- Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.

Cane is the best The Show franchise CZcamsr and he’s still relatively new to it. You just love to see it.

Cane, I gotta say that you're an outstanding Franchise CZcamsr. I started following you from the different Madden series (starting with Tampa Bay), and those are my favorite, but you've gotten me more into baseball than I think I've ever been. Thank you for all you do!
Yes, we Cardinal fans have good memories of Kolten Wong. Mostly in a defensive aspect, but he's been in some good games for us.
If Masyn Wynn doesnt turn things around early next season, I would strongly consider sending him down to Triple A just to protect his development, I mean if he's getting to the point where his ceiling is going down, I don't think you can keep him up at the majors.
In general, the way these young players are not progressing offensively, I think we might be in for a year in which the best course of action is to sign a bunch of veterans to cheap contracts on the chance that several players have to get sent down to Triple A to protect them from regression
As a 2nd baseman in highschool and college. Kolten Wong was my favorite player. Got his jersey in my closet. Used to watch his defensive highlights every night. Miss him

Farm system definitely needs an injection of talent. Offseason needs to see some prospect-for-prospect trades or middling big leaguers for prospects in the field.

I feel like pitching needs to go back up to hall of fame. Those were two pretty efficient and dominant outings. I’ve also had pretty good balance when playing on HoF with good and bad outings.
I agree. He was right to drop it down initially because it did seem out of whack but I think now we know it was just the pitchers being bad.
Yeah it's something I need to play with more. A lot of my all star starts have felt balanced. Today's felt easy. It is Sonny in top form and Hence outclassing weaker competition, but still not sure where the difficulty will settle yet.

It feels like in general potential is nerfed across the board. I don't know if that lines up with the draft classes to simply use more of the ratings ranges to separate player abilities.
Watching this after the draft and hearing Cane say he would settle for JJ and got him, nice.

Hence's progression has been great. I would say hes 2 years away from being a quality big leaguer. Really wanna hold out until hes at 60+ at H/9, BB/9, and K/9.

TLDR for the specific issue of not being able to hop into full game outside of moment: Player moments won't allow you to jump in outside of player lock, UNLESS you break the player lock before the end of the moment, then you can quick manage, play, what have you as you wish.
EDIT: Also, don't go into the custom game sim from the game select screen, just set it up, and sim the days/weeks that you want to sim and it'll ping you like a critical situation from prior years, otherwise the game will automatically sim past the game you go into first and you'll miss more games or what have you.
So for the custom sim thing, I typically don't do pitcher player lock moments (those you'll notice say player lock when it comes to the scenario) as once you finish any player lock moment, you cant jump into the game itself. So you can always turn off player moments if you'd prefer (things like the cycle, 3+ HR games, shutouts, No-Nos, and Perfect games are player moments i've experienced, well not the perfect game). And for me, I go in bursts, and i think varying the slider every month is a good move, or at least as the season flows (i.e., get more involved in playoff bursts, end of year tank = play less, but still get in on critical and late situations). Its def something to tinker with, but I think its incredibly worth it for the style of game you are looking for, and the style of franchise you excel at.

Hey Cane, while you're player locked on a pitcher you can push in R3 (right stick) while the ball is in play and it'll follow the ball. That way you don't need to try to track it down manually with R3.

idk if anyones said this already but im pretty sure, for pitcher player lock, when the ball is in play you can hold RB or R1 to track the ball so its more smooth camera work for that type of stuff (pretty sure you can do so while running the basepaths as well)
Hey, I figured out why it says Very Late Pitch Release every single time. They changed classic this year so when you click a pitch you have to click it again when your pitcher throws the ball. If you time it well it will say good/perfect.
Remember, you can make custom camera angles for pitching and hitting.
I think Mason Wynn might benefit from some time in the minors next season. Needs to work on his hitting against weaker opponents

Hey cane! if you click your right joystick you should be able to do the broadcast angle still. hope this helps!
Pressing in the right stick locks the player lock camera to the ball. MAYBE auto-fielding would give you broadcast for balls in play for player lock, not sure.
Set up that Core 9 Strat the Braves used in locking up their young talent to team friendly long term deals
Tip for player lock: 2B covers second on steals vs righties and SS covers second vs lefties.

Hold the back right trigger after the ball is hit during pitcher player lock for that broadcast angle. Thats how i do it. Dont know if its different for PS5 or bot though.
Custom Game Entry I put Earliest Inning You Play up top at 5th or later & Medium or higher usually half way between Medium & High
Player Highlight Moments I'll put that at 7th so that a possible 9th inning AB is possible and enough games for my liking are simulated while still having some gameplay
I think Broadcast Cam in player lock is L1/LB, If you have Jump/Dive set to 2-button it'll negate it...I could be wrong lol

You should look to get younger in the bullpen during the off-season. Maybe trade Helsley especially because he's a FA after next season and his value is at his highest. Keep up the great work im loving the series!

I know you wouldn't do this but you should find a young pitcher on a team within your division and boost his stats, max out his potential, and rename him to Joe Michael.

Low contact players are impossible to develop in the show. If you wanna use Wynn I’d recommend just manually editing his stats every year or else move on from him. Unfortunate truth
