nick looks more foreign than half the people he's slagging off lol
lol.
stemple11100 It’s implied that he’s of Romany descent, on Dots side. Dot Cotton I think was a Romanian or other Eastern European Jewish descendant from the turn of the century. A lot of Russian & Eastern European Jews escaped the Tsarist secret police purges & came over & settled in the East-End.
Most racist "english" people do 😂
Looks like Iain Connell but less badass.
Lol and to merc it even more in sure he had a non white partner too-total opposite of him in character!
Blackmail was definitely Nick's forte. Once he had something on another character it never ended lol.
Eat concrete for breakfast 😂 Never be anyone else like Nick Cotton. Legend.
Antifa would of come for nick cotton if he was still around now.
Donkey Kong, playing in the background.
John Altman is a fine actor and a British Legend.
His character of 'nasty' nick was unforgettable. Poignant ,powerful, controversial (of course)....but NEVER dull. Fascinating to watch at all times ,and sometimes quite moving even. Legend!!! Such a hard act to replace. Eastenders will miss him .
All credit to the show's longest serving member-Dot Cotton (June Brown) also XXxxx
just to correct you, the show's longest serving member is Adam Woodyatt aka Ian Beale who was in first episode in1985 Dot came on 4th July 1985 while the show started on 19th Feb 1985.
Noted :)
Jim Bob To correct your correction of mine in that case, why have you not counted, Letitia Dean who was in the first episode as well, I put Adam Woodyatt as the longest because out the three, he been out of it once for a short period of time, whereas John Altman and Letita Dean have been out of it for years, hence why you get, Nasty Nick returns.
Jim Bob I said longest severing member and not original, there a differences. Just let it go.
Wow what a tough guy you are !
Big brave words there from a big tough man !
I'm shaking all over !
For some reason I love the way nick says "I "found" em! Like I once found you! Doing something outta order. Something I have up to now, Kept Strum about!"
Imagine if any character in the show said what Nick said here...
It was offensive at the time. Still offensive
Just different mentality back then I suppose
@@neptunestardust Definitely, but if this was aired today Eastenders would be history.
@@Blue4LifeSW6 nowadays, EastEnders would be history if they had an all white cast.
@@_productivity__nill_1131 I don’t think eastenders ever had an all white cast
@@lovelondon806 = The 'Carpenter' fam' (feels like Tony was in it much longer) + Ali (from Cafe) were 1st recall, but then again could've been born in UK.
Absolutely no way would this get repeated on television in today’s Society! Nick Cotton was brutal but at the same time, a very interesting Character.
Funny enough the actor who played nick cotton was on GB NEWS few mounts ago he was talking about his character in EE and he he himself even said the Writers and producers would never allow his character back to day.
@@Tad1945 He'd get nowhere anyway as the East End is largely ethnic minorities or yuppies in Docklands. I'd imagine Cotton would be bumped off quite quickly and his movement would probably be him and a couple of old skinheads thinking it was 1979 again.
Now that's proper script writing! It's nowhere near as good as it used to be!
Good acting as well which comes a lot easier from good writing
rhi Aw, somebody salty?
It is PC bullshit now.
Imagine this on tv now
When Eastenders was actually semi realistic and not patronising bullshit
He's coming back to EastEnders!
Nick is Italian in real life
Hey, thanks! Didn't catch that typo.
Shane they didn't keep nick like this. Nick was alot younger and was harder back then but not compared to Den or some older men. But if he was like this in 2000 after prison he would have been hard and a proper villain not a weakling scared of people. And year after year they made him softer such a waste he could have been nastier each time
He was weakest in 1990-93, he literally got threatened/beat up by half the men in the square and even needed a knife and a henchman to intimidate massive wimp Nigel
@@stemple11100 that was wimpy that for sure but in 2014 he seemed solid and not scared, he wouldn’t have ever shouted after Phil calling him scum before like he did in 2014-2015 he had guts
Tbh they probably wouldn’t be allowed to make him nastier each time.. they certainly wouldn’t be allowed to have this version of Nick today
God rest David Scarboro. Xxx
Brilliant!!! Shame they made Nick get weaker and weaker. He could fight well if he wanted
No its david scarboro
acctually its david scarsboro
Hello ma
What was it that nick caught mark doing? I was probably only about 2 or 3 when this aired
Hello Maw
It's interesting that they made Nick Cotton out as someone with history as a member of the BNP/NF. I think this kind of storyline would be brilliant now but I can imagine too many labour supporters would call in to complain and politicians desperate to make themselves look good, condemn it
+Samuel Coe Political correctness would kill a storyline like this.
Racism should have no tv exposure other than to condemn it. I'd advise any racist to beware of karma, look what happened to jade goody. A terrible fate even befalls a fictional racist, nick got checked of roof by mark fowler and killed by his own mum
I think its important to show it in a hard hitting manner like this. The offhand way nick displays his prejudiced beliefs is powerful because it exposes that there were political movements / activists who were organised and motivated because of their beliefs (which is obviously dangerous, but should not be ignored). Also, to him they are ordinary.
Showing that it's always condemned is like pretending it no longer exists.
Unfortunately today it's whitewashed (excuse the term. No pun intended I can't think of another word), to the point that it's almost become institutionalised.
This was edited for the Drama broadcast!?
It was, even when Ali said "Two n*gg*rs, two pakis, one stupid turk and one soldier boy wants to have a word with you". That was cut off too and is in the same episode.
Who's the guy nicks talking to?
Mark Fowler.
Derek Branning and Nick Cotton Have Those Views In Common But I Don't Think Derek Branning Would Of Liked Nick Cotton For Other Things Involving Certain Crimes
Why bother even saying that it contains language some people may find offensive? That is the whole point of Nick Cotton. He was an offensive and nasty character. At the end of the day EastEnders is fiction and if it offends people then maybe they need to grow up.
That's the og mark fowler btw documentary about him. He ended up killing himself Rip ❤❤
As a communist, I'm highly offended by this clip 😂
Was Nick a neo?
A general racist really but I think his talk about the movement was just BS to draw Mark in when really he just wanted someone to peddle stuff he stole for heroin money.
Mark's never been racist even back when he was getting in alot of trouble. Nick bullied mark in to it Mark didn't actually want to do it as hes not racist. As I remember rightly he wound Michelle up abit about Kelvin saying oooh Kelvin and that.
Mark was no racist. If anyone ever tries to claim he was to my face I will spit at them! You could tell by Mark’s expression how reluctant he was.
Mark Fowler kinda looks like Matt Damon. He could've made it big if he didn't commit suicide at a very young age.
Gee, Nick sure is nasty
0:16 - best bit, I like his thinking 👳🏾♂️
That's never a young mark fowler, Is he played by Todd in this video
No, that's David Scarboro.
The original. Tracked down my Michelle at a go kart track.
I find the character quite amusing he’s so hapless and pathetic and scheming is first class
