH screens and they are both great BUT the touring screen works really well at deflecting that air up. Again, not as good as my V-Strom but very good.
    3. The front brakes are soft in the beginning but they do bite and are strong when you squeeze harder. So, I AGREE with the front brake complaint is valid.
    My negatives of the bike is;
    1. No preload handle in the rear, have to use a spanner wrench... annoying but not the end of the world.
    2. No IMU... should be there at this price range.
    3. No "SET" speed on the cruise control... a little nit pick.
    4. Cruise control button a little far out of reach for right hand.
    5. Left turn signal button a little too close to the cruise control up & down buttons, making it annoying to click left when wearing gloves.
