Great video, if possible please make another video with an update on how things are going now that everything is connected and up and running for a few months. Do you know if this router gives you the option to use one of the LAN ports as a dedicated wired backhaul when in a mesh setup?
14:28 saving for later! Thank u for the video
nice detail thank you
Thanks for the video!. Does this router have dual WAN load balencing/failover?
Thank you for the device menu walk through.
You've had it a couple weeks, any Pros and Cons?
I did notice it was limited on creating multiple SSIDs as desired.
I've noticed that some wireless clients don't do well on combined frequencies under a single SSID which is why they include a pre-built IoT option.
Let me know what you think and thanks for this review.
So far no complaints. I'm currently working on my IOT wireless network as well as getting the two NAS's configured so I can take advantage of the 2.5gb network.
I was interested in using this in bridge mode just as an AP. But it’s really disappointing to not see VLAN ID options when configuring wireless networks. So very sad considering the many TP-Link predecessor devices that do.
Any chance this comes with plugs for other countries, or at least would it only require a simple adapter (does have auto voltage switching - my guess is yes but a confirm would be great). Thanks for the video!
I got this from a vendor in the US. It didn't have additional plugs. However, I would hope if you purchased it in your country, it would include the needed plugs. The adapter that comes with it is 110-240v. Hopefully that helps.
What year is this product?
Love the beard!!
Thanks for the support 🤜🤛
Hello Jason. Do you like this router? Can you tell me the transfer speed in MB/s to a USB SSD over 5Ghz?
I don't know who Jason is, but I'm liking the router so far. Unfortunately, I don't have a USB SSD or USB HD to plug into the router to test it as a network storage appliance. Thanks for the comment and take care. 😀
I assume you were capped at about 110mb/s on the file copy for the nas when copying the movies files and stuff over to the nas? How big of an increase did you see in the speed when you switched to 2.5gbe ports? I was wondering cause Ijust got a nas and ordered this Router as well for the same reasoning. :) Let me know!
I found a bad cable in my house wiring so the LAN connection to the room that houses the NAS was only a 100mbps connection vs a gig connection. I'm still working on getting that resolved before I can do some speed tests. I also added a 2.5g external network card to the NAS to see what type of speeds I'll end up getting.
Please update whenever you do the test.
My computer has 2.5gb Lan port, I can install 10gbps Lan card on my Nas, I'm gonna be using SSDs in my Nas.
I need to know what's the maximum possible speed we can get through these 2.5gb ports.
Thanks
good video thanks for it
Hi, thanks for the detailed review!
I have two questions about this device, if you could please answer them:
1. Does the Multi-Link Operation (MLO) network combine all the three frequencies (2.4. 5, and 6Ghz) or just 5 and 6Ghz?
1. I have a three story house and I am wondering if I can use two of these devices with the second one on wired backhaul and have a consistent WiFi 7 network with a consistent MLO network just like the Deco products?
I am really considering two of these routers instead of going for the BE 63 Deco.
Hi there. Thanks for the comment.
From what I see in the settings, MLO on this device combines 5G and 6G. However, the device already combines 2.4 and 5 together as a single network so in theory, it would be all 3 frequencies.
As for a backhaul, there is a setting in the system admin to set the devices operation mode to an access point. However, I don't know if that will function as true MLO like you are asking.
Hope that helps. Thanks for the support!
@@HAVOK thanks brother. It looks like the Decos will be more appropriate for my needs.
Hello. Please tell me, does it have active cooling? Is the fan noise audible during operation?
I haven't noticed any noise. It's been a great device so far.
Instructions stipulate it must stand upright only. The tower design is for a reason, convective cooling. You can't lay it on it's side.
Works just fine on it's side for me 🙂
The 3rd button is for WiFi Protected Setup, it's been the same symbol for almost 2 decades (dates to 2006).
