Why is it that the two series with the best power systems have some of the absolute worst showings of said power systems? Full metal alchemist, and Harry Potter both give you the biggest blue balls when it comes to showing off the series powers. You get one super awesome fight of the big two most powerful guys doing crazy stuff for like 10 seconds, and then you get an entire series of the same five or six things with something added each season/book to keep it interesting. Harry Potter is fucking magic and all I ever saw him do was use telekinesis, a flashlight, and a strong gust of wind like he was a shitty airbender. Edward lives in a world where he can literally manipulate matter to seemingly a limitless extent, but we almost never see matter being transmuted into another form of matter, we see fists and walls and hand to hand combat..
This might be a hot take… but I actually think the manga handles many moments better than Brotherhood. It’s not as much of a 1 to 1 recreation as people say it is.
@@BlackangelKatakuri I actually prefer the 2003 adaptation to be honest for this exact reason. I’ve never liked the argument that Brotherhood is better because it’s “more like the manga” but to me it feels like a watered down version in many aspects. I’d rather an adaptation go all the way with being its own thing than to water down what already existed personally. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t like Brotherhood. FAR from that. I think the second half of Brotherhood is some of the best stuff anime has ever seen, and it’s honestly unmatched in my opinion. I just think the 2003 adaptation makes a much better first impression, which for me is important.
I don't know who said it, but if ever someone says an anime is a 1 to 1 creation, you know they are either lying or the anime is shit. If an adaptation is 1 to 1 creation, what's the point of it? Changes will always be made and have to be made. At the end, people will mostly think that the better version is the one they saw/read first or just the medium they enjoy more.

Yeah man and they cut short some fight scenes towards the end, the entire civil war flashback was missed and the pacing is so much better in the manga
