I go to harbor freight and buy bags of 0000 steel wool . They come in small rolls and I carry a few with me. I mostly have it as a scrub pad but also as a back up fire starter .
Greeting from AZ. Land of ski walkers and wendigos lol. Great video. Always informative content. I keep a small piece in my fire kit as another resource
Hey bud,
Steel wool stays in my kit. Good work bud, keep it coming.
Thanks man!
I had never seen AAA's used to ignite it. Nice video, keep 'em coming!

Thanks for watching!
That was great! Thanks!
Great video, Jake! I played around with steel wool once. The wool wasn't fine enough so I had a hard time of it. This was a really good tutorial and I'm willing to give it another shot. Also, I appreciate the tip on how to use your knife for flint & steel. That's another something I need to work on. Have a great weekend!
Excellent video!! One of my favorites you’ve done.
Great video can’t have to many ways to start a fire. Big fan of steel wool
Very good video, yes steel wool has a place in fire making bag.

Will do, thank you!
Steel wool is in my pack. 👍
Well steelwool maybe old school but it’s lite in weight and I will carry it. Thanks for sharing
Another great video Jake! Helped me figure out what I did wrong using a 9v. I fluffed it up completely being afraid it wouldn't work as well being compressed. I see the error of my ways now, lol.
I’m glad you learned something!
I think steel wool is more practical to carry than flint and steel cuz it is multifunctional, weighs less, and can be lit be finding a flint stone just about anywhere .... even that big old hank of steel wool in your video weighs far less than any flint and steel combo....
I definitely agree with you
Good information Jake, Thank you
Good tips. Thanks Jake!
