Allis Chalmers dozer takes down a massive tree.

- When you need to remove a big tree without an excavator, tree pusher, or tilt blade, this is how you go about it. I believe this tree is a Burr Oak? It was 4-5 ft in diameter and had a huge canopy (50+ ft) that stretched out into our field blocking equipment and sucking up nutrients. Even a large dozer like this (45k lbs) can only push over trees up to a certain size, after that, you need to dig around them to break the roots and then pile up dirt on one side to create a ramp for leverage. Even then I could only get within 3-4 feet around the tree so the root ball is huge. 1952 Allis Chalmers HD20 Torque converter drive. 6-110 detroit diesel

Was a beautiful tree and plenty of open land. I keep mine because it creates a spot of shade to hang out at during the summer
now firewood
That ole cable AC is a hell of a workhorse. Great job!
I'm a tree hugger.. hate to see trees come down - ever... that poor thing.
Have you ever noticed how much quieter the tractors on an Allis-Chalmers crawler are than any other type of Crawler, I had that pointed out to me be an operator over 50 years ago. Watching this proves the point.
Satisfying!
One happy sounding Detroit, well done..
Thanks!
Tree pusher and experienced operator, over in 3 minutes, root ball and all.
good ole A.C jimmy singing its song and getter done.Thank for sharing.
The company itself may be gone, but with old soldiers like this chugging along, the legacy is still alive.
And much respect to that damn tree, too. A worthy opponent!
what mak of dozer is that
I don’t own a dozer but I have several chain saws . Nice take down with that old unit ,still running GREAT.

Nice sounding 6-110 Jimmy!!
Love Detroit diesels! On the farm and then at sea, I have used and worked on everything from the 53 series, to the 149's!
At 45° I was thinking ya it’s going over, then it stands back up 👍👍 awesome video
Well done job but I salute the stubborn old tree refusing to leave it place. It had all the rights to that piece of land. God bless it brave soul.
My thoughts exactly 😔
How much oxygen did that tree put out what a shame
@@warreneisenburg2580 And how much oxygen the useless monster consumed and in return how much cabon dioxide plus monoxide it gave us in return for his services.
A tree doesn’t have a soul.
@@jaybd9329 that exactly what this tree told the other trees about us.
Hard to tell which one is the oldest!!
Jokes aside he's doing good for cable blade machine, it's not as easy as most think
Hell of a fight back by the tree. 👏 Even though it lost in the end I suspect it has left it's seeds around which will reclaim the space when no body is looking 😏
nature is weird, i had a peanut tree/bush growing in my yard, i live in Wisconsin
Dang !!!
I buy burr oak acorns !!!
I have nurtured many ! Collect n give to Youth that take Forestry Classes !
They are amazed w/the size !! I have some S. E. acorns just shy of a tennis ball !! But most are golf ball size , JUST the nut ! Helmet covered 1/2-2/3’s if the nut !!! It has been a Very Valuable TOOL to teach about Conservation !!
As a lifelong Scout ! Well I left 11 years ago ! I gave Scouts Burr Oak acorns for 20 years ! Most were Amazed by the size !
Take Care !
You'd be hard pressed to get acorns from that tree. If it was any kind of oak, he wouldn't have been able to push it over like this. It's an Osage Orange
@@billwine222 Definitely not Osage Orange. Pushed out a whole row of them on same property.
Osage orange or hedge roots are shallow, can shove them over without cutting roots, this tree kinda looks like a live oak but not sure but the bark looks like piss elm.
@@modoc852 Lot of them in TeXaS size of an orange ! Bumpy n looks like a jackfruit ! We had a lotta fights w/them ! Feeding them to horses😩,n throwing them at each other ! Play baseball w/them !
Years ago and about this time of year my buddy and I would blast em with 22 rem yellow jackets just to watch em explode.
Beautiful to watch such an antique working
Love watching that old Allis chalmers iron working hard ‼️‼️
Dang fine job mighty fine dozer as well old detroit sure does pur
Pure diesel power a beast beautiful dozer
My dad bought a 1965 HD-11 in 1968 I was 8 yrs old. It's still on the farm today in 2022 she's got hydraulic blade lift and steering . She's strong as ever and I still get parts for it at crane and tractor in Ohio or you can get new parts from Phil hunt in Australia.
I have an HD5 that I need to find a radiator for.
Any radiator shop should be able to order the dimensions that you need.
That is one sweet ole machine! Got a soft spot for a screaming Detroit.
Great job 👍,, could almost smell the video 😝 much appreciated ✌️
Is that a detroit engine! She’s singing!!🥰🥰
yes 6-110
That's an HD20 with a diesel torque converter. Many years ahead of catapiller with direct electric start a torque converter. We had one growing up with a 46A full u blade on it. It'd just sing its way through the day pushing it full of dirt.
I heard that good job

