    This is PART 3 of the Cafe Racer hump build series.
    I'm joining the hump to the seat base, You could also build this all in one piece if you want, I did it this way because I thought I would make it easier to release from the mould it 2 small parts than 1 big part.
    I gave this a bit of body filler to finish it off and I also reinforced the hump to the seat pan later with fibreglass on the underside that I isn't shown in this video.

    Looking awesome! I think it looks pretty sweet as it stands, but then again even the tape lines give it a great effect. I vote you make a second hump/seat using the mold and have the option of swapping them :)

    I think your designer pal has nailed it - and although it’s a little hard to see the lines accurately on video, picking up the top of the hump may give it a slightly better line with the top of the tank? Excellent work, a pleasure to see things done properly!

    I think its a top idea, i want to make a scaled down version of the back of my tank for the hump ( R80) try using the plug , make a new hump and put two slits where you had tape , this will allow that gental rise nicely, re glass underneath and fill with bog . Good luck

    Thats awesome mate. Its great to see another fellow aussie on youtube 😁 i think a nice custom pinstripe following the lines of the tank an down the hump would look great but with your skills matching the hump with the tank would look killer and look factory made. Great job an i will look forward to seeing her compleated. Cheers Mark

I'm in victoria in a town called kilmore. I love Queensland there is so much to do there. I have been up there on the goldcoast a few times an its beautiful. Planing on an adventure trip following the coast from here to the tip of aus 😁 your new design an ideas will look awesome mate great work, i know its time consuming but well worth the effort 😁 cheers Mark

    Happy belated birthday! I think it will be worth the work of adding the lines to your hump. Little details like that are what makes your bike unique. As for the painting, I think you should give it a go yourself, you've got the patience and the talent required to get a great result. the key is to put on enough clear to be able to cut and buff out the orange peel and dirt.

      @CafeRacerGarage  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      Thank you for the kind words Joe, you are a great guy, I really like that we have the ability to build amazing machines and make them unique just by adding little touches as I know you do the same on your builds, getting little ideas and inspiration from each other is what its all about, I hope my videos are of help to you in some way :) Thanks again for the birthday wishes.

    Yes to matching the tail with the tank.
    Btw a cbr600 f2 rear wheel fits on the rear with only a few alterations (Bigger spacers). You can fit a 160/170 tyre on the 4.5 inch cbr wheel. Probs a bit too late now that you have already powder coated and purchased the rubber hah. Im doing the swap soon.

    Adding the detail from the tank would be worth the effort, though you could likely mimic it with paint. That said, the effort required for the paint is very likely more than with fibre glass. Keep up the awesome work man!

  • @MotoGoato
    @MotoGoato Pƙed 6 lety

    Yep on the tank lines copied on the hump ... that would look sweet!! Even with just the tape there you can see it'll tie in and flow really good. As others have said, you could even do it with paint and give the hump just a visual effect of having the slightly raised center section. Coming together real nice now man :) Looking forward to seeing what you do with the rear footrest hangers, air filters and exhaust .. I know that'll all be coming soon ;) Oh and clocks as well ....

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  Pƙed 6 lety

      Thank you mate, I have loads more Ideas still to come. :) As for the rear-seats and the exhaust, they are parts I'm still trying to work out, Im currently trying to find an aftermarket exhaust for this bike to get the 4 into 1 pipes so i can wrap them to the junction and custom build the rest.

  • @outonthetracks
    @outonthetracks Pƙed 6 lety

    Hey Dan. Looking good as it is but I do agree with some of the other comments that following the lines from the tank would look awsome. Touches like that always set a build appart from others. Perhaps you could use the mold you already have to play around with different profiles rather than muck about with the one you've done? That way you can have different looks for what ever mood you're in! As always, love ya work.

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  Pƙed 6 lety

    Another thing take your emblem mounts off the tank, and put them on the hump. To be different small changes get appreciated more.

    Yes, great idea. Now, modify the existing one or make a new one from the start... both are great options but from start would be cleaner

    You'd better not stop building bikes. The lines on this thing are so good that i can't even watch other builds on other channels because they are sub-par and it drives me insane. Oh well, i suppose that's what happens when the bar is raised. As far as the hump lines, i'd certainly be interested in seeing it done, but I'm not the one doing the work. What you have now looks excellent . If you decide to do it, making a new hump and comparing the two would be your best bet. Hell, show your buddy how to make it ;)

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      This would have to be the most amazing comment I've had! The comments like this keep me so motivated to share more of my build, so a big thank you to you brother :) I will make the new hump with the lines and how I plan to do it is first making a mould from this one and than making few new humps to play with some other cool ideas i had, just so I can share the process on video and help anyone else wanting to do the same :)

      To be honest. I own a 2001 Honda VFR800Fi. Presently, I am turning it into a naked/cafe/scrambler (Something I like. I hate labels.) Basically, I wanted a new look. So, I decided to get rid of the plastics. As part of the process, I will be making my own custom seat. The seat is for a Ducati 916 subframe (That, somehow, I mounted to the Honda). I.m learning a lot from you. Thanks.

I post one video a week Sunday or Monday. 2001 Honda VFR800Fi. is a very unique bike to turn into a naked/cafe/scrambler, Id love to see a picture if you would like to pm me and drop me a picture on the Cafe Racer FB page
