How well does it mix chopped up hay and grain?
It really depends on the specific mix. The mix needs enough weight to bring it all down to the auger for good mixing. We would recommend a demo through your local dealer / distributor so you can see how it performs with your mix. @@DanuserCompany so we demoed one a couple of months ago and mixed chafhay and ground corn together. It mixed pretty well, but at the time we used only 1 50 lb bag of chafhay and a bucket of corn. We decided to buy one for our lambing barn. After getting our Mega Mixer this week, we decided it definitely could use some improvements. It doesn’t mix several bags and several buckets as well as it mixed one of each. If it had an upper auger that was flighted in the opposite direction of the one on the bottom that would fix the mixing issue. The other issue is that you can’t put it on the ground when the chute is connected (found that out the hard way). Also, whoever does the QC at the factory prior to releasing should do a better job of QCing. Our was missing both hitch pins and the key pins the hold the skid steer hitch to the mixer.
