  • Caravan Layout - get it right or it may be costly. After weight on your car and length for the drive or storage, layout is a compromise we found just one step too close to wrong. We made the mistake and in this video we talk about what we think we did wrong and the things we really wish we'd thought about.
    Mentioned in the video is one from The Trudgens when they were looking at the Elddis range of caravans - • Buying a caravan - Par...

    For me the only obvious place for the washroom is middle no matter where you are you don't have to disturb anyone to go. The washroom at the end cases issues, the washroom at the side of the bedroom on the wider caravans traps one occupant when sleeping

    L shaped lounges are going to take off i think especially if for a couple and having that fixed island bed. Were totally with you on layout. Our first ever van was a NEC elddis odyssay 540 demo one with L shaped lounge but what let it down was a french bed across the back yes it was large but had to climb over each other to go to the toilet in the night

      Yeah. Absolutely agree the L shape lounge and transverse island bed has to a winner for a couples lightweight caravan 👍👍

    We'd never considered an L shaped lounge then the penny dropped when we walked around our van before we bought it. Like you say, it gives the three of us great room to slouch around watching the telly, and doesn't feel like you're in a waiting room sat on bench type couches. And maximizes the room when its chilly outside and a day to spend in the van. Cheers for this one folks 😀 Martin & Jo.

    Sound advice Allen and Ally x A lot of folk jump in with the excitement. But patience is a virtue, gives you chance to research your needs. ATB to you both Glad you love your new Van xx 🚐🚐🚐👍👍😘

      We did and we got away with it but it could have been a very different story. Nothing beats just taking a bit of time and getting it right. Hope you're keeping well Stephen 👍

    Probably one of the most important videos for all caravaners. Compromise a word unknown to me before looking at Caravans over 30 years ago. I do not envy new caravaners. There’s so much choice. I think you covered everything. You’re lucky that both of you are on the same page. Imagine if two people had different ideas. Not that’s happened to me 🙄. I have two teenage kids and a misses that likes her sleep. So my next van is a mattress with 4 wheels on. 😂

      There is a massive number of option, possibly too much choice but we think we're on a winner with this van. We are lucky there is just too of us . Just the thought of family priorities, especially teens is frightening. 😍😍

    Hi both, before we bought our first van we hired a caravan which gave us a great insight into what we wanted and what we did not want from a van. We bought ours and owned it for 7 years before we changed it for our current van.

      @@Coffeevaners we arranged it through Catterick Caravans, took it for a week to the lakes. Also it was the first time I had towed a van, which was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was an Elddis Avante, not a bad van but ended up buying a Bailey Olympus, which we had for 7 years. We now have a Coachman Pastiche.

    Some great advice on getting the correct layout that suits you, we have decided after 8 years that MH is more of a hindrance for us than a benefit so we have gone towards caravan, I have a video out on Sunday explaining why we are changing 👍🤔

      Looked at Motorhomes but like a car for travelling about. Plus how come most Motorhomes are around the same price as a pension 25% payout £50000. Funny that 😉

      Hi Debbie. Our only advice is to way up all the options. Write down what is really important to you and don't shift from it. Like moving to a new house, it has to feel right. Get it right and you'll love it. If like us you get it wrong and it will niggle the hell out of you. Happy hunting and hope you find your perfect second home. 😍😍 Ally and Alan

    What size is the table ? Does it get in the way ? I want to make a table cloth and napkin set before we pick up our cassita 😎 the quilts are in progress

    • @Coffeevaners
      @Coffeevaners  Před 3 lety +1

      Not sure of the exact measurements but it's a standard Elddis/Compass table. It is big. In our opinion too big for this little Caravan. We use it in the awning but have bought a small coffee table and slightly larger and higher table for eating from inside the caravan.