Hi
Please explain why router’s mentioned ax3000 GBPS or BE9300 currently I’m using home connection is 504MBPS how it’s downloaded 3000 GBPS
It's a 2.5gbps router. You need to have 2.5gig network cards in your systems to take advantage of the added speeds. It also depends on your computer hardware. Mechanical drives will be slower, etc.
Hey bro, love the beard. I'm thinking about getting this same router. Can I connect my eero 6e pro mesh systems to this?
Appreciate the compliment about the beard and for supporting the video. I don't see why you couldn't add your mesh system to it. If it came down to it, you could always turn off the built in Wi-Fi and strictly use Wi-Fi from your mesh system. I know it may defeat the purpose of the Wi-Fi 7 but I imagine your mesh system is probably Wi-Fi 6 or 6E. Give it a shot and let me know how it turns out.
@@HAVOKafter updating and making upgrades to my network switch and network card in my pc, this completed the upgrade I'm now getting 2000mbs up and down with my pc and on top of that, its perfectly compatible with my existing eero 6e mesh system at no detriment to the connection bandwidth. Beautiful piece of engineering and am not disappointed especially because I got it on sale lmao
so.. do not have to pay for the subscription. can use it without subscribing? in order to use eero wi-fi 7 mesh router must subscribe
I use it and no subscription. I don't have a wifi 7 mesh system but all of the TP-Link Deco mesh systems I've used never required a subscription.
Tanks for this video but i have a question : this router can connect to wifi 6e devices like s22 ultra with 6ghz frequency band ?
I have an S21 Ultra and it works perfect
@@HAVOK you mean it works and can connect to this router with 6ghz band on wifi 6e standard or connect with 5ghz and wifi 6 standard
@@alisarani8971 I'm connected to it via 6E. Says at the top of the phone. 😀
@@HAVOK Thank you so much for the video and useful information you provided. I just ordered this router model, but in some of the CZcams videos, mostly from Chinese CZcamsrs, I saw that they couldn't connect to the 6 GHz channel with devices that had Wi-Fi 6E. That's why I had this question and wanted to make sure if this router supports Wi-Fi 6E or not. My own phone is Galaxy S22 Ultra, which supports Wi-Fi 6E.
Do u have to have a modem or can this connect by itself and if it can does it have unlimited gigs?
how much memory does the router have? i cant find anywhere that info
1GB
Where r you that you’re getting 2.5 gb service in home ?
I'm using the 2.5 for my LAN. My guess is they do the 2.5 on the WAN to possibly future proof it a bit.
I'll pass on it for now, but one thing I have learned about Wi-Fi routers is if you don't spend more than $400 they're not worth a damn.
Does it support AP mode?
Yes. Under System in the Advanced mode, you will see Operation Mode. You can change it to Access Point Mode in there.
Love the beard... What color is that? Lavender or something?
Ahhhghhh...I wanted to know what speeds it does (that is a main consideration surely ?) and all you did was walk through the manual !!
Sorry you didn't like the video. Hope you have a nice day.
why does it show 6ghz instead of 7ghz?
It is a Wi-Fi 7 router. Wi-Fi 7 is the name they gave this version of the technology. 6GHz is the frequency band. You have 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz. This router is a Wi-Fi 7 Tri-Band router which means it can utilize all 3 frequency bands (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz). Excellent question. Thank you for asking and I hope I answered it for you. 😀
Wifi 6e and 7 is 6ghz
@@HAVOK thanks for the info, I'm new to wifi7 and didn't totally understand how they arrived at that name since it is running at 6ghz
@@mfmayes you're welcome. Thanks for the support
So far my Chinese Wi-Fi 7 router is better. 6ghz is slow
6ghz isn't the speed. Lol
@@HAVOK I believe he is saying that the 6GHz network on this TP-Link router is slow(er than his "Chinese" router).
So why do you watch the vidéo tell me come on 😂😂
why you miss vpn server to see how it is?
I skipped the VPN server as I didn't plan to use it. If its something you would like to see, let me know and I can look into making a video on it.
