    I ran scraper all my life and would love to run one of these cat and pan's.. The cat and scraper are the best combination in muddy soil..

    These look like toys compared to the Terex tts 24s we ran. I know we hauled 30 or more yards a load. But we had sideboards added on and had 700 horsepower.

    The company I still work for in New Zealand use to run 2 × D8N - Kokudu 23SB Pull Scrapers , 2 × D7H LGP - Kokudu 15SW Pull Scrapers, we've sold them since due too them not being the most efficient way to make a dollar anymore, have replaced them with 2 - 627K & 2 - 627F & 2- 627E & 4 - 740C EJ

    I don't understand why this construction company just doesn't use 631 or bigger scrapers. In the late 80s I worked for Bemis construction out of Great Bend Kansas and we ran old 630 scrapers. George Bemis preferred the 630s because they were faster on long hauls. He made sure the mechanics kept them up and in good condition.

    I ran a d11 dozer for around five years or so and a number of 10 s lots of track noise inside cab of d11 the tens are quiet compared to the ellevens i cant see running these over say a 637,657 as track wear must.be.high,years ago they used d8 scraper pans to muck out low lying areas before making a fill on road sites this is where they worked real well a rubber tired machine coudnt get through the mid so well!

    Beauties! With that power and traction those are diggers, not scrapers, as R.G. Letourneau called his AWD fast load rigs. Can't tell, this must be a real short haul job?

    Sure a 639D could handle the material, but operating cost would detract from whatever gained from lap time.

    I have always heard that if you drive only forward like this the rollers, bogies, idlers, pins, and sprockets don’t wear out. Old timers say that backing up the going forward then back again wears everything out.
    Does anyone know if that’s true? I pull a scraper with my little crawler and been thinking of selling and getting a rubber tire tractor. If I don’t need to worry about my tracks I’ll keep my machine.

    • @rossgray3070
      @rossgray3070 Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah that is true, because on a lo drive machine the pins rotate inside the bush 3 times under load when going in REV, once at the bottom of the idler, again when it comes off the idler at the top and again when it goes around the sprocket, plus when in REV the bush rotates against the sprocket tooth a 1/3 of a turn while its under load, that causes the most wear as it scollops out the sprocket and chews into the bushings. When going FWD the pins only turn once under load, which is when it is picked up on the sprocket at the bottom also the bush does not rotate against the tooth it gets picked up and once its half way round the sprocket the links are not under any load as such. A thing to note is to make sure the chains are on the right way coz if they have been put on backwards the bushings will rotate against the teeth going FWD not REV. Hi speed REV is the killer of track gear to the point where some outfits block out 3 rd gear FWD & REV on their machines. Hi drives are a bit different in that the pins rotate under load 3 times going FWD as well as REV that why the have to run SALT tracks. I spent many yrs on dozer & scoops, good way to shift dirt in the right situations.
