Big Plans On The Horizon: A Deep-Dive Into The Fleet Of Air India

- With 113 aircraft currently listed as being part of the Air India fleet, the Indian flag carrier has been working hard to modernize its collection of jets and become a more efficient airline. In recent years, Air India has been continuing to take delivery of new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, as well as A320neos from Airbus. On the other side of fleet management, the Star Alliance member has decided to officially close the books on over 50 years of Boeing 747 operations. Most recently, the carrier announced a pair of massive orders with Airbus and Boeing - orders that will hopefully assist in securing the airline's dominance in the highly-competitive Indian air travel sector.

And Air India ordered max 8 and max 10

Yeah alliance air is no longer under air india, its still controlled by the govt
Air asia india is also being merged with aix
It's rival INDIGO also ordered 500 new jets recently. Make a video on that

I held my breath while he was saying it!

There is going to be major overhaul of livery design while keeping the Air India legacy. Tata’s array of companies are chipping in with their expertise. Taj hotels are working on crew grooming and Taj Sats catering. Jaguar-Land Rover design team are working on the new business class designs. Similar other companies like TCS is overseeing the website and app design and development.
I really hope what you said is true. I hope the new livery is in vistara colors as it looks premium and up-class.
now,
after they solve the problem with corruption, nepotism, incompetence, ineptitude, maybe, just maybe it will work.
TCS doing website and app.. now I’m worried 🤣🤣

I'm very happy for the people of India 🇮🇳 finally Air India is being restored to its original glory of an airline that they can be proud of. I can also see that Air India will sign a joint agreement with the following airlines within the next five to ten years from now: Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, and Emirates. Alliance Airlines is no longer affiliated with Air India.
: ) thanks
@sambhav kumar No problem as I'm routing for the revival of Jet Airways too 😁👏👌
SA has a large stake in air india lol
@@parker4406 so..... They have 25.1 percent stake in AI , tata will use their experience in full service carrier in AI , SA even had stake in vistara which was owned/controlled by TATA
@@parker4406 you're referring to Singapore Airlines? According to the report they will own Air India at 25.1% after the merger between Air India & Vistara.
Air India was also the leading airline in the 1950s ,even Singapore airlines took inspiration from Air India. But after the government took control of Air India in 1951, the airline started to fall down. Now, the Tata group has bought it and it is coming back.
I just can't wait to see Air India coming back and rule the aviation industry.
The downfall actually started in the 70s when Mr Tata left. Air India used to provide the actual maharaja experience in the 50s and 60s.
Hoping that Air India resurrects itself. Because even after the Vistara takeover, if Air India doesn’t perform, no hope for them now.
I personally like Vistara alot.
I hope Air India comes with a new theme, new look, new aesthetics and new livery
Its going back to the Maharajah, more visibly. When the Maharajah was their mascot, Air India was a classy airline. Technology has changed, but if it brings back the same class and pizaaz as in the 50s and 60s, its a good thing.
While it'll be fairly tough for them to capture the domestic market, I'm really excited about watching their plan for international routes unfold. For now we have to rely on foreign airlines for all our international trips and would love to have an Indian major player out there competing with giants like Emirates, Qatar, Singapore Airlines, etc.
Indigo and maybe akasa and jet 2.0 are gonna be a big player
@@crypton7572 Domestic market is going to be challenging but international market from other India based airlines isn't going to be much. Specially if you talk about destinations beyond the reach of A320s and 737s. Jet 2.0 is yet to lift off but Air India already has operational trans-atlantic routes. Even if Jet 2.0 comes back with those old A330s, they would take time to even be in a position to Air India supremacy. Provided Air India plays its cards right.
@@mayank0kht07 true, ironically for the jet 2.0 return, they seem to have/had an order for 50 a220 regional aircraft when it takes off, although I'm not sure about the status of this deal
@@mayank0kht07 my comment aged horribly, jet 2.0 is doomed

Alliance Air is no longer part of the Air India group.
Yes it's q different company now
Let's just say it is in this video
you forgot that alliance now operates 1 Hindustan 228(license-built do228 even after dornier's collapse) with one more to come. also i hope that the Aeroflot cabins become AI's default business class on the 350's and vistara's 787 product becoming AI's default on its existing and upcoming 787's. probably a new product(maybe even first class) will be introduced on the 777-9's and the other planes too
i guess a350 will be their new plane to have first class (if there will be one)

I am really exited about the future of Air India. Air India appears to be on the cusp of take off and can see major changes in the short run and become a premium airline in the near future.
Thanks bro for a specific video on Air India❤️🇮🇳
For Air India it's more of how they'll capture International routes, because in the domestic sector it's fairly impossible to complete with low cost carriers especially in a budget sensitive market. But International is what they should focus on and they should improve their on board experience which they have started slowly doing
He pronounced Thiruvananthapuram correctly....That was impressive.....Many people can't pronounce it in our own country.....
I hope they expand into Manchester with the a350s or 787

Air India should seriously focus on direct international markets first.. They can bring in the big bucks which can be very profitable and they will have the biggest selling point of direct point to point connection rather than taking a connecting flight..
New York, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, London, Manchester, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney and connect to multiple cities in India viz: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahemdabad..

