2000-2002 Mercedes S500/S430 No Sound Fix - Fiber Optics Splicing

  • Should you suddenly lose your command system sound (radio, tape, cd, navigation, phone), you may have one of two issues: 1) either you have a bad 20amp amplifier fuse located in trunk, or 2) your Fiber Optics (orange cable) signal is disrupted between the Command System in the Center Console and the units in the trunk. This is a very easy fix that only should take less than an hour and $4 to fix.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  Před rokem

      Hello, think of it as a chain with links. If any link is broken, so is the chain. So, both could be bad or just one. You have to eliminate each separately. Bypass the first one in the chain and see if the second works. In your case, you could fast track and bypass both since neither is really needed.

But there is message on the screen -"TELE AID ACTIVE" and no sound. And if I touch any buttons like volume, it is going in mute. This thing is driving me crazy, I cant find the problem. It is 2001 Mercedes S430. Any help is greatly appreciated.

      @masood-tv  Před 6 lety

      Hi Victor - what was the original symptom? Did you have no sound whatsoever? Assuming you had no sound to begin with, did you check/replace the 20amp yellow fuse?
      If yes, then I hope you purchased a couple of the Fiber Optics connectors. Why don't you bypass the CD changer as well leaving the front radio console and the amplifier as the only two devices in the loop. See if that will work for you. Otherwise, I would suspect you have a bad amplifier not knowing much more about your particular situation. Report back please.

      Originally it was working, the sound was great then "TELE AID Active" sign started to appear on the screen, it was on and off, at the same time this sign appeared the sound disappeared until it became permanent condition- no sound. 20 amp fuse is good, I replaced it any way, no change. i do have fiber optics connections so i just bypassed cd changer completely. still no sound and same sign on the screen "TELE AID ACTIVE", I disconnected antenna amplifier, still no change and TEL AId Active sign is still on. Now there is only amplifier in the loop, I do have in the cassette player adapter with wire connected to my cell youtube music and still no sound. i pulled out fiber optics connection from the amplifier jack port and there is on time red light blink from amplifier.

      I am sorry to hear, Victor, that you are having these issues. I know it can be frustrating. I hope you have your fuse chart still. Have you checked fuses F61 and F66?
      Also, have you looked at the Roadside Assistance (wrench) and the Information (i) buttons inside the armrest? Are they lit? • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  Před 6 lety

      Hi Evgeny - if you are getting sound from your cd and cassette drives, it tells me that your fiber optics network is in a closed loop and working fine. If any one component within the network is bad, you would not have sound from any of the others. That narrows it down to your radio...I would have the radio checked first.
