I am ridiculously excited for you about the cherries. At first i thought they were grapes, and I told my husband. When I found out they were cherries, I had to go to every room of the house and update my family. They nod and smile at the crazy mama who lives vicariously through her CZcams friends. My goodness, the cherries alone make this one AWESOME haul! They are almost $7 per pound here in southern Texas. Oh, please make a canning video with them. I'll be drooling the whole time 😂

Went dumpster diving for my first time at our Aldi. It was so exciting
About 15 years ago I was watching a daytime talk show and these were medical students working their way through medical school and what they did they did dumpster diving there were four or five living in a small apartment they had everything in there and it was still good boxes of cereal oatmeal can stuff you name it
Pecans are great. Always make sticky cinnamon buns with pecans. I even mix butter, brown sugar and pecans to put on the Pillsbury cinnamon buns then put whipping cream around the buns. Excellent.
Dollar Tree now has canning jars and extra lids , all sizes.

You can use a straw to get the cherry pits (seeds) out easier when you're cooking them for jam, pie filling, juices, etc.!

Our local Aldi's lost its roof during Hurricane Ian... Almost a Category 5... We're in the "FEMA disaster zone"... Our house did well, lost a sixty year old Oak. Here's the point, rumor has it that Aldi will re-open in a couple of weeks! Lots of re-stocking and waste... for me to take!
No pecans for me, but I like them warm with some hot tea or coffee. Good luck with the cherry jam, that's real frugal and practical thinking.

My brother found 5 pounds of potatoes at Walmart for 0.75 He bought 250 pounds and we are dry canning and also making hash browns with peppers and onions. What a buy. We are also planting some in green house to get starts. Will chit them first then plant.

Check Goodwill for canning jars and yard sales once the weather warms up. Check the rims for nicks. An inexpensive way to increase your inventory.
Seeing all those English muffins, reminded me I used to make mini pizzas, with my kids, when they were little. A little pizza sauce (or spaghetti sauce), toppings of your choice, mozzerella cheese, and/or other cheeses, bake in a 375-400 degree oven, on a cookie sheet, and everyone's happy!
It also reminded me that Pizza Puff day at my school cafeteria, was my favorite time to buy lunch. They used hamburger buns, but they were the best!
