With many odd looking cross-overs and SUVs nowadays, it is very refreshing to see a beautiful design with no crazy creases, edges and blind spots. Nice.
Yes, great review as always. I am very impressed with the GLC as well. Pleasing, well-proportioned design, both inside and out. I especially like that you can spec it out luxuriously as yours was, or go more utilitarian and get the MB-tex and fewer options for a more practical take.
i had a '15 C300 4-matic as a loaner a few months ago, 7 speed auto, perfect car to go cross country. although i've had a smart for the last eight years.
I got abos on nearly every auto channel in germany and the US, but your videos are always a pleasure. You definitly make the best ones. My uncle and my grandpa already bought this mercedes - the whole family drives mercedes and bmw, thats normal in austria and germany haha ... Except my with a jeep cherokee - also there was your video the best one and very important for me in getting a decision. Thank you for your excellent work and greetings from vienna (austria)!
+Driven Car Reviews not very much. The jeep sales increased about 50 percent last year, but the top sellers are the grand cherokee (starts about 60 000 euros) and the renegade. But there are also more cherokees every month - i can see now between two and three ones in a week. They start with 40 000 euros for the 2wd without any extras. The same amount of money as mercedes, bmw x3 and audi q5. And in austria most people tend to buy german cars, when the price is the same. I love this car, but if we had american prizes, i probably would also have a grand cherokee :P
A Mercedes version of an Acura MDX, perhaps? At 3:10, the rear leg room will be a HUGE selling point for growing families. Great review! When were ready to downsize from a GL450, this GLC will be near the top of our list. The AMG version coming soon? We will see.
+Driven Car Reviews Thank you! That was my wedding day overlooking Manhattan.. It's very inspiring to me to see you so happy doing what you obviously enjoy... I am a guilty "Car Fanatic" and love it. Looking forward to all your videos! Thanks again!
I was just wondering when the next episode was coming and BOOM, there you are :) While I do understand that start/stop is good on gas but I'm sure that the starter must not last as long... It would be nice to see how much gas you save before the starter fails vs the price of replacing the starter.
Hello from New Zealand. I really enjoy your reviews especially the American cars we don't get here, we are right drive. That is a great advertisement for the camera, a GoPro?
+Patrick Deehan A good ad for the durability of GoPro, a bad one for the aftermarket mount. Would love to see NZ sometime, had a friend spend three weeks there and she just gushed about the place.
Not a Mercedes lover. But you have to admit this looks very well made and at least on paper it does everything you'd want in this class. If you lay off the options it's also pretty affordable (relative to the class). At least you can get in one that drives right for not too much.
Tom I drove the GLK the other day and love the ride feel, went to the site and realize they discontinued it, do they still have the van ? or they move to a whole redesign
Nice review, Tom. Somehow the GLC looks the best in your video review compared to other reviewers. For some reason I liked the chunky look of the GLK. It stood out, that's for sure. So - you a boarder or skier? Twin planks pour moi.
+Mario Dalla Riva Sadly no, came back with my own, shall I say, distinctive voice. All of us Voelks sound this way. One of my co-workers is from Tasmania though, so I could practice.
Tom, why not mention the Discovery Sport as something to cross shop? Disco gets knocked for not having a nice interior, but seems that if you do a fair amount of hauling kids around and have a desire for real off-road capability, 7-seat disco sport is a good choice vs. this or BMW X3, RDX, Q5, etc. Your thoughts?
+kevin bolash Hi Kevin, yes, the Discovery Sport would be one to consider. I try to keep these reviews to a certain time and usually don't go down the entire list of competitors. And yes, it does do well off road, I've done it and it's a lot of fun. That third row is not all that usable though, maybe by small children, but adults wouldn't like it.
+Siah Yes, available as an option. Not to be a trial lawyer about it but I did say "this one doesn't have it". Could have been more clear I suppose. Thanks for pointing that out.
Since you are expert in cargo capacity: How could the cargo space of GLC (20.5/56.5) be so much smaller than cargo space of say Escape (34.3/67.8) considering the fact that the size of GLC (183″ L x 74″ W x 65″ H) is considerably larger than Escape (178″ L x 72″ W x 66″ H) in every direction? This is almost always the case for every comparison between a Luxury SUV and a mass market one of the same class. I could have explained it if it was only about cargo size before folding the rear seats, but even after folding rear seats the GLC is having much less space! Is it because of longer hoods in German SUVs?
The same reason why a Honda CR-V has an astonishingly large cargo area- good packaging and engineering. I can wedge 12 packs of TP into a CR-V to the GLCs 7. Not that the GLC (or Escape) are not well engineered. It's just that the Honda folks made cargo a priority.
There is no question that "Honda folks made cargo a priority", the question is how did they achieved it (in smaller dimensions)? Is MB providing some more content that eats up the space, or they are just lazy on packaging?!
Lazy is not the word I would use. I believe that Honda locates the fuel tank under the rear passenger seat which carves out more trunk space and protects the tank in a rear crash. Obviously Mercedes has different priorities. I'll note that the structure feels more solid when it comes to the MB, and structural bracing could play a part. But basically, I'd have to go through the cars with an engineer to figure out what they did and why they did it.
Would this be a good car for a 17/18 year old? Or is this too fancy :/. I'm almost 18, and my parents want to get this car, but I feel like it's too luxurious...I currently drive a decent car that I bought myself but as a college gift they want to get me this but not the 2015/16 one probably the 2014 and below..
you are honestly the best car reviewer i have watched iv been trying to find a car reviewer like u
With many odd looking cross-overs and SUVs nowadays, it is very refreshing to see a beautiful design with no crazy creases, edges and blind spots. Nice.
This car is much better looking in person too, very gorgeous!
Love this channel! Seriously, you've made an example of how to review cars! Absolutely professional videos!
+Saeed Kazemi Thanks Saeed, you have excellent taste!

