Easily Al's most epic and badass moments. I always felt like Al never fought to his full potential because he was afraid to hurt someone we know he's a better fighter than Ed but his combat alchemy is probably almost as good.
Al has a lot better alchemy. He traded more of the Gate's knowledge with his whole body. And he can perform alchemy without physical contact with the object as an extension of his soul. His alchemy is also without blemishes and markings.
This scene shows how much of a disadvantage the Elric brothers willingly give themselves by refusing to use the Philosopher's Stone, and how powerful they would be if they were to use it. It's a testament to their power and the strength of their conviction that they were able to go toe to toe with stone-powered beings without ever relying on that power themselves.
Absolutely. If Kimblee wasn't around to blow up Al's trap, he would've decisively neutralized Pride single-handedly. The fact that he had both of them on the back foot while using a stone is extremely impressive.
"I won't fall for that again" You can actually feel pride's hatred towards Al; it's as if he's fighting back along with uttering the lines - the effort manifests in the line and so does the emotion. Feels so real! One of the best dubs for a reason.
Just a fun fact, Hiromi Arakawa. (The creator of FMA) Designed Ed and Al's Alchemic style to he slightly different, Al's style is smooth and fluid, while Ed's style is Rough and Solid, thats why this fight looks so smooth, cause Al's Alchemy is Fluid compared to Ed's
+Connor Clemmons Ed was definitely the stronger of the two. And that could also be attributed to Al's body being metal and less nimble than a human, so he can't form the circles as well
idk he looks pretty nimble to me, keep in mind that even if it is armor there isn't a physical body controlling it he's not being hindered by it when he moves.
+supernaturalawesome1 I feel Brotherhood made much better use of Al. He had more of a purpose than just being Ed's reason to look for the philosopher's stone.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Al is more useful and he shows he's capable to wage his own battles without depending on Ed. That's why I like FMA Brotherhood much more
This was one of those rare moments when Al was so smug. When he said "a decoy :3," he acted so smug. It just feels so good when the villains get roasted back with the same smug looks.
It makes so much sense that he's using swords and dragons, cause he is in a huge suit of armor. Really wish they would have expanded on this to show how differently Al and Edward are when it comes to fighting.
+Trickling Progress I think that's where this scene truly shines. It shows how Al can operate without Edward always tagging along with him. Al is just as cunning and intelligent as Ed is and that really plays a part on how he fights because he applies himself in different ways due to their differing personalities. Ed normally just goes in guns blazing while Al resorts to trickery and tactics.
+MasterofHamsters i agree, Al was a better fighter than Ed, & since Al couldn't feel fatigued he could keep going, but Ed was better in alchemy in the beginning until Al remembered the gate.
It's become a habit of mine to refer to FMA as the Avatar of anime, but this scene just proves it for me. This battle is so fast paced you can barely keep track of it all- it's damn intense. Naruto and Bleach should have learned a thing or two from this anime, at the very least.
Naruto has its moments, Kakashi vs Obito, Gaara vs Lee, Madara vs Everyone, Naruto vs Pain, Jiraya vs Pain, Sasuke vs Danzo and the list goes on and on, but its greatness is so irregular, the fillers really ruin the hype behind every battle and most character aren't used as well as they have the potential to be.. FMAB is just perfect
Tigo2g Naruto's problem as an anime, I feel, was laziness. There were a lot of stills at times, and some of the frames looked hastily drawn. And the 5/10 minute flashbacks. I've already seen Gaara tell Naruto to give up on Sasuke, I don't need to see the entire scene to pop up an episode later because it's relevant. FMA:B had cut backs of something like ten seconds, and they worked so well.
Rebecca Tomlin yep, those flashbacks are the unecessary shit they put in the anime that isn't needed.. it it was JUST like the manga, like FMAB is, it would be on point
I want a series of Human Al, with knight based, Alchemic moves like this one. ie. Sword, Armor + riding a dragon. idc what the plot is, just gimme! lol
They could do a series on his adventures at Xing. It's killing two birds with one stone. You get what you want, and we get to know more about that eastern country across the desert lol
and as a fan girl, it will be also cute to see May there as the princess that fell in love with a boy even if she hasnt seen what he really looks like. 😍💙💙
@@sportygu123 That I'd definitely love to see. Show Al in Xing, and maybe learning some eastern martial arts from Mei, as well as Ling and Lan Fan, and hey, maybe even give him a Tai Chi sword as his weapon.
