This episode, oh my God blew me away. I am watching this show for the first tme, and I think that was where I really seen the depth on how good this show is. The interactions, the writing, the actors delivered the total potential each and every line. Even then im still like missing stuff. Every time ill go back if i think i missed something and ill catch something, its just the best show i ever seen. I dont take that lightly saying its the best. This whole episode, the relationship with Tom and Greg i thought was complex and hilarious, but Roman and Gerri is just as good in a whole different way. Usually the writing of the dialogue is easy to figure out, generic where anyone can say the words but as much as you think you can guess, embrace that you won't come close. This is one of the top three shows ever made. HBO just has the absolute best catalog of movies. I been a subscriber since i was in high school. Honestly it was the very first bill i paid as a working man. Haha.
And even the final nail in the coffin is Shiv broke the ice by saying "It's supposed to be me, right?" Man, I thought the dinner party episode from The Office is the worst!

I don't read as much as I'd like to 'cause I'm so busy and exhausted but I could recc you some stuff if you asked and have a chat about books etc etc. Roman is not a reader in any capacity it seems, he seems like the kinda guy who never read anything beyond school required reading. The Pierces weren't genuinely looking for recommendations there, they were trying to suss out how 'educated'/cultural the Roys were, hence he was specifically like 'Anything not recommended by Oprah?' and she immediately went to look it up because she didn't believe him. Tldr I don't think that response would've worked because the Pierces would've needled him for at least one non-mainstream book rec and Roman likely hasn't read a book that wasn't on the syllabus
Too be fair, The Pierces is as bad as The Roys except they are way more pretentious. Probably the only good Pierces are Maxine, he and Connor are getting along and also Naomi because she's chill. She and Kendall are honestly cute together even though she's also a coke addict.
