I’ve tried several huel flavour shakes and made from powder and taste is okay but it is lumpy and tastes powdery like it’s just not mixing no matter how much you blend it. Will have to try the yfood
Hello everyone. If you get Huel sweetened vanilla, add blueberries and blend, let it chill in a fridge overnight, I think it tastes great. If no time or inclination to do the night before, just used frozen blueberries to bring the temp down and it's really nice.
Thanks for the comparison Eddy. I’ve been using YFood choc powder for over a year, made in a blender but mixed with almond milk for a lower cal healthier alternative to milk. I have one every single day for lunch so it’s important that it tastes good and YFood really does. I saw a link to Huel online, it looked a bit healthier so I went ahead and bought 24 bottles of their pre-made stuff to get an idea of what it should taste like before going ahead and buying the powders. I’ve yet to try one and am now dreading it but hopefully the ready made isn’t as bad. I’ll steer clear of their powders though and will just stick with YFood going forward. As tip for you I also add a couple scoops of unflavoured hydrolysed collagen and MCT oil for added benefits, doesn’t alter the taste but makes it even creamier as a drink. Thanks 👍
@@TheGreenDevil21 oh I have to force it down 😩 I actually look forward to my YFood each day so it’s quite a difference. I don’t suppose the ready made is quite as bad as the powders but if the ready made is anything to go by then I really don’t see what all the fuss is about with Huel. They emailed me asking for feedback and I scored it 1/10, they followed up asking the reason and I explained that something has to taste good for me to stick at it and unfortunately it doesn’t so I won’t be buying from them again. Needless to say my next YFood order is arriving in a few days, expensive lesson learnt.
I’ve always found it best to put a small amount of liquid into the powder to create a paste and then add the rest of the liquid. There aren’t any clumps 😂
I’ve heard if you put the liquid in the mixer first, then the powder, it doesn’t clump up so much. I’ve yet to put the theory to the test yet though. May be worth a try?
Thanks for the review. I found Huel 100% undrinkable. Was like drinking some kind of grit mix. It just doesn't blend smooth. Protein World's mixes are amazing to drink and completely smooth and are super palatable. Gonna give yFood powder a go and hope it's closer to Protein World.
Yfood gives you a blender on your first purchase which works perfectly well. I use Yfood powder on the go and used their shaker. I have never had any lumps in my smoothie. YFood Vanilla flavour is the real deal, its soo delish!!
I've tried Huel and it's okayish, just a bit boring (I get vanilla) and mix it with almond milk. But that was a couple of years ago. I've not been eating healthy lunches recently, so I thought I'd try the Huel again, but it has gone massively up in price and you have to buy two packs, but I don't want that much. I'm trying the yfood as you only need to buy one pouch. The Huel hot meals are vile.
Have you checked the meals yet? I just got mine yesterday, already in contact with their support. The worst taste/consistency I've ever experienced in my life. Let's hope their customer support is as awesome as everybody said. Yfood is not cheap, but you get what you expect: A tasty quick product that serves a need. Huel is ... not tasty
Huel reminds me of another drink called Soylent, kinda like pancake batter with flavoring. I usually buy the pre-made ones at Sainsbury's which taste a whole lot better. I've ordered the YFood taster pack and I must say that I've been converted.
I've had both and Huel is so powdery in it's taste. If you have sensitive stomach problems Yfood is much much kinder to you and no problems/bloating at all. Huel bottles seem to be okay but milk or water mixed with the powder and it's awful, but guess everyone is different.
Great to hear this! I've just ordered yfood as my intolerance test came back with me being intolerant to a few things that were in huel black chocolate such as cocoa bean and flax/linseed. I suffer from bloating so trying to get to the bottom of it.
@@m6_jedi953 glad your enjoying it. Random question, have you looked into sibo it's more common than people think...my bloating etc was a result of that.
Great review. I bought some Huel 4 or 5 year sago, had the same response, absolutely disgusting. Ended up throwing it out. I'm glad to see there might be better alternatives.
Yes Huel is undrinkable and Queal has the best taste and texture of all but it is high on sugar and the cheapest so it is the best for someone that wants to bulk and gain weight.
i got the test package from yfood powder together with a shaker. so i have 2x7 portions(7 flavors each to times). i have tested each one time and havent managed yet to get them smooth in the shaker. some like chocolate have realy bad taste. others taste realy good despite having clumbs. best so far was coconut. i will test the mixer in future. maybe it helps.
Odd 'review'. Preparing the drinks not to the instructions is a fail for a start. 1000's of users seem not to have a problem using a shaker. Nowhere on any product does it say use a blender for half an hour (sic) like you have laboured. But hey.... You seem focused on just experiencing a 'Nesquikesque' taste and that's it. No concern for any nutritional value and accepting a trade off against taste/texture in favour of goodness. My advice to you? Stick to Nesquik and leave the review videos to people who can actually contribute information other than 'it tastes like shit'.
@@interestingthings999 you're review was spot on. People know the nutritional value but I think most of them turned up wanting to know if it is drinkable which is the ultimate value when buying it. I tried huel and I still get flashbacks on the grimness. I will give yfood a try, I was just worried it's powder was also disgusting
Enjoyed your test, and kind of in agreeance. I tried both and yes the Yfoods is much tastier. For me the Huel was mediocre at best, however has an awful after taste. The extra thickness of it - I thought would be a good thing..but its not. Huel 👎 Yfoods 👍+
I'm a yfood su subscriber and it's 100 times taste better than Huel with minor nutritional differences. If you are pedantic about sugar and minor difference in protein intake get Huel.
I bought a huel from coop today - jesus what the hell is that aftertaste, i could manage to have (read force) most of it but threw the rest away. Does Yfood also have that after taste?
Not at all, Yfood is like a nice milkshake, you could easily drink 2 cups of it. Got myself a bottle of that Huel-stuff, maybe that one is drinkable. The quick meals ... this is beyond disgusting. Hours later I still have that aftertaste in my mouth 🤮
I agree that the Huel tastes just awful (unless you do it with milk) and Yfood is miles better. However the macro distribution is better (less fat) and the source of carbs is also better in Huel.
Then check out the Yfood vegan ones. Taste is nearly the original, but macro distribution is similar to Huel. I've accidently bought the vegan ones and didn't notice the difference.
I've tried Huel and Yfood (ready made) and Yfood is so much nicer. Every Huel tastes the same and has that same after taste. Also another plus for Yfood is that it's not Vegan.
Go definitely liquid first to prevent it sticking to your cup. It also says it on the yfood packaging 🤣.

Same. Also if your training hard YFood us much better. I blend it up with a lot spinach and its still better tasting than Huel

Been having Huel for a month now, never had any lumps as I put the water in first!
You know it’s biased when they use “genuine review”

ive just started using yfood i love the crazy coconut flavour
You don't need a blender!! Yfood ship a free shaker when you subscribe and it does the job fine

You’re supposed to add water before the powder.
It helps to put the liquid first then followed by powder, to stop the powder from sticking to the blender cup.
i think instead of water yfood uses milk on the premade ones maybe that's why?
Great review. I bought some Huel 4 or 5 year sago, had the same response, absolutely disgusting. Ended up throwing it out. I'm glad to see there might be better alternatives.

Yfood is based on whey protein and contains much more sugar. It tastes better but it is not nearly as healthy as Huel.
But Huel is impossible to drink.
Yfood have a vegan version too.
Pro tip. Put the watter 8n first. Less lumps or bits stuck.
Why would you talk while the blender is on?
