Soke Inoue Yoshimi - Hikite and mawashi uke - Seminar Italy 2013

Soke Inoue Yoshimi, Rika Usami's legendary master, talks about the importance of basics in Karate and shows some common mistakes seen during kata competitions. In particular, he demonstrates how to perform hikite (withdrawing hand) and mawashi uke (circular block). Incorrect techniques may not be noticed and penalised during competitions; nonetheless, it is important that the next generation of karate practitioners is taught the correct way of performing these basic movements, before learning advanced katas.

I first bumped into Yoshimi's video end of September 2020. Since then I cannot stop watching and repeating his clips. However, I felt so sad to learn that the great master is no more, when I read a R.I.P comment. We leave it to God Almighty but how I wish he was still alive. I could have plugged into one of his virtual lessons during Corona period.
Meanwhile through severa of hisl videos, I discovered that most of the top performers in the world championship stage were his students. May he rest in peace eternal. Thank you for uploading this video.

Great lessons!!!!!!
A little change in technique makes a huge improvement in movement.
I have noticed his students "sinking" into their stances when moving. I never learned anything like this.
