Hey everyone welcome back to another video! Today I am super duper excited! Were taking the FIRST LOOK at the NEWEST Class B in the RV Industry. This is the 2021 Entegra Ethos 20T. This is so exciting and amazing I love that so many RV Manufactures are now competing in the class B game! The reason why this is so great because the more the Class Bs on the Marker the more aggressive manufactures have to be on their pricing and that will make it better for you the customer. Also what makes this RV so great is the small touches from Entegra. I know this class B will be a winner!

I understand that most of the units you review are expected to sit in RV parks plugged in. When you do Class B’s, however, please talk about power management systems. It is the number one driving force in choosing a class b. Thanks

Generators are so 20th century. The new hotness are lithium battery pack systems with a second alternator on the engine and engine auto-start when the batteries get down to 20%.
In other words, the Volta Pure3 system as found in the Travato 59GL/KL. It's why I got a Travato 59GL.
Also not a fan of the twin-be-rear-bath layout since it precludes one from using it for hauling a foldable bike like the rear-bed models do.
Also not a fan of GIANT BLARING STICKERS ALL OVER THE OUTSIDE!
Get with the times, folks, and subtly apply the same stickers but in a little bit darker color than the paint job so they blend in more for better stealth.
And big giant pole tables are done as well - LAGUN TABLE THAT SUCKER!
They did get it right with the one-panel display - Winnebago's B-line could learn from that one, especially with their Volta system. Since I know a little something about micro-controllers and Nextion programmable LCD displays, I'll be retrofitting a 10.1" Nextion display connected to an Arduino microcontroller to do something similar to the Ethos but inside a Travato.

I always thought it was weird having a wardrobe in a wet bath. I've seen a few CZcamsrs complain about the Travato having a similar set-up. I guess moist clothes are not something to look forward too in a confined space. A dry bath in the back would be greatly appreciated and maybe other storage solutions for clothing.

The 3 things I like about this motorhome:
    1. the cabinetry
    2. the springs under the bed
    3. the bike rack placement
The 3 things I don't like about this motorhome:
    1. you have to move the sink faucet to lift/lower the sink cover

In wanting to downsize from our current Class A, we thought the Class B would be the way to go. We liked the entire concept of it, and we'd also have another mode of transportation for everyday use when not vacationing. A friend allowed us the use of their 2020 Travato for 9 days (they were actually selling it and hoped we would buy it); it had every option/upgrade available and was indeed a very nice rig. We stayed at a beautiful campsite with full hookups (did not want to try boondocking for our first adventure in a Class B). 4 days in we were ready to come home and get out of that van. My husband is 6'4", we have 2 dogs and we could not get comfortable. 2 days of solid rain kept us cooped up; we were miserable. Class B's have a huge following and they're in demand but not for us. Another telling sign is the amount of pre-owned Class B's on the market and many in the current year. People buy them and realize they've made a huge and expensive mistake.

    • @scottyh69
      @scottyh69 Před 3 lety +9

I agree, the price for Class B's is hard to justify when you can get more from a Class C at a lower cost. The driving factor for the high cost of a Class B? The B starts with a complete van body, which is built to automotive standards, which includes crash testing and meets safety standards. Secondly, it's a conversion instead of being mass produced. You're paying for the cost of a van and then paying for the conversion. I like the idea behind a Class B in that it serves as 2nd mode of transportation when not using it as a camper, and can be used as your transportation when vacationing. However, once you're at a camp site and then want/need to get around, you have to pack up and secure everything (a PITA). Ebikes are becoming more and more popular for transportation for the Class B set, hence more of them now come with a large bike rack.

@@BreinGames I agree that it's a shame, but the big issue is with having to add all of the plumbing and wiring and insulation and cabinets and appliances and everything else, into an already enclosed space with limited access. It's much easier to build a Class C "box" in an assembly line fashion, and then attach that to the back of a cutaway chassis.

