Sonic Symphony - Orchestral Medley (Sonic 2)

- These are orchestral renditions I did of a number of pieces from the "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" soundtrack for SEGA Genesis.
These are all featured in my free tribute compilation "Sonic Symphony - An Orchestral Tribute to the 16-bit SEGA Classics".

These were all arranged from various midi compositions found online. I take no credit for their compositions, only for the treatment of the instruments and arrangements.
The purpose of this collection is to create versions of these songs as close to the originals as possible, however with more professional sound quality than was available in the 90's.
i was expecting a boss and final boss orchestrated theme here also
If Sonic 2 had actually been released in the era of Sonic Colours, it would've sounded just like this! Magnificent work. :D

This is ubelievable! Firs of all the music is great, and second I am an aspiring arranger, i think is what you would call it. I'm starting a project just like this one. I'm arranging the sonic 2 boss theme for a symphonic orchestra at my school. I'm also doing for the rest of the sonic boss themes up to Sonic and knuckels. My second project was going to be exactly like this. I am really surprised that someone has already done it. Great job man!
When I hear this Hill Top Zone, I see some famous guy saying "G'night, everybody!" With some audience standing up, clapping and some credits coming into my head XD

All of these are great, but I believe Aquatic Ruin Zone tried a different approach, and doesn't live up to the sound of the original.

@TheaterODaRediculous But in a way your lucky enough to have the history of video games at your fingertips. When I was 14, you either had to buy games, rent them, or play with your friends copies. Now you can emulate just about all of the back catalog of the older consoles. Including every Sonic game.

Thank you, I think it was like a combination of vibraphone, bells, and that twinkly synth. The comp these all came from has full length versions btw.

Classic and Modern Eggmen, Metal Sonic, Mephiles, Iblis, Eggman Nega, Silver Sonic(from STH2), Mecha Sonic(from S3&K), Metal Sonic 3(from Sonic Rivals 2 i think), Time Eater, Mecha Knuckles(from Sonic Advance) disliked this video.

@meisterification Thanks that was the idea with all of my game covers. To do them faithfully, but with a higher quality sound, and I happen to love neo-classical music, so I incorporated a lot of that influence into the overall project.
@vernianprocess I mean the Sonic 2 versions of the songs (Track 10 in Sonic 2 for Hidden Palace) and the Death Egg (final zone)

Well I hardly use the default settings. You want to tweak the EQ, and Release/Decay/etc for each individual instrument. You also want to make sure you use the right amount of reverb/chorus, and velocity plays a huge part in the way Edirol triggers samples.

@XxCleric97xX As you can probably tell, I too am a huge fan of the original Sonic soundtracks ;) I really do appreciate your honest feedback. Have you heard any of my other orchestral game covers? I've done collections for Cave Story, Final fantasy 7/6, and Castlevania. I also just u-loaded a Capcom tribute the other day too. =)

Ok, so you did this with only MIDI, so I was wondering, did you use a program for the orchestra, or did an actual orchestra make it. If you used a program, I'd love to know what VSTs and what program you used.
If it's a real orchestra, then kudos to them, too! :D
Three things:
1: Chemical Plant Zone and Sky Chase Zone were beautifully recaptured.
2. I feel like Hilltop Zone lost a bit of it's... hilbilly feeling it had. Personally, I prefer the original.
3: Even though it wasn't included in the game apparently, can you do Hidden Palace Zone?
@VernianProcess I understand lol man, Sky Chase Zone = one of the best songs in video game history. (to me anyway) XD it brings back feelings of playing the game :P

The tones, effects, eq, settings, choice of instrument samples, etc. Basically what I'm saying is I didn't just slap these midi arrangements into my software, I took a lot of time tweaking things till I thought they sounded right. In hindsight, I should have tweaked it a bit more before releasing it,
