Rambo III, developed and published by Ocean Software in 1988
"He's back and this time he's taking no prisoners. Colonel Trautman has been captured by the Russians in Afghanistan and there is only one person capable of freeing him. Negotiate the minefields, explore the Russian camp, lay boobytraps, avoid detection, free the Colonel and then... move on to the explosive climax! RAMBO IS BACK!"
The game has been described as a poor mans metal gear. You wanda around a Russian maze stabbing every soldier you see collecting items to use in the appropriate places and eventually free the Colonel. It takes a while but once out you get to arm some bombs which is super easy as you can take loads of damage before taking the tank to shot down some helicopters, just like in the movie!
The Spectrum version isnt exactly challanging (until level 3 that is), but the C64 version is even easier. You dont take any damage walking over the dead bodies and as long as you stay with a silent weapon(Knive) you can breeze through the level not needed any ammo or health kits. This longplay just shows the needed items to get through the level avoiding any non needed items or weapons. Level 3 can still be chalanging but is slightly easier than the spectrum version as the screen isnt being constantly filled up with enemies. However the final fight against the Hind Helicopters seems to be missing here.

This game was sold here in South America as "Missing in Action" complete with cassette cover featuring Schwarzenneger and despite the giant "Rambo III" title screen. 80s pirates were snortin some amazing stuff.
Missing in action was a Chuck Norris movie 1984, that’s really funny if they put Arnold on it instead.
So there’s a copy of Rambo III starring Stallone, but titled Missing In Action which is a Chuck Norris movie…and features a picture of Schwarzenegger??? That has to be the most badass cartridge ever!!!
The Expendables - the videogame;)
@@TheSykoRC A future game.
@ make it happen 🏆🥉👍
Excellent game with an outstanding soundtrack. Fond memories playing it on my beloved C64.
Cool. Very cool Introduction title screen soundtrack for Rambo 3. Good stuff!
I find it fascinating that we used to pay 40 bucks in 1988 money for games with 20 minutes of content but somehow we also find today's games expensive.
To be fair they were also hard as nails most of the time so you somehow got your money's worth out of them before you were able to finish them in the end. : )
mk II for SNES was £40 but I still have it including the console though bought a cheap hdmi adapter for it.
Que juego más genial!😸 Me encantaría jugarlo!😁👍
Fun game, great music and great sprites with hires overlay.
I remember reaching level 3 when I was just a kid, something I can't do now that I'm 41.
Wow nice graphics!
Rambo " It's my fucking war " :-)
Wot a bunch of heroes
Hmmm...the main character and enemy sprites are one hi-res and one multicolour stacked on top. Unless mulitplexing is used, you can have only up to three enemies on screen.
Also, the bottom third is using Enhanced Colour Mode for the weapons display and inventory objects.
For sure this little old gem is WAY BETTER than the R3 movie... sorry Sylv... the poorest one in the series...
I had no idea what the fudge I was meant to be doing in this game, back in the day
bingo
Rockin soundtrack
"Whaddya say, John?
"Fuck 'em"
I was wondering that the game has realy cool SID Musics in.
I know it's an old system, but the enemy AI is a joke.
They react a little more when using a gun. Not so much when playing stealthy with a knife or arrows
If You expect AI from an old C64 shooter... then Your AI is a joke.
@@rotorportor3119 The illusion of AI, then. Other C64 games managed to do that.
What AI? The guards don't have any peripheral vision 😅
👍👍👌💯
Don't play blazing chrome