Beautiful tree.
Looks like a needless tree murder...such a waste.
@@callmelatefordinner3743 If it was not dead I would agree.
What’s beautiful it all you tree lovers are the same the man wants it out so he is taking it out he doesn’t need your opion
@@bobwalton3642 yea well , he posted on a public forum where more comments mean more clicks and that’s what posters here are looking for. So opinions, like ‘em or not, are part of the process.
He did GOOD and there's a lot of good firewood in that tree. I dearly love to dig stumps but I usually start 6 or 8 feet away from the trunk and start busting roots. With a dozer or loader I do like he did and go around but with the loader you always have the advantage of a bucket curl leverage. With a hoe and the tree attached I dig around 3 sides and hinge it on the 4th side VERY easy. That hard dry ground don't turn loose without a fight, especially one that big but if you can get it to shake, it'll come.................eventually. Just have to keep worrying it. That 110 has a SWEET lick and the torque converter and decellerator is CHOICE! Thanks and GBWYall!~
I added the decel myself, as they werent available from the factory with one until 55 with the release of the 21 and 16. Its awesome in trees, not needed as much pushing dirt but I bet it would have been nice pushing scrapers.
@@bigcal36 You did a FINE job on the whole machine. And when you back up it acts like you're in #2 notch which is good about pushing because you can get the torque converter into the deal and put the traction to the ground instead of just spinning. I pushed pans with a 6-C and a 8-H and if you could get the pan skinners to let you catch them on the fly (cut about 4 to 6 inches) you could really move some dirt and have a blast doing it. That 110 has a FINE lick to it. I've always been a 2-cycle fan since a small kid. GBWYall!
what is the purpose of removing the tree?
kinda feel bad for the old tree right
The purpose was so it wouldn’t be there anymore.
Walmart parking lot.
Who cares lmao i have one and we remove over 300acres a year with a d7
to get 2 million views duh why else.
Who cares if the operator is experienced non-experienced cable driven hydraulic driven all I know is the operator is probably having one hell of a good time having fun playing in the dirt straight up fun fun
Very stubborn tree, but very determined dozer operator. Great video, wish that I was there.

