    Thanks Zach, this is really helpful. Due to my age, I have chosen to go down the Jazz Improvization path, based on a solid understanding of Music theory. But I am beginning to think I should take reading sheet music more seriously, even if I still prefer playing spontaneously rather than repeating what someone else played 500 years ago.
    I love your channel. Keep it coming.

    The Treble clef is also known as the G clef-- you will notice that it curls around the G line. The Bass Clef is the F clef -- that dot in on the F. The reason for different clefs is so we don't have to deal with ledger lines all the time. The other clefs fit the instrument or vocal range. (Alto clef isn't used much, but it's great for that voice range, and eliminates ledger lines.)
    I sing Sacred Harp. The songs are all written to fit the staffs as much as possible. They can be sung anywhere the group as a whole agrees. (It's 4, or 6, part vocal harmony.)

    • @becomeapianosuperhuman6765
      @becomeapianosuperhuman6765  Před 3 lety

      that's true!! In piano music, the staffs are almost always in their "normal" spot, but they can be moved around

    Thanks Zach! This is super helpful. I was struggling and very slow at decoding but now you have provided a system that makes sense so I should be able to make progress. I notice that the ledger lines above both staffs follow the FACE order. The treble ledger lines below follow FACE order "backwards," so 3 out of 4, and the bass low notes on the ledger lines follow "All Cows..." backwards. This might help in learning those outer lines.

    • @becomeapianosuperhuman6765
      @becomeapianosuperhuman6765  Před 3 lety

      Good call, yea so the notes are in the same order, so FACE and EGBDF will lline up *somewhere* on each staff/ledger lines, if it helps you use it!
