PDC parking sensor fix -
In the Mr12Volt module settings menu select "Car Setting" next select the reverse condition drop down options and select "Parking Key" this allows the PDC to work as factory and remain in the Mr12Volt module on my CIC - Enjoy!

Great video, I installed it exactly the same in my E92 M3 with CIC but I had to code mine for it to work. I also removed the frame where the head unit is located to enable me to tuck the look without scratching my hands up and this made it a lot easier.

That’s not a bad shout if you don’t mind a little interior trimming - how bad my hands got chewed up it was tempting to remove the dash 😅
Great vid. Installed my mr12volt on my 2010 E90 yesterday with the help of this video. I will say I’m in the US, so left hand drive, and that pocket you mentioned to put the loom into is on the same right side of the radio cage so basically all of my wires go to the right side inside the passenger well. I didn’t have that fiber optic cable on the under tray cover. I did have to code the cd changer on mine and I also disabled the onboard voice control so I could use the steering wheel button to call Siri instead.

I did expect some slight changes for lend hand drive cars but figured it would be close enough 😅
James thanks so much for taking the time to do this video watching it convinced me to get one and do the install myself which I did today. I did not need to code my CIC and the install would have taken about an hour but it took almost the same time again to plug the hazard warning light loom back in until I realised the switches between the vents actually pop out making it much less fiddly. Not sure how you made it look so easy it was a tight hole 🙂Anyway got there in the end so thanks again.

It’s fiddly but for me the worst part was finding somewhere to put that big black connector block… cost me some skin that 😅
@@stoneautomotive Your pain saved me that grief went in second attemt, I did struggle putting the 12volt box where you put in was very tight but got it in there with a bit of force.

What a fantastic video, installed mine last night and this was so clear and concise! 2012 LCI that didn’t need any coding.
Mine has the cd changer in the boot, the loom unclips from the side, remove the fibre optic part of the plug and put on the orange loop wire. I’ll drop a photo in the M3Cutters thread

Can you confirm about the BMW voice command button turning into Siri by holding the button ? Or it needs to be coded out ?
Also does the steering wheel answer/hangup button work when getting calls on M12v ?
Great videos mate! Just one thing to be wary off, the way you routed the microphone cable it goes Over the curtain airbag, in the unfortunate case it deploys it will pull the cable with it. Take that pilon cover off, it's easy, and you'll see it.

Hmmmm wonder why Mr12volt suggests that way too! Maybe just an over sight.. you would think (hope😅) the force of that airbag would rip through that mic cable with no issue but certainly a risk
Great video and great bit of kit mate ive got the rasberry pi in my e46 m3 at minute and been thinking about a few ideas of changing that onto something abit more modern theres the bluebus idea and also carphonics as a sysytem for the m3 like on yours but for the e46

what are you thinking of idea wise on the e46 🤪 im collecting bits at minute so i can have the boot button in the footwell it was added extra at factory n pretty pointless but its only thing i need to say ive got every option nearly 😁
Finally a great video about installing the box! Thanks a lot. I used to have an old Aliexpress cic disply but had several issues with it (and sound via the jack port). Does the toggling of the cic controller (left, right, up, down) work with the mr12volt box? Thanks again

From memory it’s all on the rotation rather than the up/down click etc, same as the BMW factory NBT evo on the later non-touch screen Idrives with Apple car play

This looks great. I’ll look at fitting this. Does this mean you can remove the Combox and nav unit from the trunk? Mine is a track car and removing all that would be awesome.

I’m not sure what you could remove from the original system, guess once the Mr12volt is fitted starting removing the oem bits and see if it’s still works 😅
Thanks for this great vid, thinking about getting one for my E91 LCI. Is the sound quality really as good as the normal system? I saw some other installation video's for this system and they complained there were issues with sound not being as full as before. Also curious how would playing FM radio go, you need to go back to the old system for that I assume?

