1966 Buick Convertible Barn Find Rescue, Part 1
Vložit
- čas přidán 26. 05. 2011
- This is the story of a '66 Buick Special convertible that had been abandoned in Arizona in 1978 by the family of Rick Pewe, editor of 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine. In 2011, the guys from HOT ROD Magazine, in conjunction with Rick, spent four days bringing the car back from the dead with plans to drive it home from Phoenix to Los Angeles. This is part 1, with the hacking fun the guys had rescuing the car. Look for part two, loaded with road-trip hilarity. The story is printed in the September 2011 issue of HOT ROD Magazine.

10 years later who else is here watching this great content?
me haha
Me
Always great form to start over again
Does anyone knows what happen to this car
Yup
The first Roadkill episode...before Roadkill!
And a good one
Roadkill episode 0.
@@SynchronizorVideos Roadkill episode -0
In 1976 she got the Plugs, Condenser, points, rotor, cap, radiator hose x2, coolant, timing chain, timing gears (sprockets), oil pan gasket & a timing chain gasket... ALL installed for $ 168.85 !!! My God My eyeballs almost fell out of my skull !!!
Even though this isn't technically a Roadkill episode it is one of my favorites. Taking a car that was rotting in Pewe's back yard for 30 years and driving it 500 miles home is awesome. What happened to the Buick, nothing was mentioned in the Roadkill car face off episode last week. I hope we see more appearances from Rick Pewe with the Roadkill guys he is a favorite of mine I have been reading him and Freiburger since I was a teenager in the 90s.
They still have it. They took parts off of it for the Plymouth Fury in episode 22 of Roadkill.
You feel that smooth ride and tight handling? That's the "Pleasurizer" working for you!
Long Live the Pleasurizer!!!
Yes pleasurizer give your girl a good ride
The humble beginnings of Roadkill...
its the good old days, before mcdonalds had breakfast all day long.
+Andrew y not lunch all day long fast food breakfast sucks
Thank You!
They should have stayed humble.

They did...
this is like the roadkill before roadkill
Rick got me when he tasted the diff oil I thought he was going to be like OH dude.. it's fine. Even Rick has his limits
This slower pace, lots of hanging out, NO RUSHING, is such a pleasant treat.
I miss this kinda Roadkill.
I love lo bucks
Just here for all that rockin' music, baby!
This is better than anything on TV!
Anyone watching this after seeing the Barn-Find Buick Roadkill Extra episode?
Yep sure am!
TheAmerican GT re watching it lol
you bet.
hell yeah son
Wow, for a car that sat outside for 32 years, that thing is in amazing condition.
God loves Arizona. ;)
I miss these old episodes 😢
straight outta the new roadkill extra video!
ME TOO BRUTHA! xD
Weird, how'd this Pre-kill episode show up all of the sudden?
mathue taxion was unlisted for a while
Oh I love it
This is so much better than Roadkill nowadays, but still love it too
PreRoadkill?....... Because ROADKILL!! I cant believe it's been 9 years that Ive been BUSTING UP with you friggin guys! Roadkill foreplay...... Nice🤛😎🤜
"Dood... that dont taste right" aahahah, now thats a diagnosis!
no
love how he knows what normal diff oil taste like lmao
that's a great idea for a youtube show. Find an abandonned car, get it running and drive it home. Simple, to the point, instructive, funny.
I want more.
The Delco Pleasurizer has one of the most funny commercial outtakes ever though...
Kinda looks like an episode of ROADKILL!! I been a HOT ROD fan 2 Long
I know it feels like desha vu
Channeling rodders from the 40's, fixing old cars and having fun, cool!
Oh thanks CZcams Algorithm for letting me watch this for me unseen pre-roadkill video, because I can't watch new episodes :)
Dude what a gig Great Buick
Thanks a lot for all the very kind comments. We like to have fun.
You're the coolest dude in the automotive entertainment, along with Finnegan and Edd China
8! Years! Ago!
Come back to CZcams
@@theangryitalian7922 5 dollars a month gets you all the finn and frei you want, plus literally every episode of top gear ever made, and plenty of other things as well
Rust brace. Thanks for that gem of engineering enlightenment.
"Would I sell you a smoking car?!" made me laugh.
2:54 I loved their reaction to “Windex”
The original Roadkill. They NEED to go back to this kind of stuff.
Ahh, someone heard me. A Hot Rod version of D.E.D. Like to see this when it makes print. One thing is for sure, you guy's are not boring.
I'm glad they eventually got the right idea and put the STOP sign under the *brake* pedal. :)
I knew they were going to take the hood off after seeing that water pump.
i can't think of a car that wasn't driven without the hood except for the monoxide cruiser
I just watched this how today, August 11 2016. A week ago, I did exactly the same thing they are doing. I clamped a bunch of angle iron together to make a Brake -- so I could make a spoiler from aluminum I cut from a road sign. It didn't work. Aluminum ruined. Wow. How amazing to see these guys doing this.
And that exact same angle grinder -- lasted me about 20 minutes. I took it apart to see why. The brushes wore out quick and left the clip holding those brushes to rub against the motor contacts and ruin the motor. Harbor China Frieght not always so good.
I'm glad this stayed when Roadkill left CZcams.
AWESOME that you got a car that sat 33 years on the road in 3 days! And its got so much potential! Wish I still had my 64 Galaxie 500 convert!
Best roadkill episode ever.