Hey you guys are absolutely awesome!!! I greatly appreciate you doing class b’s because I’m seriously considering doing #vanlife and I think I can only afford the maintenance of a class b. I have my wife and disabled mother to consider and before my mother expires from her heart condition she always wished to see the Grand Canyon and Niagara falls and other places in the United States I’m hoping to make her wishes come true. An RV will be for full time living. We could really use a class c but I don’t think I can maintain the maintenance of the class c. I’m a disabled veteran and my benefits are my only salary. Plus I really like the stealthiness. Matter of fact I’m not sure how I could even afford the cheapest model for class b. I can only pray for God to provide.

A few minor design problems, but for the most part an excellent portable hotel room. I averaged 12 to 15 miles per gallon driving through mountains and deserts. I will just add, we made the trip with four little dogs and they loved it too. Thanks for your review.

Dislikes: 1- generator mounted to the underside of the vehicle? How many times are you going to hit that thing? That is an expensive piece of equipment to be taking major hits. 2- engine. A simple naturally aspirated engine is more durable and reliable.

First like for me is how many enhancements they have added since our mid 80’s Class B. As beautiful as it is I’d be hard pressed to go back to a Class B. Our current coach is a Newmar Dutch Star 3865. The space is perfect for us and our small dog but we started our RV life in a Class B and put over a 100K miles with our camping trips when our boys were still small so this would be a great option for weekenders for sure. Second favorite thing for me are the higher counters. And finally it’s the integrated Generator with option for Solar. Perfect for boondocking trips.

  • @janicelennon2198
    @janicelennon2198 Před 3 lety +2

I think there’s a step into the cockpit area in case the water gets out of control in the shower. The sliding door should be watertight, rather than having a shower curtain in that tight of an area. I like that the bathroom is at the back so it can dry out easier, and keeps dirty shoes from going inside the unit to use the bathroom. I agree with Matt the lid on the sink is stupid, and I’d probably take it off and keep it in a lower drawer. It was a cute RV, and it would be great for weekend trips.

Matt I love the Entegra Ethos 20T except for 3 things. The first thing I dislike about the Ethos 20T is ,the micro refrigerator. CZcamsrs James and Stephanie of The Fit RV have an older winnebago Travato called Lance and it has a bigger refrigerator than the Ethos 20 T and so does the 2020 Thor Sequence RV Class "B" RV's. What is with the micro refrigerators they can't hold more than maybe 2 days worth of milk, eggs, butter, and fresh veggies for salads. So you have to break camp every 2 days to get more fresh food. Not fun . I prefer the bigger refrigerator, like The Fit RV Travato has or the Thor Sequence that way I can go out camping longer than 1 or 2 days at a time which the 20T's micro refrigerator only allows u to do.
The second thing I dislike about the Ethos is , the microwave placement. Why does almost all class "B" and "B+" Rv's , with the exception of Advanced RV class "B" Rvs put the confection microwave/ regular microwave oven down so low? I may be only 5'5" but I don't like having to bend so low to get my food out of the microwave oven. I'd gladly give up a couple of upper cabinets for a microwave oven placed at eye or slightly above eye level.
The third thing I dislike about the Ethos is , the wood storage/ wardrobe closet canbinet in the wet bath. I don't mind the wardrobe closet and drawers in the wet bath but it should be an all plastic/ fiberglass wetbath because even with a shower curtain protecting the wood eventually the moisture is going to cause mold, mildew and delamination of the wood storage/wardrobe closet and drawers.
That's it that is my 3 main dislikes about the Ethos 20T. Oh I have one more. Number 4 dislike about the Ethos 20T is that while other class "B" RV brands are now using the armless awning system with wind sensors, Entegra is still using old awning setup. Well, now that truly is all I have say about the Ethos 20T . Some will like it , some will love it and some will dislike it. If it weren't for those 4 dislikes, i would like it. Maybe in the next generation of Ethos.

