    I'd buy this for the on-board recording and use it purely as a stand-alone. Interchangeable capsules would be cool, though.

    Hello and thank you for this video!
    We can't wait for it to be available in Europe, 1 month to go!
    Question: is there any chance that this RODE INTERVIEW PRO will be natively compatible with the DJI OSMO POCKET 3?
    I mean, without having to use the Rode Wireless Pro USB receiver?

    The Rode Interview Pro sounds pretty solid 32bit floating point...wonder how it will compare to the Zoom F3? Battery and storage capacity are impressive. Did you get a sense of price?

    Would it be possible to ask Rode if this RODE INTERVIEW PRO can be paired with the legacy Filmakers Kit's wireless receiver ?
    Maybe through a firmware update ?
    Or is there a hardware incompatibility ?
    Thank you very much for your efforts to inform us. I truly appreciate it.

      Brilliant design, well thought out hand-held interview mic. And yes, omnidirectional is a must for run and gun. On-board recording adds a level of fail safe redundancy.

    If you are using it for an ENG mic you don't want an omni. You don't want every sound in the room. A cardioid is what you want. That is why the MD46 is the best ENG mic.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Před 2 měsíci +4

      Lol...funny...I do ENG...and it is LITERALLY my job to get the sound in the room

    • @WupperVideo
      @WupperVideo Před 2 měsíci +1

      We are also doing ENG as our main business and for most situations, we are using a handheld cardioid or supercardioid Sennheiser E965 capsule to isolate the voice from background noises.
      But this style really differentiates between the US and Australia and how European ENG teams work.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Před 2 měsíci

      @WupperVideo what business?
      It's weird because the whole point of news gather is ambience.
      But even when you look at lav tech...it's all omni.
      Omni isn't as open as people think...
      Perhaps when used to distance mic...but when gained properly...the closest voice stands out VERY well with an omni capsule...like our does in this video.
      And FYI...NAB was VERY loud

    • @WupperVideo
      @WupperVideo Před měsícem

      @@DarkCornerStudios for example at disasters, accidents or at trade fairs.
      These are very noisy situations and we would like to get the best sound with less background noise.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Před měsícem

      Like the extremely noisy trade show I was just at?
      And the one that got me fantastic audio?
      Again...while omni picks up noise in every direction...it does NOT amplify it.
      If your source is the loudest source...you will not notice a difference.
      Because in a noisy situation...EVERYWHERE IS NOISY.
      So even with a cradioud...you will still be pointing it in a noisy direction.
      This isn't rocket science

  • @thedeejlam
    @thedeejlam Před 2 měsíci +3

    It's not my bag for ENG. First, it does manage handling well. But, an updated XLR plug on from them is missed. There are many situations where a short/any shotgun will serve interviews better. The windscreen on offer won't help that omni in many, many real-world situations where a shotty and deadcat will, er, kill it. As well, any word about whether Rode make available, and maintain, battery replacement kits/a send-in program to mitigate future e-waste (Tentacle and others do such things)?
    Look, I get it. This seems unabashedly aimed at 'the creator' segment where a no-thought all-in-one seems to be in demand; however, Rode is a company with some fantastic microphones and engineers (clearly). Use of "pro" would have better meant a two-piece XLR plug and excellent new omni kitted together and sold separately.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Not everything has to be xlr.
      As for real world situations...I'd love to know what you consider.
      I was in a wildly loud environment and this thing was fantastic.
      For ENG...this thing would have saved my ass in several different situations.
      As for the rest...you will have to wait for the review

    • @WupperVideo
      @WupperVideo Před 2 měsíci

      You can easily get an adapter from 3.5 mm stereo jack to 2x male XLR.
      Works well for me. But I agree, that all these inbuilt batteries will be a large problem in a few years.
      Also the receiver battery will not last 20 hours, so you have to charge it while using, or get a second receiver, if the battery on the first dies.

    Omnidirectional…TWO THUMBS DOWN!! If this is supposed to be an interview mic it should have been supercardioid or atleast cardioid, but it seems its the signature Rode strategy nowadays to make a good feature set and sh*t on it with one of their stupidities