Yup Air India History on a number of Planes in there fleet is Interesting to see on this Video right now Awesome Video!!!!

Very informative, crisp overview and presentation. Thank you
These are the wings making India fly into Future becoming true Superpower
Your pronunciation of Kozhikode was impeccable.
No it was not. Thiruvananthapuram was, kozhikode, nope.
You folks forgot to add that AirAsia India which operates a fleet of about 25 to 30 ,320 series aircraft is also 100% own subsidiary by India and will be merged with air India express. The narrow body order is a joint order for the group
Thank you, it's very informative video 👍
Challenging the domestic market here in India could be tough due to the presence of Indigo, but the International market is wide open for Air India to conquer.
I don't know if anyone has caught this, but Delta does not operate an all-Airbus widebody fleet as they still operate their Boeing 767 300ERs and 400ERs, while it is true they may operate an all-Airbus widebody fleet later on down the road, that is not yet the case.
wow he put effort in pronouncing the names i got goosebumps
So much expansion going on around but airports needs to be significantly upgraded if not delays will still happen.
Ur literally the first Foreigner or western guy who just spoke the name of Thivurananthapuram in a decent and fluent way ❤️ OMG ! Keep it up ! 👍
I think the a350-1000 is the plane that fits Air India. And also maybe the 777X if it doesn't get delayed as usual.
Thiruvananthapuram 🔥🔥
I love that they're simply evolving
Should've avoided mention of Alliance Air, since it wasn't part of the sale of Air India Ltd to the Tata Group. Alliance Air has been retained by the Indian government, for sale to another private investor(s). Since Alliance Air isn't part of Air India Ltd anymore, it has now fully decoupled from Air India and Air India Express - it now has a separate website and a separate reservation system.
Hey Simple Flying, Alliance Air was not part of the sale by government of India. It is still a state-owned airline. It is not a subsidiary of the Air India Limited.
Delta does not operate an all Airbus wide body fleet as you stated, they still have the 767-300ER and 767-400ER
Very interesting and exciting developments at India's favourite legacy airline - Air India. With Tata's back as owners, one can expect a quantum jump in service quality. Very excited. Though, I'm very curious about the airlines new livery - it's required and also when one is rebranding, image change is paramount. Waiting eagerly on how my favourite airline will look!!
will look fwd to fly on 777x and 350-1000 apart from 787 dreamliners

