It’s a happy song but with a sad undertone. On the one hand it says that Europe is without borders but on the other hand it’s the story of Joost Klein. Who lost his father at 12 years old to cancer and a year later his mother to a heart attack. He lived in with his older syblings. His father always told him that borders (or restrictions) are man made. He and his dad always watched the eurovision song contest together. And now Joost is participating. The burning scene is a symbol that the past is laid to rest by Joost. So you see it is much more than just a merry tune…

It starts with black birds, predicting disaster an ends with singing birds, a new beginning. Joost is showing his biografie, his loss, his terrible feeling, a devil and an angel on scooters behind him, he wants to flee but nothing can comfort him. Travelling, paella, even partying cannot help him with his feelings.
At the end he burns it all and birds start singing to symbolize a new beginning.