Great Review Tom. I really like this crossover. I hope that the reliability is good. This will be a nice off lease deal is couple years.

+martinstmr Well, greetings back from Seattle (USA). Thanks for the kudos, glad you're enjoying them. Are there many Cherokees in Austria?
+Driven Car Reviews not very much. The jeep sales increased about 50 percent last year, but the top sellers are the grand cherokee (starts about 60 000 euros) and the renegade. Very beautiful car. Wish I could afford it now.

Awesome channel.. I'm a huge fan of your videos. :)
+Lee McMullan Thanks Lee! And I am a fan of your tux.

+Lee McMullan Yeah, I'm a lucky guy. But hey, if you're married, go pay attention to your bride, it's Valentine's Day!
+Driven Car Reviews haha! Right?! Your sense of humor is awesome.. just like in the videos! Witty and practical!
Damn that looks good
Your the truth Tom. The high priest of car reviews.
+Milky Gingerbread Thanks Milky, wish my wife knew how smart I am...
Awesome car:)

+Casual Driver Vlogs and Reviews It's my understanding that the starter is beefed up quite a bit whenever one of those systems is installed.

Good luxury car
What did you use for editing videos? Because they look good! Appreciate the video!
+GoldNugget14 Sorry for the tardy reply. I edit with Final Cut X.
Tom I drove the GLK the other day and love the ride feel, went to the site and realize they discontinued it, do they still have the van ? or they move to a whole redesign
+Khalil Cora It's now a GLC- Great little car...
Fancy neighborhood. Car fits right in!
Do you do your own camera work?
Lmao at your mocking skeptics at 4:27
Nice review, Tom.
Somehow the GLC looks the best in your video review compared to other reviewers.
For some reason I liked the chunky look of the GLK. It stood out, that's for sure.
So - you a boarder or skier?
Twin planks pour moi.
+Mario Dalla Riva Skier. Just got back from Whistler. Awesome.
+Driven Car Reviews Fantastic!
Did you return home speaking with an Aussie accent?
+Mario Dalla Riva Sadly no, came back with my own, shall I say, distinctive voice. All of us Voelks sound this way.
One of my co-workers is from Tasmania though, so I could practice.
+Driven Car Reviews S'truth, mate! You musta been pleased with the USD-CAD exchange rate. Eh?!

+Driven Car Reviews Thank you for the reply!
The car DOES have the foot-triggering trunk open mechanism available! That was wrongly depicted in the video.
+Siah Yes, available as an option. Not to be a trial lawyer about it but I did say "this one doesn't have it". Could have been more clear I suppose. Thanks for pointing that out.
My money, I'll take an Acura RDX for bullet proof reliability, value, and low cost maintenence

Hey Mercedes, give us the c wagon instead of this garbage. I liked the hard edged, tough looking glk.
The sharpening of this video disturbs me.
+Kaelin Curtsinger Me too. It was a mistake.
I don't mean to be so critical, Tom. I've always watched your videos and have enjoyed them for years. Hope you never quit it!
+Kaelin Curtsinger Nope, the sharpening is over done. Didn't really catch it until after the video was established. It's an experiment gone wrong.

Only you can decide that Carly
Carly Kennedy my friends who got new Mercedes as kids and they were kinda expected to be the ones who drive. Especially if it's an suv.
No bluetec, not an option for us.
Nx is too small. Doesn't compete
+snazari1994 For some it will. Depends on your back seat needs.
sorry about your camera dude
+mribanez91 It was just uploaded... it takes some time before all resolutions are available. OH LOOOL just saw the ending :P haha
+mribanez91 The camera is fine, it would not be the first time a GoPro fell off a car. Just glad I got to it before another car came...
+Driven Car Reviews Tom, I wonder who set the camera up. It wasn't you or Martin, your production assistant. Had to be that "evil twin"....
+Billy Sou Give a guy ONE job to do and he can't even get that right.
mercedes is not anymore
Audi Q7 would be my choice.
+John Grytbakk This vehicle is to compared to the Q5 and X3.
looks like an old Nissan