Air indias fleet is so coll and amazing. Can you do a deep dive of philippine airlines fleet 2023.?
I hope they add a hub in the south for international long hauls, instead of just Delhi now.
Where do you get these videos from which you show during explaining?
Gosh I am so excited for air India comeback with tata Sia and the merger of vistara will only help, but there still is need for raising competition in India, for long haul international flight but with growing economy such capital intensive industries are bound to grow
I want to see a New Delhi to Miami route.
Air india + Vistara +Air India express+Air Asia India.+ All pending orders+New order of 470 jets= Largest Airline in the world.
Not really
Delete this comment because it is the stupidest non researched comment ive seen here in a while
Currently the largest airline in the world by fleet is American Airlines with 934 Aircrafts.
Air India + Vistara + AI Express + Air Asia + new orders/backlogs will add up to around 700 aircrafts, which is far away from being the largest 🤓🤓
American airlines has around 900 but I believe it would be the 3rd or 4th largest
Largest airline where anyone can urinate on anyone mid-flight.
We'll see about all those aircrafts, we'll see...
You forgot to mention air asia india, which is now a part of air india.
nailed the pronunciation of Indian cities 👍🏻
Hey could you do a deep fly into Air Canada the member of Star alliance
I is the naming Hierarchy Airbus A-350, A-310, A--321 'and A321XLR. Can you explain this naming system by Airbus and Boeing.
Bro Air India aside , that Thiruvananthapuram pronounciation deserves a really nice round of applause
I have Faith in Ratan Tata . He will restore the Glory of Air India 🇮🇳
Delta very much does not have an all Airbus widebody fleet with 60+ 763/764 very much active.
But still b767 is smaller
@@goutamraoshab3777 sure but size wasn’t being discussed. Their statement wasn’t accurate.
Well done on getting Thiruvananthapuram right! Many Indians can’t get it right still ❤
Hopefully they change up the layouts in the present aircrafts of Air India, especially short haul. Felt my knees going through one of the seats in the A320neo due to the insanely terrible leg room while flying from Mumbai
That won't change on short haul.
Isn't that partly due to the fact that we Indians tend to be a teeny tiny bit smaller than caucasians ? :D
I hope the new livery represents Indian culture very well. Possibly with floral mandala designs or other floral designs found on temple walls.
I’m just hoping that air India extends their European destinations to Dublin and other places
Allianz air is not part of the sale which made for Air India to the tatas.
Will look into what product on Air India’s airbus order! Much more promising to deliver than their Boeing orders.
Boeing start delivery b737 max 8 mid of this year
Most of the a320neo order will start deliveries towards the end of the decade.
If the a380 and 747 were in production would air india have ordered a few of those?
Air india only looking for 2 engine plane
Not worth speculating about. That chapter for the industry closed awhile ago now. They were canceled for a reason. Carriers were not ordering them. That era moved on.
Just to highlight, Air India was started by the TATA's before being nationalized and it's actually returning back to its original ownership.
At 9:45 you got it wrong Delta does not have a all Airbus wide body they still got the 767
7:18 is it why they're reluctant to take Aeroflot a350s because if their bew planned product
Air Asia India is being merged to Air India Express , process has been started . They might be flown as AIX Connect.
According the order numbers you have given us is fairly good.Everyone are celebrating in India but will Air-India can revive itself and become a competent like other Airlines or still take its own time to get it going,
will take some years to build up the customer base depend on how they serve the customers . South Asians airlines are not very customers friendly.
@@azmolhossain9244 Air India was the most customer friendly airlines in the world since 1950s to early 1980s. I'm sure Air India will be fine.
I remember flying with Air India when it belonged to Tata !
Other than meant for "Air India Express" I don't see any valid reason to order 737Max and break fleet commonality In narrow body section. Any help in this sector?
Deliveries will be faster, and a better price for the aircraft can be negotiated.
DO LUFTHANSA PLEASEEEEEE
Kudos to the narrator for pronouncing Indian city names correctly.
Air India should reduce it's B737 MAX order to 136 & that too for the B737-MAX9 only . . . the reincarnated full service carrier should delegate their immediate B777-200 LR fleet to serving extra long haul routes . . . the B777-200 LR could do with a new refreshed cabin interior, because it sure does need one . . . in line with current crop of tech laden cabin interior solutions for wide body jets operated by full service carriers like Air India & Singapore Airlines . . . it'll operate on very long haul routes, like Delhi (DEL) - Sydney (SYD) non-stop & Mumbai (BOM) - Cape Town (CTW) non-stop . . .
Max 8 and 10 .
Calling it AIR INDIA without an Indian ceo?Sounds like Goggle!!!
This guy can prnounce indian cities better than me lol
I never travelled on any Indian Carriers on my visit to India other than Indigo Airlines . I just visited Kerala, Bangalore, and Goa and My only complain is about Airport Security. Highly Unprofessional and rude, even TSA is far better than Indian Airport Security. Also all Premium Lounges in India are packed and always congested and full. If Air India is trying to become a huge brand Globally improve the Airports and facilities. Even though I never travelled to Chennai, I had a layover there from London and the airport was chaotic and unwelcoming. Had to stay there for 4 hours for my next Flight to Tokyo.

a lot of these new air india orders will only start delivery later in the decade (some are arriving now since capacity was available - aeroflot A350s, some chinese a320s etc). You will probably see air india lease a lot of aircraft between now and 2027 to be able to capture demand until then.

You are forgetting air Asia india, which is getting merged with air india.
They merged with air india express not air india
@Goutam Raoshab both air lines are merging with air india by 2023 March 31st
@@giri2016 both of youll are sort of right. its unlikely that air asia planes will go to air india express given that the former flies a320s and the latter flies 737s. however, air india express will take over the space air asia india occupied as a domestic low cost carrier. air india express is largely an international low cost carrier.
air asia's planes will probably get incorporated into the larger air india fleet (hopefully with cabin refurbishments). the older a320-200s are 13 years old on average, and could probably do another 7-10 years with the carrier.
@Nihal Warawdekar right, all incoming aircraft will be rationalized whereby all Boeing aircraft are available for all international and national routes and airbus are available for domestic routes and vice versa.
@@giri2016 something like that. I think there will be two parallel domestic route networks. Air india will connect most of our tier 1 cities to one another and some tier 2 cities with their a320s. Air india express will connect Tier 2 cities to Tier1/2 cities with their 737max.
Air india express obviously wont have a business class product, and wont serve complimentary food and beverages on board. They will fly from cheaper airports to keep costs low and keep aircraft utilization high in line with other low cost carriers.
Air india express will also have certain international routes. for instance a lot of the indian laborers in the middle east are price sensitive. One can imagine how flights from south india to Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah etc are prime for AIX routes.
Alliance Air is no longer a subsidiary of Air India after the privatisation.
Why Air India leased 6 extra b777-300er variant they already have massive order
