- Does Walmart continue the trend of new knife production? More and more Ozark Trail budget folding knives/EDC and outdoor gear have been revealed at Christmas time. Frankie and Bird go out of the city a little ways to go gear shopping at a knife-friendly store.

I don't even EDC my $140 knife because I wouldn't want to have to replace it. My EDC knife is a $12 folder and it does a great job opening boxes.

That swiss tech folder and the matching fixed blades are absolutely my two favorite using knives I own. Still can't believe the value in them!!!
Pretty similar selection to my Walmart in Findlay Ohio. Great thing about fixed blades at Walmart…action is always phenomenal.

I bought 3 each of the axis lock ones. Also grabbed the same fixed blade, the hatchet style bladed flipper and 2 of the red and black flippers from the $5 display. All cool knives for the money.
I bought the exact same $5 knives a couple weeks ago,they are so useful for everyday task
I've gotten a couple of these Ozark Trail Knives in the past and one of Walmart's Cheap Sharpeners. It takes a couple hundred swipes to get a Razor Sharp Edge to them put when you finally do it holds.

Look into CRKT knives
I have 2 Walmarts nearby (I'm in Texas). One Walmart is about 5 minute drive away and the other about 10 mins away. One only has the knives in the glass display case available while the other has the Ozark display you showed plus glass display case. Thanks for the vid, now I'll most likely go and get one or two of those knives to add to my collection 😁

I was waiting for this one. Nice haul. Glad you didn't pick up the blue Ozark trail. The assist spring didn't
last for one week on my copy. But in all fairness I broke the spring on two Kershaw assist. That's why I tend to avoid assisted knives because I fidget and wear them out. I haven't wore out an Omega spring maybe I should try? Cheers.

First time here. Bought three box sets of three knives in each box last week. Just $5 per box! Then today got that same assisted blade knife that you got for the same $7+ price. Love them all.
😊 I thought of you two when I picked up the two shaft locks. Evidently there is a 3 pack with another shaft lock in it.
Nice!!... my local store (palo alto CA) is not that well stocked, but not the worst I've been to. I picked up the two axis lock models, and the red liner lock flipper. They all will get a lot of carry time this year. My fave is the blue pivot axis lock. Three decent quality knives for the price of a super size #1 at mcdonalds!! Theres also a 3 folder gift set, with screwdriver bits for $15. My store doesnt have it though.
The Swiss Tech flippers are actually really nice. They also have a nice fixed blade with fire starter and a few other walmart exclusives that i havent seen in person yet. I also picked up a Buck Advance, nice thumb stud liner lock with some carbon fiber inlays at my walmarts. Swiss Tech have been around in camping and flashlights but their start in the knife world has been pretty impressive.
I got the Swiss Tech Gerundet. Surprisingly good for a $30 knife. 👍
I recently picked up the little Swiss Tech "Listig," which is analogous to the Victorinox Classic. I put it on my keychain, and actually like it better than the SAK. Which is crazy, because I'm a huge Victorinox SAK fan and collector.

I own both the folder and fixed blade and they're my favorite edc users I own now.

My local Walmart has huge knife selection from sog, gerber, kershaw, Leatherman and crkt. They also keep a fully stocked gun and ammo case that is superior to most Academy and dicks sporting goods. Guess it helps that I'm right in the neck of the woods that hunting and fishing is very popular here.

I'm in Eastern PA and work at a Walmart DC. I rarely shop there, but had a 25% employee discount for the holidays, so I thought I'd go check out the knife selection at my local store. It was pretty much the same as yours. I didn't buy any Ozark Trails, but I did get that Swiss Tech Gerundet and it's surprisingly good for the price. $23 after my discount. Excellent action and ergos. Blade (AUS8) is sharp, perfectly centered, and the edge is nice and even. Fit and finish is really nice. Well worth the full price of $30. ✌️

The crossbar Benchmade style lock model is cool. I haven't seen this lock style for such a low price before. Guessing their patent ran out. But the best blade style comment I heard in the video was "Reverse cowgirl tanto" that cracked me up! Go into any sports shop and ask where they carry the "Reverse cowgirl tanto" knives. That's hilarious! Both hosts are pretty funny.

Nice little haul! I too like those Walmart knives! Have bought a few already and just add an edge to them and keep them dispersed throughout the house! Bought the red liner one and love it,I also bought the wood handle one with gold bolsters love it. Our store doesn't have that crossbar knife just the black one.

In Western Nebraska, our Small Town China-Mart has a plethora of gun/shooting accessories, but there isn't a glass knife case & their on hand selection is pretty crappy!