Canon that Edward in 5 years is just gonna be riding on a train with Alphonse and realize that 'Al' is in 'alchemy.' "Hey Al. You're name is in the word alchemy." "Lol, too bad yours isn't."
This is one of the best fight scenes in the entire series, fully cannon. I wish they had more fights like these, that wouldn't suffer from "filler fight" syndrome.
Even if Al is a chunk of metal and has no physical body I'm always worried for his life when he's fighting. I know he's capable but I still see him as an innocent kid.
Al whips out that dragon move a couple times in earlier seasons once he doesn’t need a transmutation circle. I clocked it the second time I watched the show bc this scene lives in my brain rent free
People should remember: Al was the one who always won the fights when they were kids. If things had played out differently, Ed would be the one outclassed by his genius younger brother.
still my favourite anime of all time like 10years later. i even watched it again to confirm it's actually good and it is. meanwhile rewatching other anime: wait, it's not even good. why did i like it so much xd
I like the dub well enough, I just wish they kept a direct translation of Pride's line at the end there. Something like "That's the Philosopher's Stone for you... one trick after another"
Brotherhood Al is competently fighting humuculus by himself. Meanwhile, the FMA Al I grew up with was questioning his own exiatence around this part of the story. He though he was basically a robot. They did him so dirty 😂.
patrick watkins I agree but comparing to how ed usually fights, Al seems to use a more strategic approach. I do think Al is very capable but personally, I think Ed is a more capable alchemist. and I guess the philosopher's does give him an advantage but we should also consider that he's fighting two of the most dangerous villains in the series.
i wouldn't exactly call Kimblee very dangerous. I guess lore-wise he's a big deal, and he's plenty smart, but with the exception of this fight(though he lost this one too), he's struggled in every other battle. Scar vs Kimblee was pretty one-sided, and Ed kept him on his toes too. I wouldn't even put him at Mustang's level.
your kidding right? the dub of this show is one of the best around. the japanese brotherhood dub just can compare. especially when it comes to the english bradley, edward, hughes, mustang, father, von hoenhiem and the entire armstrong family
I just imagine that Al was moving so that his blood seal would be protected even if it cost him another part of his suit (which he can instantly replenish with the stone)
This is pure guesswork but maybe they didn't wanna show too much violence on a "kid". Then again Al is much more a kid than Pride could ever be but Al is a giant hunk of metal whereas Pride looks like an actual little boy
basically it was dusty so pride couldnt see, but he grabbed Al's legs while it was dusty thinking his whole body was attached to the legs he (pride) grabbed. but al cut off his own legs, regenerated them with the stone and got away
There really is no difference,in my opinion they both sound fine, and al's voice was a bit better in the English dub,so there is no difference there. And in Japanese it sounds okay so no difference there.
the only voice actor i have a problem with in the eng version is alfonse. the kid playing him in the original grew up and they had to replace him with a girl. yes i know this is common for child characters but she annoys me
LoL, the people that say that there is no difference in between the english and the Japanese voices must be deaf, I mean one is English and the other is Japanese. While I know I am stating the obvious, I find it is simply matter of preference. Even though the English dub for FMA is pretty good compared to most dubs, it stills throws me off after watching countless amount of Animes with Subs
I love how alphonse quickly turns his severed leg into a sword rather than tossing it aside in a 200IQ power play
Then he curves it around pride shadow🔥🔥🔥
"I WON'T FALL FOR THAT AGAIN!"
**falls for that again**
How?
Nah he was flashbanged
Tbf the flashbomb stopped hom from doing anything
"A flash bomb?!"
"A DECOY :3"
I laughed way too hard when I watched this episode!
kingdomgirl949
What was so funny about it? O.o
vide0gameCaster Because he said a Decoy that was funny XD
GamerBoy870 Lol you laughed hard cuz alphonse is a thug with the stone
dylan goodenow Yep
+vide0gameCaster Because he's so damn smug when he says it.
Easily Al's most epic and badass moments.
I always felt like Al never fought to his full potential because he was afraid to hurt someone we know he's a better fighter than Ed but his combat alchemy is probably almost as good.
I think it maybe better
It might be better
Because as Ed once said
"I've never won a single fight against him"
He's actually better than Ed. But his gentleness holds him back.
Als also a way better sword fighter and real time strategist
Al has a lot better alchemy. He traded more of the Gate's knowledge with his whole body. And he can perform alchemy without physical contact with the object as an extension of his soul. His alchemy is also without blemishes and markings.

