I was born there. Trust me, it‘s not this great 😉 The town is a fine example of terrible decisions in urban development and the consequences this has for a town even decades later. Böblingen actually has a very pretty medieval old town centre. With the remains of a town wall, small alleyways, a market square, half-timbered houses, etc. In the 1970s, a shopping centre was built right next to the old town. This meant that the old town centre trade was dead for decades. In the 1990s, another wing was added to the old shopping centre. This was of course modern, which meant that the old shopping centre suffered and the first shops moved out. The old town centre was still dead. Finally, in the 2010s, another new shopping centre was built right next to the other two. So the old town is dead, the old shopping centre is as good as dead, the middle one has no good shops and some vacancies. Only the new centre is still busy. However, the overall appearance of the city centre is terrible, with three large, ugly structures in the middle.
Memories..Lived there at Panzer Kaserne and Sindelfingen 1988-90. Met alot of girls there! Wonder if the City Cafe is still on the 2nd floor of the mall..One of the best places on earth. really nice.

the old mall (City Center) is history, therefore there is the new mall called Mercaden.