I'm trying to get a 79 Monte Carlo back on the road after sitting for 22 years. It's nice to see other people doing similar things, especially when it involves cars.
Was grand to see another hood in the back seat roadkill trade mark lmao.. Way to go guys
My uncles got a '79 Pontiac Lemans that's been sitting for more than 10 years. I would love to do this with it.
Nice vid, too.
I spent about 2 days trying to find this again thinking it was on Roadkill...... this really needs to be on Roadkill
I had the same car only in a little better condition, it had a top and interior. Great job guys.
I guess this started Roadkill? Mike and David make this the funniest car show ever!
Love the safety flipflops
Another fine member of the GM family. Nice.
I love you guys! its a great show you do, love the comments you make when youre working together.. nothing gets in your way, u guys run on positive attitude to get you through. keep it up! best show on youtube!!!
That's not what it's about, man. It's just about the fun of getting together and bringing a great car back from the dead. I wish I had their talent.
'66 buicks rock !! I had a 66 Riviera....last year for the nailhead, and one year only Qjet/spreadbore intake, the best year made !!
Damn! I still wish you guys had that car. Would LOVE to own it!
Love this production, fantastic material
PB blaster is the shit! I always keep a can of it handy,It's save me many potential headaches!
Reminds me of my rust bucket 71 lark......Great ride enjoy yours!!!!!!!!!!!PEACE....
First, i want to say, i heartily second your product endorsement of pb, that stuff is a life saver!! Second, thanks for all the flashback memories, as i've done at least 98% of the "engineering" you fellas did in the spirit of getting old cars back on the road. I've been a mechanic for almost 25 years and this video made me smile and chuckle a bit saying "Whoa, i've done that too!!" You guys are awesome and keep the videos coming, especially the charger and muscle truck.
This was uploaded on My moms birthday and the day i graduated highschool!! woo 2011
These guys are ACE ! Love you're work boys, keep it comming... Bloody brilliant
This is what it is all about! Love that interior!! :)
Nothing like a well kept American classic.
$168 for all that work? Damn thats a deal. Even considering inflation.
Just for perspective, $168.85 in 1976 is equivalent to about $878 today in 2022. Good price still, but not as cheap as it sounds.
The Delco Pleasurizer, but it's not ribbed!!!!!!!!! LMFAO :)
This should be added to Roadkill as episode zero
Sweet.I had a '65 Skylark and miss it so badly.
Roadkill before it was Roadkill.
whoa look at that old school Airport tug! aaaaaaaa that's awesome! (the ones we use at the airport now are late 80's/early 90's tugs, made by Stewart and Stevenson, powered by Ford 300 inline 6 engines.
It looks so awesome in HD. The videocrew did a great job again!
Strange how I ended up getting a 1966 special deluxe 2 door hard top with a v8 and it’s pretty mint for being a New York car
i so need your job! you guys keep up the great work and I will keep watch and reading.
so much love for the buick, great work btw
I like how he popped the inner wheel bearing out of the hub by leaving the nut on the end of the spindle...thats a really cool trick
drum breaks never need replacing.
and you always have the option of pulling the road signs and powering it Flintstones style if you run out of gas. Or want to go extreme eco friendly.
... come to think of it the Flintstones were eco friendly way before anyone.
sonoma314 They where the modern stone age family
It's 2019, almost 9 years after this. And now roadkill had left CZcams forever 😣.
@What Should Never Be i agree.
Its sad😥😥😥😥😥😪
Hell that's Entertainment !!!
from floor less to flawless.
Why is the hood off? Because Roadkill!!!
awesome! i just found these!!!
No wonder why I couldn't find this, it's not on Motor Trend. They have a RK set to Private, I thought this was it. This one was got me hooked!
These vids are just amazing. I love how with some elbow grease, yal can fix just about anything, and show us it can actually be done. The stop sign and R/R sign was the icing on the cake.
PB Blaster definitely works!
Freiburger says "We could die" not even twenty seconds into the episode. I guess old habits don't die lol
Wow now thats real CAR CRAFT !
You two are absolutely entertaining
It pretty cool with all the stuff that they edited out for the Roadkill!!!!
Do rest of them like that.......
Thanks again for another awesome show guys! keep it up!
2:29 First time something was "mint" on roadkill.... start of a new era!
A revolution
Plus it's kinda cool to learn about car parts
The sad thing is, I bet that car was in mint condition when parked. In 1999 I bought a 66 Skylark convertible off the original owner, a 91 year old little old lady. The off-white interior was in mint condition, even the original carpets and floor mats were perfect. The 300 V8 ran perfect as well. These Buicks are very fine road cars. I drove it in 2003 from RI to Michigan for the Buick 100th anniversary car show. It ran flawless..........
Though I am visually impaired, I am a huge car buff. Especially old muscle cars. I have a model of a '68 Camaro Z-28. I have been reading your mag since high school, that's why I subscribed to your channel
Didn't know that one, I'll have to try it next time I'm in need of it, thanks
yes going to watch every episode
God, I'm older than I thought..Hand-packing bearings is the only way I know how to do it--LOL
these guys r hella fun to watch
Thats actually a pretty damn nice car
*rubs the pleasurizer*
Nicely done XD
You two are awesome 👌👌👌👊
This is giving me my Roadkill fix.
"The seat is to good for the car." Awesome
They were so young wow
LOLL "Pleasurizer" :D
Great video ! thanks for sharing will stay turned!!!!