Actually, I think FMA is one of the few anime that I rather enjoy the dub over the original. The VA put lots of heart into it.
I feel the same way. I FMA has the best Dubs.
+tyfenrir word. No one can top king Brady's voice
+Hack Ly Seriously. Plus, a lot of the voices are pretty unique.
+Hack Ly well, its kinda hard to beat the dub when you've got Troy Baker as Greed.
True- Maxey Whitehead did a brilliant job as Al, I think.
"I won't fall for that again"
You can actually feel pride's hatred towards Al; it's as if he's fighting back along with uttering the lines - the effort manifests in the line and so does the emotion. Feels so real! One of the best dubs for a reason.

While Al's transmutations might be more fluid, they probably aren't as powerful as Ed's are considering how crazy Ed's transmutations can get.
+Connor Clemmons Yea probably, I just said they have different styles, not that Al's is superior to Ed's
Did he die from a heart attack by chance?
"I won't fall for that again!"
I love that line in both sub and dubbed versions.
Al kicks so much more ass in brotherhood than the original anime.
That's why I like FMA Brotherhood much more
It also sticks to the original storyline.
The episodes were outpacing the manga. They couldn't adapt what wasn't written yet.
The 2003 anime was the original storyline. (in the sense that most of it, including the ending, released before the manga's)
A flash bomb!
A decoy!
Love that. Al's just awesome.
Pride just got trolled! XD
Al regenerating himself in the middle of the battle is cool af
He's practically a homunculus when armed with that stone.
This was one of those rare moments when Al was so smug. When he said "a decoy :3," he acted so smug. It just feels so good when the villains get roasted back with the same smug looks.
My boy Alphonse came ready for war.
It makes so much sense that he's using swords and dragons, cause he is in a huge suit of armor. Really wish they would have expanded on this to show how differently Al and Edward are when it comes to fighting.

Agreed! Alphonse and Edward despite their differences, could hold there own well against pride.
Yeah, But seriously Badass Alphonse!
i wouldn't say better fighter, its just a different style of fighting.
"decoy!" that part had me dead
“I won’t fall for that again”, fall for that again

or their adventures in Drachma. A Russia-like empire, that would be great to make a story that mirrors the russian revolution.

He should of said "When I'm done with you, you'll know why they say I Al in alchemy"!!
Canon that Edward in 5 years is just gonna be riding on a train with Alphonse and realize that 'Al' is in 'alchemy.'
"Hey Al. You're name is in the word alchemy."

One of my favorite scenes in all of Brotherhood
Even if Al is a chunk of metal and has no physical body I'm always worried for his life when he's fighting. I know he's capable but I still see him as an innocent kid.
Especially seeing him get stabbed near his soul mark. This fight had me so worried pride would just accidentally kill him
Best fight scene done by Alphonse Elric. Knives and Shadows is my favorite ost theme in the series.
Ah studio bones why must you give my eyes such beauty that makes most other anime look like shit by comparison
Al whips out that dragon move a couple times in earlier seasons once he doesn’t need a transmutation circle. I clocked it the second time I watched the show bc this scene lives in my brain rent free
I love the Elric brothers. All I wanna do is cuddle them and then I could die happy.
The end of Ep 51 going into Ep 52 of the brotherhood series
Thanks
People should remember: Al was the one who always won the fights when they were kids. If things had played out differently, Ed would be the one outclassed by his genius younger brother.
Pride proceeds to fall for that again...
More anime fight scenes need to look like this of just constant dialogue.
True
"I won't fall for that again"
Gets flashbanged and falls for it again
As long it's not amv I'm all good
still my favourite anime of all time like 10years later. i even watched it again to confirm it's actually good and it is. meanwhile rewatching other anime: wait, it's not even good. why did i like it so much xd
I think I broke the replay button again...
This fight is awesome 😃
Imagine Al with a Tai-chi sword and Xingese martial arts.
I like the dub well enough, I just wish they kept a direct translation of Pride's line at the end there. Something like "That's the Philosopher's Stone for you... one trick after another"
Brotherhood Al is competently fighting humuculus by himself.

