    I finally took the horses down to the beach to do some liberty, trick training and riding!! It has always been a goal of mine to be able to let my horse go in a wide open space and them choose to stay with me! It was such an incredible morning!
    I doubted that they would feel safe enough to lay down but they didnt hesitate!! I had to put the rope around Callis neck when I asked her to lay down as she wanted to go up to the dry sand instead haha :P
    I am so happy and incredibly proud of them and the effort they put in for me!! I cant wait until next time! XD

    Your horse could take off at any second, run down the coast, and not turn back, but he stuck with you. You have such amazing bonds and trust with these horses. I really admire you Nadine!

      Yes it takes an equal amount of trust on both sides! I was a little worried about the possibility but Calli didn't blink! So happy!! :D

    Getting a horse to do things based on food reward is not horsemanship.

    • @ivylightnest8354
      @ivylightnest8354 Před 8 lety +2

      like you could do what she does without the effort, work and time she has put into these horses!

    • @sonseere10
      @sonseere10 Před 8 lety

      I could certainly do the training and get the desired results without food reward.

    • @ivylightnest8354
      @ivylightnest8354 Před 8 lety +2

      sonseere10 But a food reward is positive reinforcement and whats the harm done in it? Her horses aren't rooting in her clothes for a treat - they are showing respect. How do you praise your horses? This hard working woman may do what she wants with her horses and whilst you may call it whatever you like, you stand incorrect. Do you even give your horses carrots? You will notice most professionals in trick training give treats whenever their horse is good to encourage a 'keen learner' attitude. Do some proper research before stating false facts.

    • @sonseere10
      @sonseere10 Před 8 lety +1

      One praises horses by the release of pressure. There is a time and a place for giving healthy treats like apples and carrots. But never when you are training. You do not want a horse to do a task based on a food reward. You want the horse to do something you ask based on the horse's respect of your leadership. When there is mutual respect, most anything is possible. Pressure of varying degrees depending on the circumstances is used to do a task. Once the horse does as you ask, pressure is released. Horses learn on the release of pressure. This is how horses communicate in a herd setting. Watch a herd of horses interacting. Study their movements. The subtle and not so subtle communications.
