  • Alex Pereira dominated at UFC 300 and pleaded to Dana White to let him fight at UFC 301 in Brazil. Should Pereira get a chance to move to heavyweight and take on Tom Aspinall for a chance to become the first UFC fighter to become a 3-division champion?

    Periera was an 8x 2 division world kick boxing champion. Izzy never won a title in kickboxing. Both Alex and Izzy have both beaten 5 world champions in the UFC, but Alex has 2 weight classes. It's not a stretch to say Periera's resume is as good or better than Izzy's.

      It’s a stretch why, cause alex has been “gifted “favorable matchups against strikers the one fighter that could beat alex is magomed ankalaev. Jan gassed in the Alex fight up in elevation and then the fight changed. Dc has said that alex has very low wrestling iq (defense &offense) it’s his footwork and positioning along w the danger of alex’s striking helps deter the grappling. Would love to see if magomed can take alex down and beat him up or alex will be unstoppable unless he moves to heavyweight then jones or aspinal will easily beat him their grappling is superior.

    I would love a fight between Poatan and Aspinal. It would be an extraordinary sales record, etc. The issue is the "next day". Imagining that one of the two would get knocked out, it would either end up burning Aspinal, who could be a dominant heavyweight champion, or losing part of the mystique created around Poatan. So, I think the UFC works with a more medium-term perspective, working more on Aspinal in the heavyweight division and, eventually, making this fight between them happen.

    Put him in with Aspinall and watch him get mauled. They have avoided putting him in there with grapplers. Tom is an elite BJJ heavyweight, and there is zero reason for him not to shoot on Alex. It will not be close.

     With Alex and Tom on the feet I give it to Alex by a mile, on the ground they are both black belts in jujitsu. The only advantage Tom has is size lol hes about 20-25lbs heavier "alex walks around at about 240 while Aspinal walks around and fights at 262. Tom is 6'5 while Alex is 6'4 1/2 so only a half inch height difference while Alex has a 1 inch reach advantage over Tom and like I said its only a 20-25lb weight difference but Aspinal has alot more body fat. Alex hits hard enough to ko anybody at heavyweight seeing how he hits harder than Francis Ngannou breaking his record. "hes the same height as Ngannou too" So i donno why nobody is giving him a chance. The dude literally has the frame of a heavyweight and broke the hardest punch record that Francis Ngannou set who was the hardest hitting heavyweight ever so has the punching power. I can see him getting it done. Would just rather see him wait until Tom becomes the undisputed champion so people dont down play the belt when he wins it.

    Where's Sergei Pavlovich at? He would lose nothing by taking a short notice fight against Pereira in Brazil on 3 weeks notice. If he loses, it's no big deal. Losing against Aspinall and Pereira back to back won't totally destroy his stock. He still stays in the top 10 at HW. However, if Pavlovich wins, he solidifies his standing as a dangerous striker who took out one of the biggest stars in the sport who dared to be great. Hell, I'd think that the odds would be a pick-em or a -140 for Pavlovich at best.

  • @justinp_
    @justinp_ Před 27 dny

    The big question would be does Tom play it safe and take him down to finish the fight, which would piss off fans and not really build his star power. Or does the pride in his own striking take over and he stands with Alex and trys to knock him out on the feet? Tom could definitely do it, but is the risk worth it?

  • @naijainfotainmenthub6999

    Alex is beast but I will say something alex and Izzy ain’t meet for comparison ‘cause alex has one advantage over Izzy. This is it alex has a bigger bones human weight is vastly in the bones not the fleshy part Izzy perfect weight is 185 while alex is 205 going by the weight they carry off fighting week that’s their walking weight. If alex goes to heavy weight he will have challenge with a skillful heavyweight take for instance with this French guy Cyril Gane. Alex walks around 235 or even more pounds while Izzy walks around 200 or 203 pounds.
    I guess that’s the reason UFC pressured him to move up in weight class ‘cause cutting off weight is really telling on Alex.
    Light heavyweight fighter can easily deal with alex hard punches not middle weight since he has a kickboxing background him and izzy can well easily drive the punch to a specific point that’s why you see referee quickly stop fight when Izzy or alex had their opponent trapped. Other fighters hit aimlessly the referee will allow the fight to continue a little bit

    Aspinall is too complete of a fighter. Alex is great only within the context of selective matchups. Too simplify for the dummies that dominate the fan base of this sport I mean, his opponents are cherry picked and his path to two titles was too. It should be a very rare thing for someone to be able to gain two titles and a third should be practically impossible, if things are done fairly. It is only possible with help. This is mma, and they are not matching him with anything but other one dimensional fighters like himself.
