I like a game when I get to force checkmate, it's rare. I wonder why lichess allowed the ratings gap.

the rating gap is because I play lots of my games in the arena tournaments. if you play via home page you usually get someome similar rated. in the arena's the system takes into account both your rating but also your position in the arena, and I believe your position is the first priority, so say over a long arena and you play lots of it, the players who work their way to the top tend to play each other, but system will only wait so long before pairing, so if someone similar rated is not available you get games with rating gaps. quite nice really, you get a nice range of opponents by rating, some lower rated players get gametime with players my level, even though they can't get their own rating that high, and some will win fair and square and equally we all get the occasional chance to play a GM or IM that play in these now and again.
