- I’m a comedian, so sometimes I don’t know what to do about real life shot other than make jokes about it that hopefully help the situation. This time, I know for a fact it can.
On September 11th, 2023, just after 5PM, an electrical fire ravaged through my parent's home, leaving them devastated and uncertain of what lies ahead.
My family is resilient as shit though, so our gallows humor shone through and we started making jokes about the situation itself, and then I took that on stage and shared it with Portland at Helium Comedy Club the weekend after my parents house burned down.

“For those of you who know our parents, Andy and Faylea Wilkerson, you understand the immense love and compassion they have shown to friends, neighbors, and our community throughout our lives. This hit close to home. Pretty much like my family. Down to the dad's feet, mom watching her firefighter show and the house fire. Still recovering from ours happened Halloween day 2021 this is very similar to what happened when our house fire happened 🤣 this was so therapeutic hearing people laugh at this

Hilarious! I live on the edges of a national forest, two miles from cell service & an hour from 911 responses…. I totally get it lol. I just made friends with the first responders teams & call their house if I need help. Cut out the middleman it takes too long. 😂
Broke my hand fighting a car in an intersection, then chased the car. My daughter loves telling that story. I feel this one 😂😂😂

If I were in the financial position to buy that house, I wouldn’t even have finished the video before I started trying to figure out which backwoods-ass Alabama county I needed to find to start the process!! I’ve never seen a comic or musician (or anyone, really!) that I instantly loved and appreciated like AJ. I saw a clip that someone shared on social media early this morning and I’ve been binging his content ever since. Success in any sort of entertainment is extremely difficult even without the disabilities that he has had to cope with and overcome, which is a major challenge that a lot of people never conquer. He seems to have come up with a way to actually use those disabilities, which nearly everyone would probably say are the reason that you won’t make it, as part of his formula for success. It’s inspiring because he has probably been told a million times that it’s never going to work by people that do this shit for a living and he has still persevered and is in the process of becoming a LEGEND of a comic (mark my words, in a few years time, or sooner, this dude will be a top-5 selling comic anywhere he wants to go). So happy to have found this dude!! I’m a fan forever now and will be sharing this dudes stuff with anyone and everyone that will listen long enough!!!

Been a fan for a while now, maybe 2 years since i first saw one of your videos. I always *_love_* your upbeat attitude to your material, no matter how tragic (especially in this case) the source might be.
I truly haven't cried tears of laughter and/or appreciation/empathy like this for a comic since Robin William's passing..
