    I got red Coleus cuttings to start showing 1cm roots from every node within 4 days in a DIY aeroponic/dwc hybrid cloner, and on Day 13 I can barely see the stems and the roots are between 3-6 inches long!
    4L tap water pH down from ~7.8 to ~6.0
    Clonex (half strength first 7 days)
    Rooting hormone (full strength)
    Keeping them in a separate identical setup because of how well they are doing, I've never seen a plant root like this before

    Hello, thank you for this video! I've always wanted to see how to properly propagate coleus and this answered all of my questions. I do have a suggestion/comment though: please turn the music way down, or better yet, not use music at all while you're doing the demonstration. The music is way too loud, distracting, and makes it hard to hear what you're saying. This would be really helpful for your viewers! Thanks!

    • @DIYHGP
      @DIYHGP  Před 5 lety +2

      Dea, yes because the plants have no roots, more water is better than none, since they will grow in100% water a moist soil medium will certainly help them to grow roots.

    I don't know what zone you are in but I am in Canada zone 4. I have several coleus I would like to take cutting from. For my zone when should I be doing this right now they are still looking good, but the weather is starting to cool off. Also my greenhouse is not heated so I will have to bring them indoors for the winter, would they be ok in a window or do I have to have them under grow lights all winter long?

    • @DIYHGP
      @DIYHGP  Před 4 lety

      DOROTHY, coleus are a real survivable plant as long as they get sunlight and don’t freeze they should grow roots so anytime before they freeze I would take cuttings.
