  • Sometimes I wish I could go back, even for just a moment. Feels like as we get older time moves by even faster.. Everything was so much simpler then.

    The mourning dove sound is actually crazy. That's the first bird I ever remember being able to identify. I loved to replicate its call.

      I'm glad you caught that and appreciated the touch! It was a bit of an experimental thing with trying to switch up the upload types by adding other sounds in as well and it seems to be pretty 50/50 with people so far. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and leave a comment though. It's truly means so much to me! I hope to see you around in future uploads as well! :)

    A lonely school evening. Exhausted, and not in the mood for anything, you drop your bag to the floor and look up towards the ceiling. Everything should be fine, so why does it feel so heavy on your chest? It's golden in your room, the time of day you like for reminiscing. You've never been one to do things on time now that you're older, not anymore.
    The orange and yellows shine through, your grey curtains serving as the good color between, whether it be a rainy afternoon, or a time like now. You do naught but stare. Not that it's an issue right? A sigh leaves you. The time of day for reminiscing. Oh well... Better get to it.
    This is the music that plays in your mind, for memories that never were, days that never did quite count, people you've never met. You are drained, and tired. So very tired. It's hard to believe you still have that sliver of hope to hold on a little longer, thinking one day, you'll see those days and people you imagine so fondly, as much as it isn't really looking back, but on what could've been-- and what could be. If only they were your childhood, you think. Wonder how I'd turn out then.
    Your eyes are filled with simultaneous wonder and longing. The child in you is still yearning to create and imagine the things and people that could have been there for them, forever stuck in waiting. And now? Well now you're not quite sure. If you're both looking to the past and the future, have you really changed? Perhaps you're just a little more beat down. Maybe you haven't changed at all.
    And yet still you wait. It's comforting at times, but that squeeze in your chest never really does go away, does it. And so you wait. Maybe, just a little longer. You think.

      This is such a beautifully written passage. It really tells a story and captures the exact emotion I was trying to convey with this piece! The feeling of realizing that you're getting older and day by day leaving the part of you that once was behind ever more so slightly. I loved reading this comment and truly appreciate you writing this and listening!

    You remember back to the days when you used to go to sleep staring out of the window of your room, watching the snow drift down under the warm glow of the lamps lining the street you lived on all those years ago. You remember how it used to feel to close your eyes and hope with all your heart that it would be a snow day, and that you'd get to sleep in for just a while longer before waking up with a mischievous sense of joy after your parents tell you that you won't be going to school.
    You remember how free the little things in life used to make you feel, and how deeply they affected you despite being so seemingly small. Everything was so much larger when you were that young; money, relationships, snow days, dinners, what you got to have for lunch... growing up had never felt so exciting as it did back then.
    And now here you are, grown into the future you may or may not have envisioned yourself having as you reminisce to "the good ole days", and you regret not enjoying all those little things so much anymore. Money became a necessity, relationships became complicated, snow days became hard work, dinners became optional, what you had for lunch stopped mattering... and growing up begins to feel like wasted time. When did it ever start feeling that way? When did the good ole days finally end? Why did life lose the wonder it used to have?
    You ponder these things, staring at the back of your own eyelids as you try to drift off to sleep, dreadfully aware of just how little sleep you will have by the time you get up for work in the morning. You are keenly aware of the daily aches and pains of a well-lived in body, for it is no longer so spry and healthy as it once was, and you take a deep breath in an attempt to temporarily forget how you can't remember the last time you weren't in pain, be it mild or otherwise.
    As if on a whim, you open your eyes and through the blurriness of sleep you glance towards the window with the shades partially drawn. Though it takes a moment to focus, your eyes settle on that familiar, comforting glow across the street; heavy flakes of snow drift down lazily through the warm shaft of light before fading away into the darkness of night, reminding you of those nights you used to spend hoping. You smile, feeling silly for thinking it, but you close your eyes again and clear your mind...
    And as if nothing had ever changed at all, you fell asleep hoping for a snow day.

      You aren't alone in that thought friend. I took often sit and get lost in thought remembering the older days when everything felt so much simpler and safe. Certain family members and pets were still alive. Certain friends were still present and healthy. Growing older is one of the most beautiful and rewarding but also scary and difficult things ever. I'm really touched that you could connect so well with my music and remember some positive, fond memories. I wish you lots of happiness and good health in your life friend. These sounds are the like that take you back, to be sure. They make you cry, if you're the thinking type... Maybe it isn't sad entirely, but it is there.
    What makes it so beautiful, and what makes life beautiful, is that with the sadness, there are those fond memories and good feelings once had; these feelings are like kindling to that yearning to have it again. We are continuously in this cycle, but it is why we choose to live instead of give up. To exist is painful but also amazing.
    But as much as there can be fond memories, I'm sure many of you know that one person who has suffered a lot. Nobody chooses to be unhappy all of a sudden. Try to smile or listen to someone who needs it. Just because they say they are fine does not mean they are.
    I have no idea where this came from, and maybe I just looked into it way too much for a CZcams comment section to care about. But still, have a good day. :) And thank you, creator, for being you.

    • @_northy
      @_northy  Před 9 dny +4

      It's actually a mourning dove cooing which is something a lot of people remember after playing outside when you get. It was more so meant as just an extra nostalgic inducing sound effect and less required to actually be in tune with the song. But this video was also a bit more experimental with seeing how people would feel about additional sounds mixed in the the pieces. Thanks for listening and sharing your perspective! :)

    • @glockxxinia9715
      @glockxxinia9715 Před 9 dny

      @@_northy I'm not saying that the owl sound itself does not fit here, just change its tonality so that it matches the melody and the nostalgic sound remains, and the sound of the melody as a whole will be without resonances
