Yes and Genesis had the ability to lift the listeners up on a higher plain. Their music was so positive and triumphant without being sappy. Its a remarkable gift/ability/talent.
Unbelievable! Steve Hackett is a phenomenal guitarist. Todmobile, fabulous. His voice was made for Genesis songs. I watch these videos all day. The orchestra and arrangement is excellent and the musicians look like they're getting right into it!
When such deeply appreciated music from early adolescence reappears uploaded in a breathtakingly beautiful symphonic version now, more than forty years later.. tears with joy.
I can't believe it. Your "Supper's Ready" version is fantastic but this special version of my most favourite song by Genesis is a masterpiece. The orchestra arrangements are perfect (one of my dreams was to hear the solo part at 2:30 played by an oboe) and Steve Hackett of course is one of the best guitar players ever. Thank you Todmobile for this great idea an magnificent event.
What's funny about your comment is that about 6 months ago, I was sitting with my husband listening to this song, and no kidding, I told him that if this song was ever rearranged for symphony, I would love to hear the flute solo as an Oboe solo. Isn't it strange that while music is subjective, in some cases a lot of people want to hear things a certain way?
Hadn't read the comments yet before making this comment - when the old flute part came on, being played by the oboe, I said Yes! That's it! That's the right instrument!!
It's funny how you guys call yourself Genesis fans, yet understand so little about what makes this music great. This remakes are pure garbage in most cases.
Se me vino mi adolescencia con este tema.. que maravilla que masterpiece de Genesis o de Steve...gracias por ponerlo en youtube..Saludos desde Argenhina y Steve vino a Rosario e hizo un recital espléndido!!!
Nice to hear Steve paying a complement to Jon Anderson and Yes. I was brought up listening to Yes, Genesis, ELP, Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, Rush, Tangerine Dream etc, you get the picture?. It was basically force fed to me by my brother who was into that kind of mind blowing music that in the end I could not compete with. He had & still does have the best hi fi systems money can buy so the sound was awesome & may I add very loud! My pop funk dance stuff ended up taking a back seat. I secretly started to pinch his LP's when he was out & started to enjoy it. I got caught one day with a number of his LP's n my room, so had to think on my feet. Consequently, it got me an A in my O Level Art exam as my excuse was I was doing a montage of characters from various Genesis Album covers for homework. My girlfriend's at my all girl school in '78 thought I had lost the plot big time, but it just goes to show I had good taste then & may I add, still do today, all thanks to my big brother!
Steve had a Yes connection ever since 1986 when he did the GTR thing with Steve Howe. There was also Squaqett with he and Chris Squire RIP in like 2010 or so. Giants of what we call Progressive or Prog rock. Jon Anderson has said he prefers to call it Adventure music because he doesn't like the Prog label as such. Funny that you mention 1978 because I saw Genesis for the first time which was a date with my future and now current wife. Fantastic memories....
My Favorite Genesis song . Great rendition here. Other Gems by Tony of Genesis are One for The Vine, A Mouse’s Night, Watcher of The Skies( w/Rutherford ), Burning Rope, etc
Tony Banks song? Really? They used to sign the songs as Genesis, so how can you say that? And looking at the musical style, see how Banks, Collins and Rutherford went POP... and see who's keeping the flame even today... I think it's a Hackett song, like many of the more classical, 'proggier' of them all
Just absolutely brilliant by Steve Hackett, Todmobile & the SinfoniaNord Orchestra, here. Well done indeed everyone! I watched & heard this several times, cos it was that good. :o) :o)
...since 45 years when i saw Steve playing this many times and 1974 in Montreal Live Shivers , everytime Steve play this solo its for me the Apotheose OF Prog , i remenber in Montreal Université 1974 for this Progressive Plage Compo of Steve 4:10 merci Hackett
Everything that Todmobile do is simply unbelievable, the highest standard possible !!! ….. I hope some day they are able to perform some of this awesome music in the UK, …….if not I'm just gonna have to get to Icelend one day...……….10/10 to all concerned, WELL DONE !!!!!!
A beautiful musical tapestry, an intricate kaleidoscope of band and orchestra together performing this timeless masterpiece. And with the great Steve Hackett on guitar too! sttgaegoaktd
Tod.(Thorvaldur B Thorvaldsson) Is the on the 12 string in this video and on the lead guitar here: czcams.com/video/yE1pnDERWU0/video.html He does the arrangements for the orchestra and Todmobile and usually conducts. The singers name is Eythor Ingi. Ok, I;ve seen all these videos you guys have posted lately with Steve, will there be a DVD release of all this material/ i would buy it in a heartbeat. It is FANTASTIC!
@@buckminster1579 I can't listen to that Nad guy. To me he's atrocious. In fact I don't listen to any Hackett w/ that guy nor would I go see him in concert w/ Nad....but hey, as long as you like him, that's all that matters.
Even though the vocalization of the letters are mostly wrong (check the version sung by John Wetton) we cannot deny its a great version and a great Orchestra
I attended this concert. I was numb for hours after it. Otherworldly experience.
I am chartreuse with envy.
Todmobile are amazing masters of classic prog. Their gigs with Jon Anderson are equally magnificent....

5:26 One of my favourite moments in music - long sustain then the bend into the theme, gets me every time.
I could not agree more, utterly haunting
How can anyone say this is not the greatest song every written? Beautiful guitar work as always Steve!
Yes and Genesis had the ability to lift the listeners up on a higher plain. Their music was so positive and triumphant without being sappy. Its a remarkable gift/ability/talent.
Everyone connected with this must have been thrilled at the outcome. Just magnificent all round....and yes, the oboe really works beautifully....
Well not everyone....Tudnut something or other in his post above thinks it is garbage. I'm with you.....I think it is amazing.
Just a wonderful piece of music by brilliant performers! One of the best versions to date (post-Gabriel).
Unbelievable! Steve Hackett is a phenomenal guitarist.

Le Lead Guitar le plus sublime et intelligent de l Histoire de la Musique , merci Steve Hackett pour ton génie
une idée sur le nom du chanteur ? merci !!!

You are a lucky man. My brother once said that Keith Emerson would be good if he could just play the notes right. My bro is a pig.
Eythor has got to be one of the most magical singers I've ever heard....!
Tony Bank's finest song, brilliantly arranged for orchestra with the master himself on guitar solo. Amazing !
My Favorite Genesis song . Great rendition here. Other Gems by Tony of Genesis are One for The Vine, A Mouse’s Night, Watcher of The Skies( w/Rutherford ), Burning Rope, etc

@@albresc1527 I agree, I can't even listen to Genesis after Seconds Out. When they went pop I wished they had changed the name.

Wao...spine tingliing version of one the greatest Prog Songs ever...
not a wasted note..all those sections stream seamlessly. genesis's ability to bridge those parts was what made them masters of their craft.
jeeze, that slide part at 2:20-ish is just plain terrible. I'd firmly say those were some wasted notes.

A stunning and totally worthy addition to the variety of versions...
So majestic! Great job y'all!
I learned so much about music dissecting this many, many years ago. Was not sure what I'd think of this version; so glad I gave it a listen. Awesome!
How anybody in this place was able to remain seated during the main groove part of this song blows my mind. I would have been up dancing. Sheeeeit.
Absolutely stunning, Steve in fine form.
Fantastic version!!
Amo Steve Hacket
4:51 Hackett sounds like Hackett live in 1973 here.😊😁
One of my favourite guitar solos ever
What a magnificant voice, beautiful!
