im an autistic parent with 2 autistic kids (please feel sorry for my neurotypical wife haha). ive been masking for over 40 years, and am happy that i was able to get my kids into treatments that help them learn techniques to deal with the world, where i just had to improvise back then. autism in the 80s was just like how he described autism in the south!

I now know why I couldn't stop mimicking my English friends accents! My husband and room mates hated it. I also did it with the deaf kids in high school when I decided to learn sign. I finally shook the English accent when we call! Took ten years though. 😆