Quick heads up on this Ram Promaster chassis: That storage area above the cab has a reputation for getting really hot in the sun - so hot it's known as "the pizza oven!" I understand the heat can damage some items, so be careful what you store there if you park in the sun.

I like the idea of a Class B for easy driving. But I cannot give up the much need space and necessities.
This is practical and fits the price. You can define see where the corners were cut to keep a lower price.

Some nicer features than the Travato but very similar. This sleeps two people but has much better storage than the travel trailer on recently which slept six or eight and also has a better designed kitchen.

This is my dream Class B. That's the exact layout I want. I honestly can't limit my likes to just 3, and my only dislike is that it isn't sitting in my driveway right now and probably won't be for several years until they start showing up on the used market.

There are a few reasons I would not buy a Class B with a rear bath.
    1. The back doors should open for breeze and view. Imagine a sliding glass door in your homes bathroom. It doesn't make sense.
    2. Access. When the bed is set up, there is limited access, you have to crawl to the bathroom.
There have been some extremely low prices models with rear baths that I pass on simply due to this layout.
I love the cabinets as well!
The control panel is a definite good move forward to a more friendly user experience and user interface.
Hope your head feels better Matt!
Thanks for doing another Class B!
Glad Entegra is entering this growing market.

I loved the ratcheting back on the bed... and the shower area and curtain seem much better than another class b an owner ranted about... and this is a love but needs improvement... the table needs to slide from side to side and back and forth or it should be lagun table... just something that can get out of the way a little. Oh... and the front pull passenger pull up and out table... I always love those!

I am not a fan of the "B", but if I were, this would be along the sides of my choices. 1, It's Entegra, and that is a good choice brand. 2. It's tight, but livable (welcome to the the world of class "B"). The lack of sleepers is a nah-nah. If you could hook this to fit four, we would be golden. I suggest, perhaps a small over-cab, with T.V.?

Love your class B reviews. Like many Class B Twin bed models. Is it available with lithium? The fridge door should be hinged the other way. The rear table top is too big to handle easily. It should be cut in half as 2 tops, it already has 2 bases. Like the shower curtain track in the rear bath. Much better than the snaps or velcro in SOB's. The cabinet styling is great. The kitchen faucet should be moved further toward the window with a spray head style. No ladder is provided? Looks like there is a rack on top. Is there solar included? Waiting to see the 20A. It looks like a great touring coach.

It looks very nice. I agree about the things you like on the dislikes agree about the sink, but the step does not bother me or the sitting height. I do question the bathroom, maybe having shower wand on other side of toilet, so it can reach out side and have a option for a second shower with open doors. I also question the low generator under the truck that's kind of scares me because of the areas you would want to bring your home on wheels. Overall I think it's a wonderful vehicle and they did a great job in the customization with all the wonderful storage that they provided.

  • @1guyin10

The Promaster is the more extreme example, but all the Eurovans have fairly upright driving positions. That is done to squeeze more cargo space in a shorter platform. You do get used to it after some time. The pug nose is designed that way so it is easily repairable and so that it takes a serious impact to damage expensive parts like the headlights.
The generator position concerns me. The driver will have to keep in mind that there is limited clearance back there and try to avoid straddling road debris.

  • @stephenwhite546

Three things I dislike - generator placement is horrible , the step down from the driver area , and last but least the screen door . Three things I like - it’s on a Ram , the awning , and finally storage space. But I will be honest I think in the class B RV Winnebago has a much better product for the money .

  • @shipsbells

Great video 3 dislikes 1. Small propane tank 2. Don’t like the valances on the windows. 3. I hate wet baths, but a flip up/down sink is a deal breaker. 4. solar? I do like the system Winnebago has. Likes 1. Cabinets. 2. The big table in the back. 3 under bed storage. Another thing. There doesn’t seem to be nearly enough clearance under the rig. That generator is really low. Could be a problem when doing off grid camping.
