Pumping liquid into the head is a flawed method.
The liquid must be pump out of the head.
Direct pressure can easily ruin the head.

You are right. Any pressure higher than 2 psi can damage an Epson head. That's why we are bleeding fluid into the head at a very low pressure. If you connect the vacuum tube to the print head, you can pump it out of it, but only a tiny amount that's already inside. This is the best you can do without removing a print head.