The sound quality is fantastic and with the adjustments in the DSP I would argue it performs better than standard 👍
Very odd to hear you’ve heard other wise regarding the sound quality? The Android units that remove the stock idrive do loose audio quality massively so stick to the Mr12volt system 👍
Yep you can go back to the stock idrive system as factory as you’ve only replaced the cd option, your FM radio will still work as normal but what would change is if for example you were using Apple/google maps on Apple car play you wouldn’t be able to use the FM radio as your in CD mode… but there is actually an even better solution - download the DAB radio app and you then have better quality audio than FM and can run maps etc as it’s all then in Apple car play 👍
It’s basically what Evolve have done to their E92 M3 along with wireless charging!!
They must have watched my video and thought wow what a great idea we should sell them like Liam 👍😅
And with James code, a CIC is £55 cheaper from me 😉🙈 which is a big difference!

great video, super helpful! Is it still possible to keep the oem microphone for receiving calls if you keep bluetooth connected to both or does the Mr.12volt override it??
I was advised to Bluetooth connect to one or the other (either Mr12volt or original bmw) I can’t honestly see why you would need the original bmw as it can take normal calls or even what app calls through Mr12volt 😬
Obviously you may have requirements for the standard mic in which case it literally is changing the blue tooth over 👍
First, thank you for the great work you're doing with these videos.
I was also wondering what would happen if you connect the phone to Mr12v via WiFi (for the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) and the Bluetooth connection goes to the OEM unit (for the telephony part), could you give it a try and let us know? I suppose it's not a hard thing to try.
Last, the thinking behind this is to avoid two things, first having to work on the area where the OEM mic is (things might break) and second I don't like (perhaps others as well) having additional cables around the car, especially when they are somehow visible, it makes me lose that "everything stock" feeling.
So if possible please do some tests back and forth with the unit and let us know. Thank you!

I havent tried that method myself but reading online if it’s connected to BMW Bluetooth and you take a call it will pull back to the original idrive so you would loose Apple Maps (the main reason for installing the kit for me)
If your careful you shouldn’t break anything around the original mic as it’s all designed to me removed and once fitted you can’t see the mic cable at all (it would wind me up having cables on show so fear not I’m well chuffed with it 👍)

Quick question, is it possible to listen to the factory radio as a source and use let's say Waze? Many thanks for your video.
Sadly that’s not possible, the work around solution is downloading a DAB app and you can then listen to the radio with Waze etc but obviously double check your phone data bundle 👍
I noticed you plugged in the black usb cable to the mr12volt but then just tucked it in without using it. If going for a full wireless set up can I just remove it?
I’ve never used it since installing, the wireless set up is so clean and efficient I can’t see why you would need to use it 👍
I’ve also found on my iPhone 14pro it hardly touches the battery 👌
Does it still output high quality audio with factory amplifier and Harmon Kardon? Or does it use lower quality aux input?
I confirm in the video it uses the factory fibre optic hence the benefit of these over the android units that run aux.

I haven’t actually tried it to be honest, will give it a go next time I’m in the car 👍
I'm thinking about add ing this to my M3, are there any downsides afte using the system for a while. Any lag, non responsive, disconnect, audio issue?
No issues to report at all 👍
I wished I had done it sooner to be honest! The only thing that you have to keep in mind is it’s not touch screen but really easy to navigate round on the Idrive controller, really makes the interior feel a lot more modern

im 6 hourss in i want to headbutt the wall, i cant fit the big block power cable in the back, and now my aux port fell in ffs

bad thing after badthing for me... this morning i unplugged a black and blue wire from the ccc unit think it wass antenna cables? to try move it abit more, i left it unplugged and went to work and back. now my screen doesnt even turn on when i sstart the car theres a flash and doesnt come up... this is so annoying@@stoneautomotive
If you didnt run the mic up to roof would u loose the voice control completely
You wouldn’t be able to use phone calls or Apple car play voice control when using Mr12volt so would need to unconnect from mr 12 volt and back to original bmw to make calls etc.. seems pointless when it’s included in the kit and takes 20 mins to fit 🤷♂️