Their are 3 Walmarts in the town I live in and 6 county next to me. None have these in stock🙄 except for the hunting/vamping combo packs. I had to orders all of these. For the price you cant beat them!!! Ive got about 50knives Ive collected in a year now. These amaze me for the prices!!
I wasn't a fan of the tanto blade but I got a sog traction with the tanto blade when I acquired my dad's knife collection. I carry it at work and I love it and it's such a lite carry knife.

I wanted to comment on that tan flipper, I acquired my father's knife collection which is a variety of brands of knives, buck 110, case, and others I don't remember. He also has about 8 older ozark trail knives ones you can't get now. That includes the tan flipper. I will start carrying that tan flipper tomorrow to see what all the talk is about and how good is it. I love all your videos. If I could I would love to send you a photo of my dad's collection. It's awesome

I got the assisted flipper with the blue aluminum scales and love it. Very slippery though.
Also, the jigged bone lock back, one of the cross bars and, unfortunately, the frame-lock Cleaver design.
I really like the Pledge. I had 2 , but gave 1 away. The Swiss Tech knives are good
I bought myself one & another for a Christmas gift. I bought 2 sets of the 7 count Moss Oak sets to give knives away.
My favorite Walmart is in a little town in the east Tennessee hills. They have the best outdoor section I have ever seen but they are only a few miles from several amazing trophy trout tailwaters running off the back of tva hydroelectric dams.

Depends on the store size and the location .In all of the Wal-Mart's around Baltimore md they have knife cases .

im in the midwest as well, ours is about the same, local one doesnt have the slightly higher knives though. mine did have the swisstec fixed blade though, super awesome knife

I have that fixed blade and it's not the worst knife. Very easy to sharpen but doesn't hold the edge long.
Went into my Walmart earlier today. Most of the display had sold through. I did find the 2 crossbar lock knives. So I did pick up one of each of those. A little sad to find out there was a black fixed blade. Pretty cool to see crossbar locks and tip up clips trickling down into $5 knives. I believe the $5 knife I picked up at harbor freight a week or so ago had 4 position clip, 8cr and bearings. Good video btw.😎👍🏻

Same Christmas display at my Walmart in northern Illinois. We don't have a full knife counter though. There is an online 3-pack of knives for $15, which includes an additional crossbar lock not available as an individual knife that I've seen. I did pick up 2 each of the crossbar locks you saw (to see if there was a quality difference). The one with the textured g10 (or similar) looks just like the Sencut Scepter. Both of my copies of the Ozark Trail version were pretty rough but you can flick them open with the thumbstud. The Scepter is a steal if you can find it as they were discounting it to $21. The one with the blue pivot is...well it's a knife. Those thumbstuds should have been moved closer to the back of the blade so the finger scallop would let you thumb-flick the blade.

I looked for the Buck collectible tins but my Walmart didn't have any of the special packs and tins at all did have the Ozarks tho. Ozark is really stepping up they're game as a budget knife for a work or beater knife
Grabbed several of the Buck collectible tins last year after Christmas on huge clearance. Was 💯% a no-brainer for the price. Talked a couple younger guys into buying themselves each one; told them they would kick themselves if they didn’t buy them and I did. Gave a couple of them as presents. Still have a couple in my knife collection.
Close to Bloomington indiana we have about the same selection definitely a lil more at this time of the year Camillus, Kershaw, sog and mossy oak like value packs is the best way to describe them I guess

In central New York most Walmarts have the glass case and they’re usually full of Kershaw and CRKTs. I’ve even seen a Benchmade in one once. Pretty much nothing in more populated areas though. Maybe a few ozark trails
don’t think we’ve ever seen Benchmade at Walmart but a Griptilian wouldn’t be out of place

During the later months of 2023, I bought a couple Gerber Prodigy (made in USA) for extensive clearance prices. Less than $40 for a USA full-tang fixed blade with sheath. Last look, I’m not seeing any made in USA knives in the sporting goods case anymore.

Thank you for this nice tour of Walmart. Unfortunately the Walmart by me is probably the worst one in the entire country, and I've been to many, many Walmarts. I'll look for these knives next time I go out of state.

I live up in the mountains east of San Diego and El Cajon California. There are a couple of Walmarts that we visit, one has the knives in the glass counter and another with the blister packs behind glass in a cabinet, I've really lost my enthusiasm for knife shopping at Walmart, always the least desirable models and brands. I'm sitting here flipping my Ferrum Forge Allurus while watching this video. You have reinforced my aversion to shopping there for knives. Thanks. Good video guys