those Allis Chalmers have a very distinctive sound, a sound of power ! They have GM , 2 strokes Diesel engines
It was a 6/71 wasn't it?
@@johnphillips2396 6-110.
My dad could operate those old cable rigged tractors. I can't. Much respect.
SCREAMING DETROIT ✌️🇺🇸✌️
Pretty solid old cable blade tractor with that unmistakable AC sound of power and granny low gear.
Even taryl and slippers would have trouble with that one well maybe. Good video thanks
nice job. Machine sure runs good!
Thanks 👍
Thanks so much for filming and sharing !
Gracias!
I like the sound of the Allis Chalmers diesel engine.
I have an old TD15B. I always keep good grousers on it. So many people seem to be running with nearly smooth tracks.
Grousers were good on this ol girl. Full of earth, but definitely not smooth.
@@mickw5704 I realized that after posting.
My friend has a td15c with dt466
Wow that screaming Jenny! Love the sound
why did you take this tree down? what was the reason? it looked like a healthy big tree. I love the big old machines, but don't like to see a tree like that being knocked down.
What a shame to take down such a beautiful tree.
"Blocking equipment." There's always some excuse.
I totally agree with you. No one should tear down any tree. We need all we can get and give it all our love. Our existence on this planet is also due to trees. I never liked seeing any tree cut down, except if one was so sick that it was impossible to save it.
Bro it's completely dead.
@HunterSmith641 no, it's not a dead tree for a dead tree doesn't suck any nutrients. (Read the description box)
Wonder how long a d-8 would take to do that?
what a beast!
This video was fantastic
those old machines are strong as hell man
Интересное видео. В 80-е годы прошлого века работал на ЧТЗ, тогда этот завод работал в три смены, круглосуточно и на продукцию завода была очередь из покупателей...
What's the purpose of taking down a healthy tree ?
Love the way the Detroit is screaming
well it looks like lots of advice in the comments. all I can say is when your in the seat of your machine you get it done your way.
And to all the huggers on here go fishin, catch a fish, clean it,cook it and eat it, it’ll set you free.
@@djavidianmx1832 .
A lot of the advice is coming from people that have never been in the seat
That tree looks like Live Oak. One of the best boat building woods.
Dozer has loads of power! While spinning both tracks. Engine doesn't even grunt!
Nice! That was fun.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So sad!!! beutiful tree!! Just leave it alone
Tim Taylor would be proud! Grunt grunt. 😃😃
Engine sounds good
Olde st Fiat A I ever used much was a 41B. Lots of push
Looks like some good deer hunting property nice treestand tree
It's amazing what a non turbocharged Detroit can do with half the cubes of a waste a stroke engine! Acted like it wasn't aware it was working. (No they're NOT supercharged by the blower) better throttle response too.
YOU SIR ARE CORRECT
NOT MANY OF US WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL WHAT MOTOR IS IN THAT LEVIATHAN OF
A MACHINE THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A DETROIT SCREAMIN HARD AT WORK
ALL THE LANDING CRAFT DURING WW2 WHERE POWERED BY
DETROIT MOTORS
It’s all in the gearing on those things
I knew it was a Detroit from all the old fishing boats who got them cheap after WW2. What a hell of an engine. Last forever. No need to improve on something like that. Great video Sir
Did Allis use the bigboar 6-110 in the big dozers ?
What a wasteful action. What progress did you make here?
What type of tree was it?
Let the holier than thou comments begin about how others remove trees for good reasons but you remove them for bad reasons 🤣. Nice work on the tree, nice bulldozer!
Engine GM diesel 2T?
HD20 very early 50s .. sounds nice
That sound !!!!!! 😍😍😍
Well done! What a beast of a tree and so well balanced I felt like you were going to push it out of the ground sideways without tipping it.
Thanks! 👍
that looks far better than a d8 in the same age class
Poor tree. What did it do wrong?
Is the Allis Chalmers Detroit powered? Sounds like a Detroit diesel to me
Yes! Detroit Diesel 6-110
great machine i was operate that while in belgium army 50 year ago
Ótimo vídeo
👍
Is that a hybrid or an electric powered machine?
What a machine!
Mean mother of a machine ... hope he had ear plugs with that screaming Detroit lol
Amazing! 👍👍👍👍
Nice lookin machine. Good operator too, in my humble opinion.
Thanks for vid. I enjoyed this very much.
They had a sound of their own had a HD 20 with 610. Just curious as to why you never put your ramp up a nother blade would have been a little bit easier on the old girl. She was a work horse
I like HD 21 bulldozer might be back in the days
Wie stellt der sich dann an???
Cheaper to buy a tree cuter than an expensive part for the dozer I think!!!!!!!!! I won’t deny was entertaining !!!!!
It's the spring back of the limbs that won't let it fall. It put up one hell of a fight.
Chainsaw?
Why did the tree need taking down?!
Just a test for the Allis-Chalmers?
Should have left the tree alone...
Let it live, and find another obstacle.
Lotsa nice oak wood in that tree.
Did it require felling. Rog
Caramba tem ate cabo de aço para erguer a lâmina com carretilha
Love hearing the Detroit..
Good job
E' un 2 tempi???
Man - that poor old girl sounded like she was working really hard!
The “Old Girl” is running pretty clean considering how hard it’s being pushed.
That was a Beautiful Tree 😢
How would you know

That AC is ancient! It has a Jimmy diesel in it.
Would that be a loam soil ???
Why did they need to get rid of the tree?
Looked like it was a great Tree for shade.?
I love seeing these big trees come down! Thanks
How hard is it to get parts for the hd15
depends on part. you need something?
@@bigcal36 I need tracks
I used to have my own hd 11 b it took me 3 day s of digging around the tree it was a huge cotton wood 6 guys could not reached around it after digging it took the dirt and made a ram up on the tree to get it to fall over then I had another day digging that dirt out the. the man I was working for brought his hd 11 and there huge 4x4 tractor over and we had to cut up the tree in 3 pieces to get rid of it they had the big tractor pulling and we had the 2 dozers pushing
