  • It's not easy to drop north of 3 Benjamins on a new garage door motor. Especially if that garage door motor is still in good condition. So in this video I wanted to highlight a possible upgrade for homeowners that have a Chamberlain/LiftMaster garage door motor.
    This upgrade will particularly come in handy when a homeowners remotes and wall button to the garage door motor are lost, bad, or broken. In fact the 889LM Smart Control Panel is perfect even in situations where the remote transmitter no longer works from a substantial difference. It can also help in cases where there is phantom operation (garage motor opens the garage door by itself) or LED/Wireless interference.

    I'm here late to the party. Just purchased a pair of the Chamberlain B6753T openers and installed them last weekend. Thanks to your videos, I learned to also purchase the 881LMW wall controllers separately since they're not included in the packaging.
    The motion sensor works great as well as the time to close feature for peace of mind. It's also great that the Learn button is right on the wall controller to program remotes and connect to our WiFi network. The Hold and Lock features and Maintenance features are added bonuses to the 881LMW. Thanks for the videos! Definitely helped my research on upgrading the 20+ year old chain operated Craftsman garage door openers that came with the house when we bought it a few uears ago. New subscriber!

    Thanks for the great video that I learned something new. Will it work for 1280R? When we moved into this house, we only used the wall controller since the garage was used for storage. Last year, we want to parked the car inside and found that the red learning button did not work. So we stuck with the wall controller. I had have some issues for the last few months that when I pressed the wall panel, the motor jirked and door remained closed. After couple try and/or waiting few mintues and pressed again then it opened. what do you think my problem was - motor, wall panel or somethingelse? Thanks again.

    Dear Sir: Since 10 days ago, we have some serious RF interference in our neighborhood (we and many of our neighbors report their older openers no longer work). My 2007 Liftmaster opener remote must be held 1 foot away from the antenna to operate it. I called Chamberlain Tech Support. They recommended this unit (889LM) as it will use 3 different frequencies (the troublesome 390 mhz, 315 and 1 other..). It Looks like I need to buy another couple of remotes that are compatible with the 889LM. My question is:
    How do I program my car's Homelink buttons to the 889LM? (2019 Subaru and 2007 Toyota Sienna). Thanks!

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  Před 2 lety

      Hello. Very good question. The Subaru shouldn't have trouble programming to the new frequencies. You would have to clear the memory out of the HomeLink to the Subaru and then program the new remotes as you would the normal HomeLink program. Unfortunately, for the 2007 Sienna you'd need a repeater to program a compatible frequency. But this not a very efficient or cost effective option.

    When programming remotes, is it received at the button or the motor?
    I live in a townhome complex that was built recently. All residence have the same garage door opening. My garage door opens sometimes from my neighbor's remotes, and I've already tried to reset my motor and set it on a different rolling code. Would I have to replace the motor? I have a LiftMaster with a yellow learn button. Should I replace the motor with a different color learn button? Please help if you get my message.
    Also considering getting the motor setup with MyQ wall button or add-on so I can control the schedule (at least so the garage doesn't open at night time), but it wouldn't really solve the false alarms during the day-time.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  Před rokem

      Hello! Great question. You should not have to replace your motor. If the codes are cleared and your remotes are reprogrammed then you should be free from your neighbor opening your garage door. Yet, what you might be experiencing is phantom operation, which could be from a bad wire within the walls of your condo or a bad remote transmitter.
      Thus if you are at a crossroad and the problem continues then replacing to a MyQ motor will help control the unexpected operation. Hope this helps.

    Do you happen to know if it would work to replace a 3 button station (wall mount open/stop/close) with the 889lm, for a LiftMaster Medium Duty (gray cover) MJ5011U door opener/controller? I already have an 828lm working with a commercial series (Security+ 5) opener/controller, on a second door. I would like to control the MJ5011U through the 828lm, but I don't think it's possible to do so directly (to pair the 828lm with the MJ5011U controller).

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  Před 2 lety

      Hello. Great question. Now, I don't know with certainty if it will work but I believe the MJ5011U receive is calibrated for 315 MHz. That's basically the same MHz frequency on their standard purple button motors. Thus I would give it a try based on this specifications. Hope this helps!

    • @cloudbase7799
      @cloudbase7799 Před 2 lety +2

      @@sosgds Thank you! I received this response from LiftMaster support: "The 889lm will not work with the MJ5011U, the only openers that will will work with the MYQ that we sell on the commercial door side are our logic 5 openers." I'm looking into the Tailwind iQ3 as a possibility.
      I'm also wondering if there is a mid-stop option (official or not) for medium-duty LiftMaster controllers? I didn't find such an option in medium-duty LiftMaster documentation, but did see their support page for enabling/configuring mid-stop for Logic 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 commercial operators. It seems to me there might be an unofficial option for such a feature. For example, it seems like the iQ3 or something similar, paired with track/door-mounted sensors, could support this. Nearly all of the vehicles that pass through the door in question are cars and compact crossovers. It seems odd to me to fully open the door (12-15 ft?) for such vehicles. For now I use my single-button 371lm remote, press to open, then press again to stop as I approach when the door is open far enough, then press again to close after driving through.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  Před 2 lety

      Well I guess it's an official response from the manufacturer. I do find it kind of odd because the MyQ connectivity doesn't need to be used in order to utilize the button by itself. Nevertheless if they are disclaiming that it doesn't work then I would probably look at other solutions. In fact that they provide you any other option?

    • @cloudbase7799
      @cloudbase7799 Před 2 lety

      @@sosgds In addition to what I previously quoted, LiftMaster support had replied, "The Medium duty openers have a 20 remote capacity, if you are needing more, there is a way to do that, you could get an 850lm, it will add another 50 remotes if needed.
      There would need to be some other items needed to use the 850lm, the medium duty does not have SBC or 24vac available.
      You would need a separate transformer to power up the 850lm and a part# 71-MLSBC to get single button control."
      Otherwise, they suggested I reply if I require further assistance or have questions, and include my phone number if I prefer a call.