He aslo fight homonculus and kimblee in Fma what are u saying
God damn I love how angry and frustrated Pride gets.
did pride cut off Al's arm and than throw his leg back?
Nice Catch!
LOL I NOTICED THAT TOO! I thought I just missed something.
it was from an earlier scene where Al is trying to escape in the smoke and Pride grabs his leg, but Al transmutes it off
Al literally holding back hurting pride
Anyone else notice that, despite cutting off Al's arm, Pride throws a boot back at him instead?
It was one of Al’s legs that Pride grabbed earlier before Al transmuted his legs off, then he used the Philosopher’s Stone to make himself new legs
One of my fav fights in fmab top 1
Everyone please stop bitching about the dub or sub... I think there just as good as each other since well it's FMA so just enjoy and watch it...
The Armoured Alchemist I aint bitchin. and your right. YOU'RE ONE HELL OF A FIGHTER COMPARED TO FULLMETAL AL! XD
The Armoured Alchemist I aint bitchin. and your right. YOU'RE ONE HELL OF A FIGHTER COMPARED TO FULLMETAL AL! XD
ZhaoYun320
Good... And oh thanks I guess. Don't tell Brother that he'll get upset.
Sure thing Al. :) here *hands you a kitty*
ZhaoYun320
*cuddles and pets kitty* Thank you so much.
shows how much capable Al is than his brother.
he has a philosopher stone so he has an advantage and ed is plenty capable on his own.

Al can transmutate the stone into his armor if he really wanted to
Thats from 03 isnt it? The stone workings are different in fmab
Ironic he got done in with his own stone indirectly
Pride is basically shadow bending. Get it? Hahaha
Kimbley is waaaay stronger in this version.
Oh yeah I forgot about the whole sacrifice thing, haven't seen the show in a while
your kidding right? the dub of this show is one of the best around. the japanese brotherhood dub just can compare. especially when it comes to the english bradley, edward, hughes, mustang, father, von hoenhiem and the entire armstrong family
What episode is this
Cool, but pride knows where alphonse's blood seal is, he should have just attacked it immediately
Tito Sanchez he was a worthy candidate for sacrifice pride wasn’t going to kill him. Lmao 4 years late..
@@stevenleggett611 Remember when he manipulated Al during the forest fight? He would've just controlled him but not kill him.
I just imagine that Al was moving so that his blood seal would be protected even if it cost him another part of his suit (which he can instantly replenish with the stone)
Finally no AMV!!! :D
0:27 - 0:37 is genuinely badass
0:37 did that even cut him
it either just missed him or he just regenerated.
patrick watkins I never see pride regenerate
David Garcia funny thing is i don't think i've ever seen pride bleed despite the injuries he gets.
patrick watkins maybe he has high defense
This is pure guesswork but maybe they didn't wanna show too much violence on a "kid". Then again Al is much more a kid than Pride could ever be but Al is a giant hunk of metal whereas Pride looks like an actual little boy
Al ur so cool omg
why did his hand turn into a boot in prides possession?
he had a boot in his hand prior to the fight because al cut off his legs to stall while he did whatever he was doing
basically it was dusty so pride couldnt see, but he grabbed Al's legs while it was dusty thinking his whole body was attached to the legs he (pride) grabbed. but al cut off his own legs, regenerated them with the stone and got away

xD!!!
