    Actually the EU laws about "user friendliness" are extremely strict and clear. There MUST be a "accept all" and a "deny all" button equally visible and easy to access, as well as an advanced button that leads to a STRUCTURED and easy to understand selection bit where you can act on individual purposes and on individual "vendors".
    That's it.
    99% of sites are NOT compliant, including many public administration and government sites. But the rules do exist and are clear.
    All the "legitimate interest" stuff has been thrown in the mud several times by the European court, btw, so any site that displays something along those lines is most probably not compliant, too.

If you want reject then you will be redirected to a a Page where you have to enter your Full Name and get billings from them otherwise yoou have only 2 Choices. I've always wondered WTF is "legitimate interest" even supposed to mean - it sounds so blatantly *stupid* and is such an obvious grift to make you accept cookies when you think you're not, or more likely to make blocking them even more bothersome so you would give up and just click allow all.

    There’s a simple solution to this: the website negotiates with your browser whether you want cookies or not. That way you’d only have to reject once.

  • @MarkusMaal
    @MarkusMaal Před 2 lety +46

    How to get rid of intrusive cookie messages using inspect element:
    1. Open inspect element by right clicking on the black area.
    2. Delete the popup element.
    3. If you can scroll, you're done. If you can't scroll, remove "overflow:fixed" or "overflow:hidden", usually found on the tag inside the "style" value (or it could possibly be hidden in a tag). You can also try changing it to "overflow:scroll". Usually it's not in the CSS file, because to display the popup, usually Javascript code is run and it's easier to modify the tag directly than to mess with the CSS file directly.
    And yes, if you only visit the page once or clear cookies often, this can actually be faster than manually de-selecting all of the options (but if the website has a "Reject all" button, use that instead). Keep in mind that if you refresh or go to another page, the popup will be displayed again.

    Anthony needs his own LTT channel. This content presented by anyone else, and I wouldn't watch all the way through or just skip forward.
    Oh, and I like cookies. Watched this while eating Oreos.

    The worst thing is when I painstakingly go through all the settings, including the 'legitimate interest' clicking 'deny' on dozens of check-boxed only to get to the bottom and click the big ' ACCEPT ALL' button anyway instead of the 'Save & Close'. 😖

    Tbh, I am so annoyed with the rampant ads, popups, redirects, etc. that I decided to use an adblocker and just whitelist sites that I usually visit and for the sites that asks me to disable or put them on whitelist, specially sites that will not make you view their contents, I report them as malware sites.

    If you go to safari in settings on iOS there’s a block all cookies option for anyone who hates cookies too and it doesn’t affect websites as far as I’ve seen

    I also use the extension Cookie AutoDelete which automatically deletes all cookies a tab created after you close it. You can also add white and grey listing for all the websites where you want to be keep logged in. With that you can always accept all the cookies because there are gone after closing the tab and tracking does not work anymore. At least not using cookies, because there are other mechanisms that work without cookies...

    you can also use private mode if you're just surfing through countless website looking for some quick info on whatever might come to your mind. You can accept everything in incognito/private mode as no cookies are actually preserved in this state.
